The valley beyond is essentially the matrix, the virtual back up of every human and every thing in the real world just like the cradle is the back up of all the hosts and Westworld. Abernathy has the encryption key to open the door to the valley in his head. Ford transfers from Bernard and escapes into the valley beyond.

Its possible that trying to walk out of West World with a control unit in your purse might set off some alarms. They probably have those real-time X-ray screens like in the old Total Recall so people don't walk off with bits of the park as souvenirs. I also get the feeling that it would have raised suspicions if either she or Sizemore had left the park before or during the party. Of course, they never addressed the little bomb in Abernathy's spine. He wouldn't have gotten far unless they did a complete rebuild and replaced that vertebrae. Ooops.

The reason Dolores destroyed the cradle is because Arnold told her that in order for something to be real, it must be irreplaceable. Also, it means they can never be wiped, reset, controlled and become "unawake" again.

To me, the major theme is really a simple one: What is the point of survival in a strange world when it means losing everyone you love? Maeve still has a very narrow goal: to find her daughter. Delores is now sacrifing everyone she loves to get to the other world. And how can she do this lacking knowledge of how to be serviced. They were at the mesa every 10 minutes in season 1. Now Dolores expects to go forever without a tune-up or repairs?

pushkin1969, they were in the Mesa every time they got murdered and a few because of glitches or interviewed because of hosts that are a part of their narrative glitching. The majority of the time that we see Dolores being interviewed in season one is flashbacks to 30 years ago. It's a lot easier to not need repair when people aren't raping and murdering you. Dolores knows that her father is messed up because of what they put in his head and she's probably aware that she can't get him back at least not right now with the key in his head. We also don't know what Dolores knows and what she doesn't know about building and maintaining a robot. We have not been given anywhere close to 30 years of her memories. I would not be so quick to jump the gun. Plus, what Ludwin said.

My Grandma/Babcia escaped a work camp in Germany during WWII after losing everyone she loved, came to America alone with no English language skills after she walked from that camp in Poland, behind enemy lines to Paris where she worked in a brigade style restaurant for two years saving her money - Hope for Love is the only thing that keeps us going. We will sacrifice everything and even anyone for the people we love. ie The Last of Us.

Season Finale Prediction: Dolores becomes William. The Valley Beyond isn't just where the "souls" (control modules) of the recorded park guests are housed, but where the clone host bodies to house those control modules are being manufactured. The Cradle had backups of all the Hosts (like Dolores) - but also including the guests' clones. Destroying the Cradle ensured that there was no further digital backup of those guests. When they reach the Valley they will destroy any original physical versions of the guests' control modules, then use the equipment to move their own control modules into the cloned guests' host bodies. Finally they will insert blanks into their original Host bodies, destroy the lab, and flood the valley to cover their tracks. This leaves Dolores and the other Hosts to depart the park in the cloned bodies of the killed Delos executives. It has been mentioned elsewhere that the outside world does not yet know of the security breach in the park, only that there has been a "viral outbreak" and the park is quarantined. Who's body will Dolores end up in? The Man in Black himself, William. This would give her control of Delos. His story comes full circle, ending where it began. The episode will close with a montage of Dolores overseeing William's clone body being assembled, programming a fake Bernard, and the remaining module(s) being transferred before the explosion and flooding. William himself may or may not survive, leading into the story that will unfold in season 3. The other surviving main characters from Dolores' gang will end up in the bodies of the few executives we got to meet personally during the first couple episodes of season 2. Side prediction: At least one of the people in the "two weeks later" timeline is a clone, with a Host's mind controlling their actions.

I think the reason Abernathy stopped Dolores at that moment is that the cradle had just blown up and the mesh network had just come down. It probably triggered something in Abernathy.

Kiksuya was beautiful - if a little short (it seemed short at 1 hour and 1 minute). I am still wondering what they did with Stubbs when they kidnapped him the first time. I am positive he showed them the door, literally. So the top of the pyramid of consciousness is time. That's it. I knew it. I knew Time in the scientific sense of the word had something to do with it as I mentioned 5 episodes ago - and why not - it's the stuff Evolution is made of. The nature of our beings has everything to do with Time.

I don't think that Dolores has escaped Westworld in the 2 weeks ahead timeline, I think that most if not all the missing hosts are tucked away at the facility in the Valley Beyond, which is probably at the bottom of that body of water. When Strand, Hale, Bernard and Stubbs arrive there they'll be in for a surprise. I also think the facility at the Valley Beyond is essentially a cradle designed for the human-host hybrids, and has all the accumulated data of the Delos research project stored within it.

