Kent moore tools are pretty much exclusive to General Motors and the Detroit Diesel division of general motors. That counter bore set is for either the series 50 or series 60 engines. In the later years after the spx merger they started making tools for other manufacturers. A few years ago I purchased every single kent moore and dealer specific tool that a Chevy dealer had when they went out of business. That dealer happened to service medium duty and gm buses back in the day so I ended up with all of the 2 stroke Detroit diesel tools along with tools for the cat 3208 and cat 3116 since it was used in gm medium duty.

just learned this last year i've told everyone i know verbally,now i'm saying it on this channel cause most of you guys are techs and mechanics on all sorts of stuff,not only the parts are crap,i just learned that they are making and rebuilding all of the transformers and generators that fire most of our plants and sub stations,in other words china has us by the balls on our electricity grid,check it,i did,its scary damn scary,we have no backup,all i can say is buy generators for powering your shops and homes just in case,i hate even talking about it,now how in the hell can you backup gasoline that rots in 6 months

The last remanufactured starter my buddy bought quit within a few months. I opened it up to see what went wrong and low and behold none of the magnets were attached to the housing. They all were spun around and stuck together. Thankfully we still had the old starter. I replaced the brushes in the old one and he hasn’t had any problem since. Utter crap this reman stuff is.

A soft start is ideal for an AC motor that runs at full speed all the time. A Freq drive (VFD/AFD) are for both soft starting and controlling the speed of an AC motor to control for pressure, flow, etc. Freq drives can also spin a motor faster than 60 hertz as well. Like anything else they can be basic or wild depending on application.

You know when I tell people what you just said they look at me like I'm crazy. I worked in a sugar mill and we had dozens of vfd's most of the time it was to speed up or control flow of pumps.

@@kennethhoover6195 VFD don't work on DC, there's no frequency on DC. You have to control the voltage to control the speed of DC motors, and that requires feedback to know what the motor is turning, because DC motors will speed up with less load and slow down with more load.

@@kennethhoover6195 changes the frequency. If nameplate says 1750 rpm at 60 Hz, the speed will be proportional when you speed up to 100, 120 Hz and slow when you go to 40 Hz. We've got a motor with 72:1 reduction to 15/60 chain drive to get final shaft rpm to roughly 1/10th motor rpm. We run the arm at 4 rpm and motor at 40 Hz.

My wife's uncle passed away about 6 months ago. He had an international 784 tractor for the farm chore machine. His wife asked me if I would come check it out as they had hired a handyman and he was mowing with it and said it run hot so he shut it off. Well the poor thing had been rode hard and put away wet for many years. Wound up changing all the fluids and filters and the water pump was toast and needed changing so I asked myself what would Warren do? After watching him all this while I started with the sheet metal then the fan shroud then the fan then the pump itself. Make a long story short I got it done and just reversed everything I did to put the new one back on. It runs good now. Thanks Warren for being an inspiration. I know it was just a water pump but if you have never changed one out before you know what I mean....

I know a manager at Renault/Nissan. He works at their Paris (nearby) headquarters. I asked one day about vehicle recalls and failure rates - it was around the time the Leaf was coming in and batteries were (and still are) junk. That manager explained that the company is very aware of failure rates from parts. The company accepted a 4% expected failure on any new vehicle and they had internal types of insurance cover that would pay for recalls, parts and staff time at dealerships on repairs covered by the company. I've a feeling that vehicle manufacturers are raising those expected failure rates. As others have said, they really don't give a toss as long as they sell machines.

We had a big meeting about 5 years ago and basically said, we are never fitting reman to jobs we do because the liability is too high, one of the best decision we ever made imo.

this guy is great...he's a photographer and a vlogger and a philosopher and a mechanic and a keen observer of human nature and he seems to be able to juggle 6 balls in the air at the same time.......fixing heavy equipment outside in the dirt and weather all the time probably gets to be tiring....but his is a skill in high demand because these heavy vehicles are always breaking down, and desperate men will pay a fortune to keep their extremely costly mechanical investments working..................i should have been a diesel mechanic but i was never able to focus and work that hard

Based on your reman advice I decided against reman alternator. Mine gave out in my toyota diesel car. A new Toyota alternator was 800 quid, a reman was 400. Got the auto electrician to rebuild the original which he also approved as being the best option.

People are just lazy now. A lot of components on a vehicle/machinery can be rebuilt, as they have in the past, but now a lot of people just wanna swap parts and not actually fix them.

Yeah, trying to save a dollar on reman parts that run off the motor gears or can contaminate internal motor, tranny, or rearend isn't a good idea at all and this is a perfect example. Other reman stuff to stay away from would be fuel injector pumps and hydraulic oil pumps. Case dealer put a reman steering pump in a mxm190 I bought from them. 50 hours later pump died and shed fine metal flakes into transmission. 2 transmission oil/filter changes, still showing metal flakes in oil, and 1000 hours later the transmission started crapping. out. Just say NOOO to remans

The older Kent Moore tools were very high quality tools. Knew several people that worked at KM before they closed their factory in Jackson Michigan and outsourced a lot of their manufacturing overseas. Most everyone I knew took pride in working there, but like most skilled trade people in manufacturing there got screwed over when they closed.

