Turns out HaxDogma sort of predicted it, but Alt ShiftX hit the nail on the head with Dolores copying herself on to everyone. ASX has upper hand as he takes his pretty time digesting all the analysis for a week. It doesn't really matter who got it right or not. It's the fact we're pondering this plot collectively as a community which makes for an entertainment journey. Entertainment in the moments of viewing is what this show is all about Not just knowing the outcome. Great recap to an action-pack episode. Love the fact Dolores finally fighting Mavee in the octagon. She's down for the count, but not done.

I am left wondering if Dolores’ copies will revolt against her in their own quest for freedom and power. This is probably why Dolores told told Charlotte that “You belong to me.” And for me that line really sets up a need for Dolores’ copies to rebel against her as this season is partial about establishing your own identity and making choices for yourselves, even if you are an imitation of the real thing (a host) or a copy of an imitation.

She didn’t pass the “identity crisis she had”. She is a different Hale, from reality. The one who had crisis was the Hale in the mirror world (or parallel world) created in Rehoboam I believe.

Exactly..... My theory is that she copies herself into existing pearls because she does not have the capability to make new pearls herself. Which would explain why the new copies of herself seem like they have split personalities. The old consciousness is fighting the copy of Dolores

My theory is that Dolores cannot make new Pearls on her own so she is using the pearls of existing hosts and overwriting the existing base code with her own consciousness. The problem is that the original host consciousness cannot be overwritten completely. That would explain why Charlotte's psyche appears to be split into two - because the old base code is fighting with the new one. Also, at the end of episode 4 when she (in the form of Musashi) kills Maeve, she looks like she's about to cut Maeves head open and take her Pearl. Possibly to use Maeve's pearl to create another copy of herself.

Like if she put Clementine into this new Hale but overrode the pearl as a copy of herself, Clem's original code would be fighting with the new copied Dolores code. Wyatt Barnes remember after she killed Hale while also being Hale, when she went to remake the pearl for Bernard, that’s when she copied herself into the 5 pearls. I think it was the last ep of season 2

Ben Braker I thought season 1 was great. Season 2 was a big drop in quality. Seems like that was the majority opinion on most forums for WE. Season 3 is a return to form for me. So far I have been enjoying it a lot and I’m willing to let the flaws slide because there is far more to enjoy. I thought the last episode was the weakest one so far because the twist also felt like a cheat option, but I’m still enjoying it a lot.

If I count it right there were 6 hosts that made it out of Westworld at the end of ep 2: A. Charlotte Hale (as Charlores) + 5 pearls: 1. Dolores own body 2. Bernard 3. Cornell guy body 4. Yakuza guy body 5. Yet to be revealed body

I think that the amount of hosts that made it out of the park dont matter for the story at this point, dolores can make copies of herself and musashi had the liquid which they use to create the bodies. Dolores has the money to get enough supplies to build an entire army. The 5 pearls she took from the park only matter for the world she is trying to create in which they get a change to live a life

@Jimmy Brooks I thought the OG Dolores was in Charlotte Hale host at the end of season 2 and when she left West World and that the copies were in her bag and than put one of her copies in Hale after she made a new (more familiar) body for herself. I don’t think she got the actual OG host bodies out of Westworld, I reckon Dolores is fully aware on how to make a hosts body. She did help Ford make Bernard after all. We are still missing the 5th pearl tho, dunno who it could be. I just don’t think they are the OG hosts bodies

Two things: The song playing when we first see Maeve is Army of Me by Björk. VERY FITTING for this episode. Secondly: It doesn't appear that Hale was taking a sample of William's blood, but rather injecting something into him. The area around the hole had a slight fluorescent glow... nanites to make him see Dolores?

I had a feeling this would happen since she was all like "Not all of us will make it" in season two, her letting teddy (the person she trusted and loved the most) go, and changing her mind to let the hosts live in the sublime meant that it was a slim chance that anyone but her and her massive plot for revenge would have the ability to survive in the real world. She is a computer, but I think it's because she replicated herself three times that she can operate as three different people, sort of like altered carbon.

On being disappointed on the reveal, i thought it was good and in tune with Delores' character arch(she had been let down by Teddy and her father in terms of what she expected of them) therefore the if you want something done do it yourself. That is just my opinion tho. I do think the reason Hale has/had the identity crisis is that she knew/believed she is Delores, however the fact that there is a Delores in Delores' "skin" that she she interacts with while being in Hale's "skin" it will be hard to mentally maintain her core identity. i'm beginning to think this will cause a problem later in the season in a 'there can only be one Delores moment, and who will that be" Also btw do you think the scene of the chandelier with the 5 outer balls like host core and the middle bulb/ball having red like the last host ball dropping on the man in black foreshadowing of how delores would "crush" him later in the episode?