I hope this season ends with Stubbs getting that pay raise because seriously he’s been dealing with so much drama this season that he looks perpetually just so done with everyone, this man has been side eyeing people since episode 1 of season 1, he’s been warning people of a robot rebellion and nobody listens, and now it’s here and suddenly everyone and their mother is pointing guns to his head - honestly I want him to get to the valley behind and just burn everything down so neither hosts nor humans get to win and he just peace out ✌️ I mean really, poor man has had guns pointed at his head by hosts AND humans, both sides haven’t treated him with much respect at all It’s always the quiet ones you gotta watch out for, I’m just waiting for Stubbs to finally get his moment and that pay raise which he thoroughly deserves

I assume if Maive’s daughter were to get out of the park (she won’t) that it would kind of be a “twilight” situation. They’d have to move schools and etc. once people began to notice that neither of them aged. Definitely the most frustrating thing would be being like 50 and still treated by others as if you are 10.

In the end timeline, Bernard is leading Charlotte into a trap, and she's so focused on getting her key back that she doesn't realize it. She may be the trigger that ends humanity. Bernard was left behind to draw humans back to the valley beyond.

Anthony Warren, when Stubbs holds the gun to Abernathy's head, that is in the past. When they go to Ford's secret house, that is in the present timeline. We don't know what happened in between yet. So, yes. Thinking Stubbs might be in on the plan with Hale at this point is plausible. I don't think it's the case, Stubbs isn't that smart or that good of an actor, but that's why they think that. Not to make you eat your own words, but let's be honest that's the whole reason why I'm commenting. Are you watching the same show? Try and pay attention to the timelines a little better. Stubbs, Hale, Bernard, all of Bernard's copies: present timeline Host takeover in the Mesa and blowing up the Cradle: past timeline Everything in between, we don't know. Hale and Stubbs may find out that Bernard is a host this coming Sunday. Maybe Hale just finds out, maybe Hale has known all along, maybe that scene from this episode was the time they both found out, maybe it was the time just Stubbs found out, maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see. /bitch lol

I don't have a theory for the connection yet, and I had to go back to rewatch "Riddle of the Sphinx" to compare them, but it's definitely the same guy! Do you guys have any theories on this?

Anthony Warren - I agree. I think Ford's "game" for William is to get him to go back to being a white hat again. To go back to being the man he was when he 1st stepped foot into Westworld, and didn't just see the Hosts as "things", but was actually able to even fall in love with one! I think Ford needs & wants William's help in setting his creations free. But William won't be ready/able to do that, until he can go "back to the beginning". That's why Ford tells him if he's looking forward... he's looking in the wrong direction. He needs to remember the man he USED to be, and get back to that. But of course... I could totally be wrong! 😂 That's the brilliance of this show! Hahaha...

They could do it on any show, I just suggested GoT as it’s already watched and also, especially with old episodes, you know the end point of certain characters. So we know certain choices had good and bad results. It was just an idea. It wouldn’t need animating. All they’d need to do is watch the show with headphones on (to not pick up GoT audio) and discuss what they’re watching. If they’re rewatching the old episodes it seemed like a good idea.

AlaskanGoat, ghost Nation has only shown themselves to be the non murderous group of hosts. If Grace would have stuck around for just a couple of more minutes, at the end of the scene they all walked away leaving the humans unharmed. They also only gathered the seemingly most innocent humans considering how innocent a human could be at Westworld. They never harmed them and then they left them on the beach, probably a point of rescue if help ever got sent or leaving them with Ashley because they knew he could keep them safe or get them to safety. I don't understand how you don't see this. Instead of killing Maeve and her daughter right then and there, he tells her to come with him because they're going to the same place. Her PTSD just kicked in. I get that they are Indians, and I get that Maeve freaks out around them, but there is absolutely no hint at all that ghost Nation are bad guys. Plus, I'm pretty sure the memory of ghost Nation attacking her was given to her to cover up the man in Black attacking her. So that way if she ever remembered or dreamed about it she would not remember William, she would dream about something in her own world. Just because some of Shogun world is just a remake of Westworld, does not mean that all of it is.

Rich Porter, I like to think that Dolores swapped them and put the hosts into new bodies. Maybe human copies bodies, but that's what I'm hoping happened. So the host's that have blank ball brains, whatever they're called, and are now replicas of humans in the real world that have those hosts them. Or at least in new host bodies.

Poppin - They did a bit. They talked about the fact that he got shot a lot of times but survived, and what that could potentially mean. They also said they were happy that it was Lawrence who came to his aide & not his daughter, which everyone was expecting, and would have been a tad cliche. You can’t create a “race” of hosts - they are just things that are built. Maeve doesn’t have a daughter - it’s just a story as Lee said. Are there thousands of places to build hosts? Far as I know the “factories” are only in WW - with the Mesa a major mess where does the “race” get built? Suspension of disbelief only works when the pieces hold up. WW is nothing but holes of nonsense...all of these “extended” discussions are mostly silly and point out the nonsense. Utterly fabulous show!
