At the Potsdam conference the Americans and British had agreed to give Berlin to the Societs in exchange for the western Allies being given half after German surrender. The western forces actually captured land further west then thought possible at Pitadam yet they where forced hy tye agreement to give them to the Soviets after the war and it all bevame part of East Germany.
