I'm Chief Superintendent Paul Drover and I am commander of the Coventry Local Policing Area.
This week sees Op Advance return to Coventry following its previous success in August 2023.
Op Advance which allows us to draw resources in from across the force to focus on policing across Coventry.
We have already run this operation in Coventry and had great success so we hope to continue building on this.
Over the last few weeks we have carried out some really important work targeting county lines, anti-social behaviour and road safety.
This has already yielded some excellent results and the return of Op Advance will deliver more of the same.
This time we will be targeting our efforts on issues you’ve said are affecting Coventry the most.
Based on your feedback, we will be channelling resources into stopping drug dealing, preventing burglaries and robberies. We will also be working with partners to boost our efforts to help vulnerable young people stay away from a life of crime with our CIRV programme.
I have three priorities:
• Tackling violence and those who bring violence onto our streets.
• Focusing on tackling neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour.
• Delivering effective investigations and a good service to victims
You will see us deploy force-wide specialist departments such as operations, the dog unit, road policing and our drones’ team, in Coventry to support our warrants, arrests, and community engagement on the day. In particular, we will focus efforts on arrests and charge remands for violence and use of knives.
You will see more officers working with partners and volunteers to deal with the things that matter to you and address problems in your local community, such as anti-social behaviour, vehicle crime, robbery, burglary and investigating crimes that might not be visible to the public every day.
Keep up to date with all of our policing action via our social media, website, and WM Now. Thank you.
