Good thing you talked about the smart charger because it would be nice to plug in between houses to charge more

Het Brett, on my Z330R with 48" deck, I have a Power-Flow Bagging system to handle the 48" width. With this battery model, will there be a bagging kit option for the 48" deck? How will they do it? Will there be another electric motor for the power flow and if so, what will that do to the run time? Also, do the battery mowers use the same blades as the equivalent Z300 series gas mowers or are they thinner and have less of a blade sail to reduce air resistance & extend run time (often with reduced vacuuming performance) like most battery mower products do? Thanks again for your great videos!

How cold can the batteries safely get while in winter storage?

Would it be fine to store it over the winter in a non-heated garage? I do not have heat in my garage here in NY. How would you store it over the winter in below freezing temps?
@fpsrv1 Жыл бұрын
I live in Northern Illinois. According to the owner's manual you should leave the mower unplugged with about 40-60% charge during storage. I have this machine and that's what I'm doing (although my charge is closer to 90%).

I don't know why john deere would go electric.u don't have to kiss the goverments ass people don't waunt electric.couple of my buddies have a small business and tried battery mowers the battery caught fire burned thei shed down with thousands of dollars worth of equipment fire company cant use water on them they had to use a blanket just for this problem that stops oxygen from getting to the and smothers the fire thats craz who ever owns one of these keep it out side.even if its a car I had a cousins house burn down because of a electric car really people don't let the goverment tell u what to do

So I looked at John Deere for electric ZTR mowers... VERY briefly. Had quite a few issues: * The biggest was the permanently installed battery, not a viable option where it freezes unless you're willing to dedicate heated storage space to it. (I'm not). These batteries don't like cold weather. * Next was the stamped deck instead of fabricated... for the money I don't expect a cheap deck. * Then there's the very long (compared to mowers from EGO and Ryobi) charge time. None of these mowers would really work for commercial (others in this range are in the 3-4 hour range) but 6 hours is very long. * Then was the seat... comparably priced mowers have proper shock absorbing (with adjustability for weight) seats and easy adjustment fore and aft (without having to get out of the seat). Ultimately the problem is the price, if the price was in the 2-3k range I think it would be a better match for the lower end electric ztr's that the feature set of this machine matches. IMO for $5k'ish the best options are the EGO and Ryobi 50+" deck units... I ended up with the Ryobi 54 ($4999)

For $6000+, I would expect a few simple creature comforts like a seat slide that doesn’t require removing knobs; tools-less adjustable handles; transport mode deck height. Also, what gauge steel on the deck? Stamped or fabricated? Same blades as gas model, or thinner?
@killercan107 ай бұрын
Creature comforts? Its literally based on the Z320R which has a knob for seat adjustment and deck "transport". Same 42" Accel Deep stamped 12 gauge deck.
@davidr32467 ай бұрын
@@killercan10that’s the point. The z320R is $3699.00, a far cry from $6,000.

Thanks for the video. The 48A deck is a three motor deck and it's a 10 ga. deck as opposed to a 12 ga. 42" deck with two mowers. So the 48" is a much nicer deck.
@WesternEquipment6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and I would say they both serve their purpose. It just all depends on the user and what they are trying to accomplish, but yes the 42" has 2 blades and 48" has 3 blades.

So you don’t have to charge them individually. I’m looking at charging the separate batteries at snow bird customers whether it be Greenworks or whichever I decide on.

Surely JD put a BMS in the battery to automatically stop charging below freezing. If not, buy another brand!
@mosfet5005 ай бұрын
Update on the removable battery issue: I cancelled my JDZ370r with built in battery pack - here's why: I did a lot of research on Li-Ion batteries from an engineering standpoint. What I found out is that it's much worse than we thought, there's new evidence that Li-Ion stored below freezing - 0C (32F) show deterioration. Where I live we can see much lower than that, in fact most of the country can see below freezing, certainly all the northern states. I filed a technical question with JD and haven't heard back from them and may never. They use EGO batteries in their electric tractors and the Z370r zero turn. EGO specifies their batteries should be stored between 50F to 80F, so how does JD sell a tractor with their batteries that can't be removed and stored in an above freezing environment? They can't, it's a big mistake by them and I strongly recommend avoiding their electric tractors and zero turns. For that matter, anyone selling equipment without removable batteries should be avoided although I don't know any other manufacturer who doesn't have removable batteries.

These battery powered equipment are crazy efficient. For example. My electric car battery has as much energy as two gallons of gasoline. Yet I can go 250+ miles on a single charge. There are no i.c.e. cars that can do that not even motorcycles lol

Just bought this today. Drove 2.7 miles over 1.4 acres and used 66% for its first ride.
