Lost our Westie in December 2023 🌈. Miss our boy, he was 14 and the smartest and quirkiest dog ever. He was our 3rd Westie, would never get another breed. Westies are the BEST.

Westies are the absolute Best! My westies were both rescued separately. I had my 1st Westie, Sandy for years before learning of Maggie needing to be rescued & jumped at the chance to get another Westie. 1 was fun but 2 was a greater addition to our home. Both fur babies are gone now but I miss them so much. I love watching Sami & his antics & journeys. Westies bring so much life & love to us. Thank you for sharing Sami with us all😘

Absolutely, must have a Westie. We have Scotties too, but there is a special quality that Westies have - a lady I met had two Westies - named Mirth and Merry, that kind of sums it up. I agree with other comments that it's not a zero maintenance lap dog. They need a lot of engagement, they're smart, independent, and the allergies are no joke. They keep you on your toes to give them what they need to be happy.

Westies are the besties. My friend has a Westies his name was Sammy. He was sooo wonderful. Playfull, loving, and loyal. I loved him souch. I don't know who took it harder his owner or me. When he passed on. 🐾🦴💖🦴💖😇🦴💖🐾

I have had 3 westies, 2 are gone, but still miss them. Gus had to stay in Ky with his big brother, my son. I miss him every day. The boys are so loving. Gus now has a new little brother a minature brother who will travel me, but will never replace my love for a Westie. A westie is most loving and protective dog there is. This can be a problem if a Westie thinks their owner is threatened.

Yes, they are protective. Unfortunately Sami is reactive to certain dogs because he feels he needs to protect me 😔 There is nothing I could do to change his reaction, even with training. He just thinks he has to take care of me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I joke that it's because I'm the source for his next meal haha 😜

I have a Westie, he turned 13 in January and is still alert and playfull as he was in the early days. He's my little clown, makes me laugh every day, couldn't hope for a better dog. When I don't feel well, he will stay next to me and comfort me. He's my 3rd Westie, and each one had their own personality. My 2nd Westie was a true athlete, he needed a lot of exercise, not just a plain walk, he had to run and he could keep the intense exercice for a long time. My actual Westie is the opposite, he enjoys walking but at his own pace, which is slowly, no rush, sniffing around and socialising with other dogs. I can't imagine my life without him, being retired, I spend most of my time with him, I bring him with me almost everywhere I go, there is nothing he enjoys most than a ride in the car. Yes, I do recommand having a Westie, but you have to know it requires daily caring and can be somewhat expensive to give hime the proper care he deserves. Give him a scent free and healthy environment, give him a good diet (I strongly recommand the book "The Forever Dog" by Dr. Karen Becker) and he will be that best loving friend you can ever dream of.

The loss of ours broke our hearts & we’re in the process of getting another one, but since we live in Montana they’re hard to find! Getting one from a breeder in Grand Junction Colorado.. we got our first one from a nearby shelter & they were glad to get rid of him bc he wasn’t a happy guy at all! After we got him home & gave him a lot of love & attention he turned into the best dog I’ve ever had!! They’re also not that inexpensive either! ❤

I’m on my second Westie. My first lived to age 15 was always healthy. My Westie now is 10 years old and healthy. I love him so much he is quite the comedian . He just loves me so much makes me happy.

used to have 2 cats, but they passed away about 10 years ago, and this is my first dog we got from a rescue :O. Been great so far!. Walking is tough....likes to sniff....things too long :D

My westie does the exact same thing as Sammy when it’s time to cuddle or snuggle. Runs to the back window and stares out into the beyond protecting us from rats, cats, foxes, and all other sort of critters.

I have had several different breeds throughout my life, Miss Arabella aka Bella Bean is my first and i cannot imagine my life without her! I fell in love with the breed when my mother got her Sammie (registered name: Sampson).

I'm late to the game here but I have owned 6 Westies since 1980. My most recent Westie is a female who has a beautiful personality around both people and all other dogs. I can't imagine being without Fiona, I'm 80 and hope she lives longer than me.

Z will be 16 in May 2024, no one believes me when I tell how old she is because she doesn't look it at all As Z has aged, she now prefers to sleep more and her senses of hearing and eyesight are dimmed - but she's still so energetic (when the mood strikes) and territorial and loyal and stubborn. Best pooch ever! ♥️
