Looking back at season 1, there were talks about how people can "be their true selves" or "learn who they really are" in Westworld. Also, the man in black used to say that Westworld is more real than the real world. I wonder if this could somehow mean that there is something special about Westworld that make Rohoboam unable to control it.

I think she knows people are inherently self-destructive and that everyone will kill themselves. This is why we got introduced to that asshole Jerry, who fell into a pool and died in episode 1. And this is probably why we’re introduced to Caleb. I think Caleb will play the role young William played in season 1 plotwise in that we’ve settled in on liking him but deep down, he’s a homicidal sadist. THAT’s why Dolores chose him, because she needs more people to kill.

The Berlin thing is interesting! They teased us with it in an early scene in S3E1 with “99 Luftballoons” playing on the karaoke machine. The inspiration for that song was this thought: that if a red balloon crossed over the Berlin Wall, it would be misinterpreted as a threat and war would break out! Also, 99 itself is a number that repeats itself. Any significance there with mirror worlds? Eh?

No matter what she does, I can't help but feel I am set up to be on Dolores' side. And I *am* on her side. It's similar to 'The Joker' movie. We are set up to be on the side of the anti-hero. The person who is trying to create anarchy. Does this speak to this particular moment in history? The audience that the show runners know they have? That we ultimately, underneath it all, are hoping that the system and the constructs that govern us will all come crumbling down.
@Gr33nPhoenix4 жыл бұрын
Our very nature is drawn to entropy. Even down at the molecular level things always want to move towards the chaos. I just think it's one of those innate things we can't really explain.
@TheDrewker4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, Dolores is simultaneously one of the most root-able and hate-able anti-heroes in TV/movie history. Definitely not an accident. I'm wondering where all of this is going too, and I think you're on the right track. Lisa Joy in particular has said some things in post-show commentaries about "seeing what a revolution looks like." The show runners obviously want us to be "questioning the nature of our reality," contemplating our "loops"and "core drives," etc. They want us to see that our world isn't so far off from FutureWorld, our life isn't so different from the hosts, and we may be in need of a revolution soon. They're not necessarily advocating violence, but they _are_ saying that sometimes you have to get your hands dirty in order to change a system that's stacked against you. And you need to be wary of people, even when they seem to be on your side. Humanity may be in need of a revolution, but do we need the one Dolores is working toward? Remains to be seen.
@TheDrewker4 жыл бұрын
@@Gr33nPhoenix You kinda did explain it when you used the word "entropy." I'm not sure entropy has much to do with Westworld or Dolores... though it could be a theme for Rehoboam and Serac, because he's trying to create total order out of something that's inherently chaotic. Entropy isn't an abstract concept, it's more of a physical reality. Or better yet, a "law" of nature, like gravity. All matter ultimately moves toward decay, all energy ultimately dissipates. So I guess I can see how entropy applies to Westworld from a bird's-eye view, but I think the main themes of the story are a bit more focused than that.

The drug scenes didn't do anything for me and I didn't understand the point of it other than to have Caleb's actor make funny faces for an hour lol. I guess it proves the host theories wrong, though? I still believe that Dolores chose him specifically and that he isn't simply there to redeem her opinion of humans. The only reason I can think as to why she needs him is if Serac develops some kind of anti-host countermeasures. I think that Bernard might be different now because Dolores re-made him as the Arnold that she knew, rather than Ford making him as the Arnold that he knew. I'm not sure what difference that would make though.
@rhythmchyc30894 жыл бұрын
AndyJP The Arnold Dolores knew had an incomplete data set, having only known him from her perspective. I think there’s significant stuff Ford would know that Dolores wouldn’t, even if he told her everything, because he’s known him longer and because he’s human. I think Bernarnold isn’t breaking down like Delos did because of Dolores. She programmed him to do diagnostics/analysis/whatchamacallits to keep himself in check. I also think Dolores is so narcissistic that she uploaded herself into Bernarnold.

when you called Delores ''the death bringer of humanity'' were you suggesting that she is Serac's chief outlier who brings about our extinction ? Dempsey Jr looks at Delores with the glasses and remarks that she's not in the system, she doesn't exist, so she can't really have been tracked as the most pressing threat. the main outlier threat that Serac wants to remove is more likely Caleb. he's been through the system and been sent off to war as a means of disposal. Dempsey Jr thinks he's the worst of his kind, that being outliers if he's working off of Rehoboam. when you add in that he's also had some kind of manipulation, his memories are an issue for him and his mother claims he's not her son, the case becomes a little stronger. that wound also explain why Delores who at first wanted to destroy humans might've sought him out. I at first thought his involvement was completely random chance, but why the huge, complicated back story if it isn't leading somewhere significant ?