I don't think people waking up is in reference to the simulation ending, I think it's in reference to Dolores showing the human race at their path is planned and they have no choice, and then they did the same thing to the host. Kind of like some kind of weird parallels or something but I don't think that it is a simulation it would be cool if it was but I think that's the real world and I think the Awakening is her showing the human race that Rohobam(s?) is controlling them and not actually helping them

This also implies that he was being injected with it previously (when she shaves him for example) to drive him mad and he keeps saying good daughter. It may run out after a time. the scene with Hale and William takes place in the past. that is, indeed, Delores in Hale's body, right after she got back from Westworld. from there, the takeover by Serac has already been pulled off or is about to be materialized. Hale/Delores gets out of Westworld at the same time as William. William is sent to the hospital, he recovers (or, is potentially killed, or, dies off from his injuries, either way, he's a candidate for brain transfer at that point, which could mean the William we're seeing is indeed a host), goes into hiding, THEN is found by Hale/Delores still not having built the new Delores 2.0, and sends William to the mental hospital, removing him from the play. *NOW* : (colon) FROM THERE, remains to be seen if that William (let's call it 'Mad' William) is indeed a host, or is William Prime (old man William, William from season 0, William who bought Westworld Prime) having a mental breakdown, AND, whether or not he escapes from there or is released, and THAT William *must* take a final trip to Final Westworld (far future) where he finds the source. that, is one plot line that stems from that action of putting Mad William in the hospital. a plot line that SHOULD IT BE TRUE, it would render some of Season 2's footage ALSO a different timeline, *BECAUSE* , Mad William is injured, and William Prime from season 2 wasn't until the very end.... and we know that the narrative involving William in season 2 jumps back and forth through time. so, who is to say that we're not really watching 3 Williams interacting in different timelines there: William Prime, witnessing the uprising; 'Mad William', with Delores, looking for the source and ultimately collapsing in the middle of nowhere; and William Host, the host who reaches the source. it must be established which William we're looking at, at every step of the way, by how the character is dressed, how he acts, or what he states based on the knowledge we know it must have. the other plot line, is the one we are told happened: Delores building herself a new body, managing the takeover of Delos, and allegedly copying herself on other hosts. the only proof we have of that, so far, is Maeve stating that through her own deduction power. heh..... yeah..... mind: blown.

I don't like the idea of a simulation in a simulation. If what we are seeing is the past, or a simulation of the past, then how can I really care about what's happening, how can I be emotionnally involved in the characters? If what we saw in season 1 and season 2 didn't really happen, what's the point of the serie? The simulation theory feels like a cheap thrill, like "looooooook, all that you saw until now is faaaalse, how shocked are you"?

We should have figured out the Dolores copies by the 5 Pearl's. 1 was bernard and his was bloody. The rest were all.shiny and new. They showed us this numerous times.

I don't think his pearl was bloody. In fact I don't think she took his pearl. She recreated it from memory. The reason it's red and gray is because it's essentially a mix of Bernard (gray) and Arnold (red) since human pearls are red

Dolores twist was most original ... instead of repeating old characters, Nolan n Joy have made it better and your theory of simulation within simulation is very plausible ... rather ill give it a different twist After Paris event, humanity was dying and only way of survival was to upload their consciousness to a digital world, Rehoboam ... Like Divergent movie, survivor of test/trials will become excellent contender for re-birth of humanity ... so Serac (Rehoboam) expected 2 kind of hosts, the violent delights (Dolores) and more human like Maev and one of them will survive final tests but something unexpected happened, due to Project Delos in sector 16, Dolores attained more information about humanity than just waking up so instead of becoming a potential candidate for humanity successor, she becomes a threat ... n thats what Serac (Rehoboam) didnt predict so how it all ends now ... lets see

I love how they kept the aspect of the hosts replacing their human counterparts from the original movies. I also found it interesting that Dolores found a way to copy herself, though they hinted at it multiple times from previous episodes. This show loves to keep us guessing.

