It's refreshing to see familiar Game of Thrones locations returning in the second season of House of the Dragon. The Eyrie, the Twins and the debut of Stone Hedge. Also loved seeing Jace finally taking initiative after being passive for too long.

The redesign of the Eyrie is pretty nice, bringing it a little bit closer to George's vision of it.

Do you think the character Elinda may be a reference to you? Ryan appreciates you a lot! And Yandel is too young to appear...Let's hope she has a better ending than poor Gerardys, a nod to Vince Gerardis

I asked this on another recent vid of yours but also been wondering , with the wider more subtle lore reveals on HotD ; like those taken from that glimpse of text on HotD. I am curious if such reveals like those regarding Daenys / Daenys & Balerion / Daeny's dream etc. Or the reveal of Daenys' mother (who as far as i know never previously mentioned) as Elaena Targaryen and some info about that Elaena. Also the Targs potentially falling from grace before / in the lead up the Doom and that Elaena Targ's bitterness about it etc. Any inclination if these could be actual book canon / from GRRM lore reveals or would you suspect they do not go beyond HotD ? If anyone could provide such clarity can't think of anyone better than you two.

My understanding is that these are created by the show's writers and as we know from Ryan, George's involvement in this second season is substantially less than it was last season. This suggests to me that this is all mostly invented detail. It's possible there are nuggets in there from past discussions with George, but without someone explicitly saying so, we should not assume they are canon.

@@WesterosTV thanks for the info / clarity. I was suspicious myself , many take any of these types of details / reveals on these shows and run with them as if they are canon. But i am wary of these sorts of show-only details / reveals unless we get further clarity that they came from GRRM (like the prophecy in S1). If GRRM is behind a reveal we tend to eventually hear about it and have not thus far on these recent HotD lore reveals. I do think so many lore tweaks (almost every episode) this season i suspected GRRM's distance compared to S1. Plus his recent blog post(s) GRRM clearly even if subtly and respectfully airing a few gripes (and understandably so) ; even while praising aspects of the show as well.

Do you think Daemon seeing the river lords at like 3 in the morning was real or a vision? It seemed a really odd time for them to just turn up and complain. It's hard to tell what is real and what isn't with Daemon at the moment.

I like how they're playing up Daemon's ambitions. It's obvious that he's being plagued by his past and instead of confronting his past deeds in an attempt to evolve, maybe become a better husband and father, he regresses to the power hungry Rebel Prince because thats more safe than actual change. Guessing there's some sort of redemption arc coming up involving his daughters. Nettles is the only dragonseed we haven't seen. Starting to suspect they might just switch her out with Rhaena. There have been some theories that Nettles actually is Daemons daughter and if Rhaena gives up guarding Rhaenyras children to become a dragonrider it could lead to a conflict in which Daemon has to choose side... I dunno, we'll see.

Q; Why Targaryen women didn't train to be warriors, much like Visenya? I was wondering about this when Rheanyra in the episode was complaining about the lack of martial combat training in her upbringing.

It's an interesting question. Having them be capable of at least leading dragons into war, as Visenya and Rhaenys did, seems entirely reasonable. But it seems that as soon as they conquered Westeros, the Targaryens very rapidly assimilated to the norms of Westeros (incest aside!) Even Jaehaerys the Conciliator, whose great collaboration with his sister and wife Alysanne was largely very positive, seemed to hold decidedly sexist attitudes towards his own daughters.

Yeah i didn't like the portrayal of Freys. They just want them to be like the ones in GOT where they always have a price in exchange for an alliance. So he just feels like another Walder to me. I remember The World of Ice and Fire illustration of Forrest Frey and was expecting close to that image but instead we get some old bald guy.

I have a fear that there will be no mention or involvement with the wild dragons next episode. The cynical part of me thinks the Velaryon casting has resulted in the writers believing there’s no need for Nettles storyline, and by extension the wild dragons. Plus I don’t think they want to casual fans realising anyone can ride a dragon. Would have enjoyed the Cannibal slaughter.