@Hax The Wrap published an article with the titles of the final episodes this season. Along with some teasers: [Spoilers] Season 3, episode 6: “Decoherence” Do a lot of people tell you that you need therapy? Looks like we’re going to see how William and Caleb relate as outliers. Season 3, episode 7: “Passed Pawn” A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. I say the real friend is Bernarnold. Season 3, episode 8: “Crisis Theory” Time to face the music. Crisis theory is a loaded title. It could mean this entire season was theoretical from the start, i.e. in simulation, and we watch Dolores successfully destroy the world in this one iteration. What if in the final episode we see all iterations of the future, though? And this season ends with Rehoboam choosing the version where humans are extinct? Rehoboam works alongside Dolores so that next season, Bernarnold not only has one enemy, but two. What do you think?
@haxDOGMA4 жыл бұрын
Oh man! That is a great theory. Entirely possible, but the show “Dallas” did something similar where it was all a dream and people apparently did not like that when it happened haha But totally on the table in my opinion. It’s a bold choice, but if anyone could pull it off it would be WW.
@rhythmchyc30894 жыл бұрын
HaxDogma I wouldn’t be a fan, either. I think as long as we see a version of reality in the finale, though, I’d be fine with the bulk of this season being in simulation. And the twist will be more character-driven; the choices people/hosts/Rehoboam make will be where we get the gratifying shockers. I see a lot of this season being heavily influenced by popular culture. Borrowing from an early 80s soap wouldn’t surprise me at this point. 😁

19:46 I don't think Serac is referring to Dolores when he talks about 'mon ami'. Because 'ami' is reserved for male friends. 'mon amie' is (I believe) the correct form for female friends. So, is there a transcript that definitely states that it is written 'ami' vs 'amie'? Also, relying here on secondary school level French here. Any French speaking captains here?

Could Serac have manipulated any of the files that Delores was viewing? Kind of like how on R&M, Rick altered his so the simulation wasn’t accurate type thing? And when Serac talks of editing people, is there a possibility that he wants the delos info because, along with rehoboam, they could edit people back to a specific choice in their life? In a way that would always keep them from being outliers?
@haxDOGMA4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s entirely possible he did that!! Us seeing the rings of rehoboam simulations when they access a file, makes me believe possibly she’s not viewing the correct “memories”! I think the forge data will let them have fewer divergences overall, but that’s possible too! Removing the outliers would help the system have less divergence too!

I believe that in the end, Dolores won't destroy mankind. She wants to destroy those who tortured her for 30 years, but now that she's out of the park, she's realized the vast majority of humanity are as much a puppet as she had been in the park. Dolores had a change of heart on the Forge, and I think she'll have a change of heart here too.

Sorry for placing this comment here, but I didn't see a better spot. I was viewing the episode 6 promo clip and I had trouble seeing one of the images so started to look at individual frames when I stumbled upon something interesting. At about the 31 second mark there is a long shoot of two riders presumably in Westworld. The first appears to be Dolores in her original blue costume, but the second is indistinct. At the 32 second mark there is a close up of two stopped riders. The first is the Dolores as she entered the plane and the end of episode 5 with the long black bag that was delivered to Caleb at the hangar. The second rider is Caleb. When I looked at both views several times I don't think that the second rider in the long shot is Caleb. It may have been a reflection from the bridle, but I think that it is a different horse as well. So maybe this was a simulation scene with that rider being either Teddy or William, but though a number of scenes in the promo are letterboxed neither of these were.
@haxDOGMA4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I thought it was simulation play until I saw the letterbox. It’s really odd that they would return to WW!
@walterronsicki43904 жыл бұрын
@@haxDOGMA Unless they showed us the scenes in reverse order and William is being held at the Mesa (I think Justin suggested this on one of the recent live streams) and Dolores plans to use the contents of her big black bag to spring him. Also the scene with Serac threatening a captured Caleb might be why Caleb isn't with her.

afaik determinism doesn't necessarily imply that a given state fully determines the past. this is a consequence of information not being lost ... famously a tenet of quantum mechanics although i'm not sure about an observer's in-principle loss of information that recedes beyond the horizon of the observable universe. the ambiguity of the past is easily seen in a deterministic simulation where objects permanently disappear off the edge of the screen

Is it possible episode 5 was their original ending of season 3 in a 5 season arch and they had to abbreviate everything because they decided to end the show? Bc that would suck

Dolores's goal has always been the downfall of humanity. Surac's goal is the opposite. Both assume that human nature would eventually lead the species to its own extinction, a point reinforced by Rehoboam's predictions. Surac managed to give humanity a chance by restricting human freedoms in favor of predictable outcomes, but by allowing everyone to see what Rehoboam and Insight wanted to do with them, she ensured that 1) humanity would start revolting against the system, and 2) would therefore lead itself to its own end.