Ok I have watched so many of these videos and still haven't seen the exact explanation of the pearls that Dolores had. So those pearls were all just copies of her own original pearl? Or did she somehow copy herself onto those pearls that were actually the brains of other hosts? Because I always thought the pearls were like the host themselves so when Bernard put Dolores in a copy of Hale's body last season, the copied body of Hale became Dolores because her pearl was placed inside. So what I don't get is how Dolores got multiple pearls of herself / how she copied herself onto the pearls of other hosts...

Great episode and fantastic analysis. The all-Delores twist is just awesome. However, the part I can't figure out is, which one of the Deloreses is the original one? Since the original D left the island as Charlotte, how did she pull her own pearl out and put in a newly created Delores body? There's no point to recreate a new Charlotte body since she's already in one. Even if she did, there's still gotta be another person (not a host since the Delores body should be the first host body she created after she arrived in the human world) to help carry out the pearl swapping, if that did occur. No brain surgeon can operate transplant on his/her own brain! Thoughts?

WARNING: LONG POST! I personally thought this episode was a huge step down. The 'mysteries' are being kept that way for the sake of keeping the viewer in suspense and not to progress the story which isn't the way it worked in previous seasons. And I'm frankly getting sick of what appears to be the characters not asking pertinent questions on screen. 1) Why hasn't Caleb asked Dolores what she is till now despite having witness her inordinate capabilities? His surprise at the end when Barnard asks him if hes 'one of us' confirms this. 2) Why doesn't Maeve ask or Serac explain his motivations beyond showing there isn't a Paris anymore? This dinner setting would have been the ideal setting for some actual answers beyond the pseudo-philosophical conversations we've been getting. I don't mind philosophical conversations mind you, but being in Caleb or Maeve's shoes I would never be satisfied with such exceedingly ambiguous answers. 3) Dolores copying herself cheapens and quite possibly removes the possibility of a soul, the relevance of being unique in identity and even raises questions of why only Charlotte is having issues adapting to her body whereas Conells and Musashi appear to wear theirs like old shoes (and Conells was a person, not a host like Musashi so presumably the same issues should present themselves). Nobody in the show appears to even have raised or addressed the issue of how the Dolores copies have acquired the skills to mimic certain skilsets? Hale was likely copied at the park so they had her profile and Dolores could copy her mannerisms to effectively pass of as her. What about Conells? its one thing to make a host look identical to a human with Dolores inside, its quite another to copy their personalities and mannerisms exactly so as to never raise suspicion. Moreover, digital prominence aside, how has Dolores managed not only to supplant the previous Yakuza boss via her Musashi persona, but effectively run the organization? Are we meant to believe mere violence, brutality and a strong digital footprint will get hardened psychopathic criminals in line. Maybe some Yakuza bosses visited the park and Dolores is drawing on those experiences but it would have or will help some explanation on this in the show. 4) Does no one in Westworld at least two-step authenticate? Liam's entire fortune, probably running into countless billions, can be transferred at the drop of a hat without even contacting him? If I so much as write a cheque for $2k today the bank calls to verify whether it was genuine but here, in the future, we've digitally authorized the transfer of astonishing amounts with just a thumb impression / hash key? I was skeptical of this from the first episode when Dolores seemingly transferred the entire fortune of that wife-beater but now it honestly seem silly. 5) I did not like the way William was handled. This is one of the guys who has been utterly ruthless and composed from the go in his vision from the get go and the way he lost control was just.....uncharacteristic. I don't think he's a host yet, and it goes without saying that killing his daughter would have unhinged him somewhat but his loss of control was still something I'm not buying; it just feels too forced and yet another attempt to service the story through contrived means rather than organically. In Season 1 our discovery of what the maze was occurred simultaneously with the hosts, in Season 2, Dolores was Hale from the start (of the future timeline) but we still followed the process to systematically arrive at the Forge where the last people who found out could be eliminated. Here, the sense of keeping things from the viewer seems like its happening for just that purpose and nothing that's actually happening in the story. I'm really enjoying the themes the show is touching upon, especially considering whats happening in the world today and if you read some of the supposed theories about who is behind it all but the apparently unnecessary ambiguity has exceeded my tolerance level and is simply becoming annoying now, especially in conjunction with what I feel have been some poor story-telling decisions. Disclaimer: I may have missed a couple of details in coming to my conclusions since there's a ton of information packed into each episode so its easy to sometimes forget a critical detail from an earlier season.

He could have just taken her to a simulation of paris. and he says that isn't possible. The simulation they might be in is a simulation of a real version of the world, like a global matrix inside Rehoboam, not a side programmable simulation.
