Clearly it doesn't matter the shape of the guitar, it just goes to show you can play any style with this one. It sounds great whether it's chicken picking country, classic rock or even metal! Well done J MAN!

I bought one just like this in reverse silverburst as a Xmas present for myself. The first one I got had some unlevel frets above the 12th so I sent it back. The replacement they sent was perfect though. I planned on having to replace the humbuckers initially, but am very impress with the way they sound powerful, bright, and clear. Only parts I ended up replacing were the tuners. They were pretty good but I wanted something with a 21:1 ratio. The stock ones were 18:1 and probabally fine for most people. The nut is made of bone but is painted black. Mine was cut perfectly. I like the maple neck, it is super stable for tuning and the funky headstock cutout is a bit weird but I found it to be an ideal place to put my headstock tuner. Great guitar for the price! Quality wise I would compare it to some of my $1000 Korean made guitars. Great video, thanks.

I got the white ex style guitar. One thing they really need to do is thin the neck ,seat the frets better ,put the strap button from neck to a better location.

Got one last week and I'm super impressed.... 219 euros shipped and my impressions are just like yours. Maybe too light to be mahogany (at least the mahogany we know) but great great guitar; with some eq as a first stage before the amp I get an emg type sound, which is incredible. Will have some work done on the nut (which is anyway set up very well from the factory) to squeeze all the possible playability as I am surely gonna keep it and play it a lot!

Jimi Hendrix famously used to mod his guitars for left-handed play that way, of course... Come to think of it, Hendrix had a custom-made Flying V, too! 😂That said, I totally agree that it’s NOT cool to mod a guitar and then return it all messed up that way. The original Gibson Flying V actually had a grippy felt strip along the side for seated playing… However, the BEST way to play a Flying V seated is to use classical posture with the V part between the legs, rather than in the cowboy posture. In this position, the Flying V is THE most comfortable guitar ever! I bet you’d get a few looks playing your kind of music with a guitar like that on stage! 😂 I can tell that it’s not really your style… But I must say, that neck humbucker really doesn’t sound too bad at all-I actually like the sound you get from it! The bridge pickup sounds rather muddy though, and definitely NOT like a Tele. As for the Helios pickups: Covered humbuckers can potentially be a bit darker than uncovered pickups, especially if the covers have plating that is not magnetically transparent. You could also EASILY remove the Helios pickup covers if you really wanted to-just take a small box knife or a razor blade and carefully cut the solder at the edges. (Do NOT try to melt that solder, as it could potentially melt other components, ruining the pickup.) HOWEVER, I think taking the cover off generally doesn’t make as big a difference in pickup tone as the magnet material and the way that the coil is wound.

Cool guitars, Jay. For that kind of cash..... it's nuts you can get something like this now. You smoked it! I might have to eventually check one of these out. How is the neck? Is it fat? Is it wide? Or in the normal range? I got the Westcreek DC - and I hate the neck. I'll get rid of it. I might be interested in one of these, if the neck is not so wide & also chunky.

Flying V’s are VERY easy to sit down with if you use a classical posture with the V part between the legs, as opposed to the cowboy posture. In this position, they are the best EVER, especially as when seated this way, the V shape can naturally help maintain correct neck angle for playing.

@@zuperdee And if you don't sit with a classical posture? That must be why I traded off or sold 4 of them and the 2 I still have don't get played. I can't just sit down and play in my desk chair, or kicking back on my couch. I even have a Jackson players choice RR. Never leaves the case because I find it to be unweildy. As a beginner is it not more useful to have an instrument that can be played with mostly any posture, rather than a specific one? S type or lp type guitars are perfect for that. Also V's come cut at different angles. I even watched a review of this last night where a guy with a bunch of basses and guitars littered around him (not a beginner) found out that these things are hard to sit with, he eventually got it by sitting on the end of the couch and wedging the V between his leg and the couch. That isn't optimal.

Duuude! I *cannot* be buying more guitars. Stop making this look so awesome (really great playing, by the way). Is it possible they are actually using the materials they claim (mahogany/maple/rosewood) at this price? That's insane. Is the hardware garbage? Sounded like the tuners weren't great at least, and the strings (but really, most people change the strings straight away anyhow).
@j-man9457
@j-man9457 6 ай бұрын
Haha thanks for the comment. Yes these guitars are really made with the materials listed... the question would be what grade of maple and mahogany?? I'll guarantee it's not AAA flamed maple lol but I'd be willing to bet it's the same quality as what you'd find on Epiphone guitars at double to triple the price (here in Canada anyway) Same goes for the hardware. Easily comparable to what you'd find on an Epi. I would say the 2 biggest issues you may run across are a few bad tuners and ocasionally inconsistent fret heights... and yes factory strings typically suck! Mostly because they have been on the guitar for months in different climates before you even get it unboxed...😀