A mechanic in my area had one of these type of water pumps bearing fail( I think it was OEM) . It took out the timing gears and bent the crankshaft. It had ball bearing shaped divots in the crank gear teeth. Incredible damage. A used engine was installed.I immediately checked the type of water pump on the JD tractor at the farm I worked at. Different pump or Id have immediately recommended a new water pump . It wasnt obvious the crank was bent but the mechanic knew it was possible with the kind of pressure that occured. A dial indicator revealed the worse news on top of the bad. At least it wasn't a case of low to no hours failure.

I bought a Reman injection pump from Deere. It came apart in 1 hour and wrecked the gear train on the front of the motor. No help from dealer or Deere. That's the new way of customer service/appreciation. When my Powerstroke needed a waterpump, I bought a new one from Ford. After 20 years, I figured that was the only way to NOT have to change a lifetime warranty one yearly, let alone any other damage it might cause. Yup, it cost $300 over $85, but so far, no issues after 5 years.

All these companies make cheap crap that won't last. One would expect Deere to be the best but they are not anymore. My Uncle was an engineer for John Deere in the 1960s. Worked with 20 series. Those engineers were very proud of their 4020. He told my Dad, Just keep the oil changed, They will last forever! He was right!

Was wondering you opinion I recently purchased a nh bb 9060 3 by 3 big square baler looking for a tractor that would run that and some tillage on 100 acres pr year was thinking of a caseih 7240-8940 new Holland 8970 or a Jd 8400 what would be the most reliable for the future based on your knowledge of working on tractors I’m just starting out on my own don’t want Def nor do I need a screen in the cab any suggestions would be appreciated i enjoy watching you videos thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to post them

My vote would be for the 8400. We have several 8000series over 20000hrs that have had very little done to them. Mainly just fix the 4wd seals from leaking every 5000hrs.

O.L.F Farmer uses one of these, only his is an 8120. He had to do a major in frame rebuild on his channel when one of the cylinder sleeves developed a vertical crack almost it's full length.

Hey Warren hope all is well. Not sure if you noticed or not, but in your last video on the broken leaf spring, the rubber plug was missing from the passenger side on the bump stop post. It was easy to miss if you weren't looking for it directly. I only noticed it because I was looking at the height difference between the two when you were comparing side to side alignment. If that driver hits a hard bump it's gonna be a hard metal to metal bang coming from the passenger side. Just trying to help out bud.

I laugh off $200 on my relic semi tractor. But I'll be damned that it's going to be down because I won't buy an extra $200 part over crap. The only defense I'll allow this guy to speak is that he bought it from a dealership which should come with some quality or warranty.

Are quite a few repairs are small stuff broken wire , wire connection sensors thing of that nature ? Then the small things that lead to big things such as this watet pump the cam gear which leads to the crank gear which leads to on and on just thinking ? Reman engines are best purchased from reputable engine suppliers . Jasper ain’t one of ‘em . Because they love to re-use parts even though they have already lived their service life . I bought my long block from “Power Train Companies” best price , They deliver and pick up at no additional cost and I was able to purchase their installation kit ( New water pump , Serpentine belt , plug wires , plugs , Air filter , Oil filter , Upper and Lower radiator hoses and Gasket set ) plus upgraded the warranty to Gold and still paid far less than I would have for a Jasper reman . Words to the wise . Shop around and do your research . Well worth the time .

Here's a perfect example of the phenomenon known as "False Economy" that people fall into. Thinking to save money, they purchase a much cheaper cost product- that in turn usually ends up costing substantially more- than the regularly "high priced" item, because of the inferiority of workmanship and/or materials when it prematurely fails. Hey, Warren- what's this $300 water pump going to cost now, when you're done, parts & labor? Twice? Three times? I work and one of the best marine repower boat yards in New England specializing in commercial fishing boat repowers. Stuff like c18s Scanias, 1000 man engine and a ton of smaller 450hp Cummins I repowered a lobster boat with a reman c12 it didn't last a week before the engine gave up, reman parts and engine are junk they aren't worth the packaging there shipped in

My uncle had a massive dairy operation about 90 miles north of Las Vegas neVada. He was a master mechanic diesel, gas, electric, hydraulic. He would by a fleet of auction hay trucks in Sacramento and drive them back to Bunkerville Nevada. He had an endless supply of spare parts. He was a master welder. His operation was all computers, he played the Chicago options board. He was one of the most gentle , kind men I have ever met. He died about ten years ago as a very rich man. He and my aunt never took time off in 45 years running the dairy operation.

brother was going to comment on your cabover spring replacement vidio and they were turned off but i was going too say you need to find a couple of those old 90s truck bed rubber mats you could roll them up put them in the back of your service trucks and slide them under shit thats in the dirt and if they get oil on them you can just pressure wash them off and avoid all that dirt blowing every where when you use air tools and they are better on your back than rocks lol