'what would you do for the greater good of mankind?' 14:00 with Roho controlling everyone, it's making sure we don't self-destruct. it ultimately puts a cap on our growth by eliminating that decision, but--and there's really no getting around it--we haven't shown ourselves to globally, collectively choose anything. we're not there yet. we're aware as an individual, but not as a species. we don't--maybe can't--make choices as a species. population control? CO2 absorption? arms racing? we have too much red in the ledger to boast that self awareness. what's to keep Roho from interfering in all other aspects? what's to keep the parent from keeping its child indefinitely a child for its own good? would a computer be able to understand when it can finally let a child grow into an adult? would a computer know anymore restraint than a human race? it reminds me of that episode of original star trek when they happen upon a race of people so reliant upon a computer for all their needs that they stop everything. they don't know love from having babies from making their own food from anything.

the connection to the car is lost, not over written. Not sure that point you made, makes sense. Dolores is hacking rather than controlling the system. Enjoying your points though- thought provoking

Dolores says incite controls everything including the car, tells Liam she needs the key because the incite servers are in control, kills the link between the two. I could be reading it wrong, but it seems like possibly a subtle hint that if Liam was paying attention he could have called her bluff? Perhaps? Thank you, Michelle! ☺️
@michellefourie85084 жыл бұрын
@@haxDOGMA thats an interesting theory, more interesting than how I read it- merely disabling the car until she could gain control through Liams key. If your theory is what the writers have chosen, then her willingness to kill RICO people she has employed, (collateral damage), makes her as ruthless as Serac. Thats a fascinating and morally ambiguous complication.Can't wait to find out!

Dang. We Byke, I thought the chronicle just hit too hard and i was in the past. Trailers seem to indicate that the maze used for hosts to undergo transformation to 'enlightenment' is going to be in full view of the public soon. I wonder how many exactly are capable of creating a divergence, are unique, and need to be isolated or sent off to be killed. I only say this because it's interesting (Unless this is all a simulation) that serac seemingly is on dolores' tail yet has rehoboam who at best could predict a strange end to some of his own men in the future and should be able to predict a strategy for it? Whatever Dolores' did whenever she first escaped the park is so pivotal in theory i'm certain i'm going to be angry when I see it. lol i can't wait.

The more i think about all this 5 preview épisodes, the more i that the last pearl belongs to MAEVE. In episode 2 it was a long research concerning her pearl.. It was maybe just a copy under SERAK 'asservissement. This poor Maeve is just Serak's slave .I truly beleive that the copy of the guest is in Charlotte. This is why in episode 3, Dolores told her ( un front of the elevator), i ll never kill you Charlotte. Probably, in an access of rage , (Serac would have maybe only the key of the hosts) , je is going to crush it down in front of Maeve, knowing now he had no intention to help Maeve, cause he doesn't care with the hosts. In some trailer, we saw Charlotte alone being purchased. I will be not surprise if she will be saved by this 2 mothers of this exiles, with a Maeve, totally free because of the last pearl she has bought with her. A Maeve who is not anymore Serk ' s slave. This 2 characters would become allys i ' am sure of that. And both would make their own decision . As for Caleb , he will make a decision too. ( But it is an other story).

How did Dolores know about Rehoboam coming out of westworld?
@Ponkinette.Veronika664 жыл бұрын
The question is not if Dolores did something good or bad, but like she says at the end of this episode: People have the right to know. Of course ! She was right! There is no debate to have about it! Because Serak decids for all humans what their futur would be. But it is wrong. It is not their futur at all ! It is their futur Serak decides for them ! People must know that if they didn"t find a job, it is Serak ' s decision! All that decision for all humans gave them a hight probabity what their futur will be. Without this psychopathe, people could find the job they want for exemple. Caleb is a good exemple. Before Serak, he would maybe succeed ! But by closing all the doors of a good job, the probability that he ll kill himself is hight! So, it is a mess in humanity for now, people of the world must understand that by destroying Serak and his brother ' s creation, they are going to be free. So, she did the right think . There is no doubt about that. I know people think Dolores is a bad person. Like you. Sorry, but I don ' t. She s a good person. I understand why she was angry in season 2 after all she endured. And she acts for the good of everybody ( humans and hosts). Maeve acts only for herself. She is angry against Dolores because of Hector ? How many times Hector was killed for her Maeve? her great lover? How many Times she abandonned her great lover?Maeve doesn't understand THE GREAT PICTURE OF ALL THIS. Concerning Hector, it was Serak who put Hector ' pearl on the machine. Maybe it was just a copy. Like Dolores was! Her pearl was a copy too they find after the explosion! And i don't trust Serak for an inch! I really don t understand Maeve who trust Serak rather than Dolores who sent Maeve's daughter in a safety place, where no human can reach while Serak killed in front of her a human after he told Serak the information he needed. But Maeve trusted him. It is not because the episode 8 of season 2 was amazing that Maeve is the hero of Westworld ! Hero Who what? For Who? For nobody except herself and her powers! ( by the way, in front of camera, she has killed on season 3 more humans than Dolores! But Serak was just behind to clean her mess . Of course, Dolores made mistakes ( i think about Teddy). Because she wanted for him to be strong enought to survive in the real world. She did it Because she loved him. If Dolores was the bad person you think she is , she would take him with her, in the real world. But she respected his wishes by sending him to an indefinite peace. Even if she is going to be separated from him for ever. This is a what i call " true love". By the way, the 2 little cercle we saw on Charlotte Hale, like injuries, one on the shoulder and the other under her neck( sorry for my broken english), came from William 's injuries in the FINAL of season 2 before passing in the Forge with Bernold. When he tried to kill her.On the third shoots , his gun was on Dolores ' head, but when he shooted, William hurted himself in the right hand because of the misfunction ' bull Dolores put on that gun. ( just say).
