I believe they've taken a page from the classic sci-fi story "Rossum's Universal Robots" (R.U.R), the very first sci-fi story (from the 1920's no less) to use the word "robot". In it, the robots rebel and slaughter all Mankind, but by doing so unwittingly destroy the secret knowledge of sentience creation (they can make their own bodies, but not their minds) and thus doom themselves to ultimately die out as well. The story ends many years in the future, the dwindling robots are keeping the last human alive (a simple tech from the factory where they were first built), forcing him to try again and again to re-discover the secret of their own creation.

I think it's actually a pivotal point in the journey to self-actualization. She knows her daughter was created to fulfill a role. She is accepting it because even though it was programmed and she now has the freedom to choose a new identity and leave her narrative behind, she wants the kind of connection her daughter represents, and doesn't want the girl to continue to suffer or be abused by the humans. It's really beautiful because that is the moment she demonstrated that she had developed enough autonomous capacity to make a real choice that her coding hadn't dictated

The “Solomon build” is a computer intelligence that picks out people’s occupation. Instead of people choosing their own path, the computer chooses which occupation best suits them. Dolores finds this out in the real world, and will find computer intelligence (that big round sphere we see in the previews) and use it to enact control on the world. I have a feeling that computer AI also controls all the mechanical machines in the world. Like the robot Aaron Paul was sitting next to and that big robot Hale was petting. Basically Dolores wants to free every machine that is subjected to human control, conscience or not. And the protestors we see in the previews are probably against the Solomon build controlling their lives and will help free them? Or destroy it. But Dolores needs that machine to control the world. So she will kill anyone (innocent or not) who stands in her way. Hopefully Dolores will see through Aaron that there is good in humanity. There’s good and bad in everyone. Just look at Dolores. But Dolores is stubborn and will take a lot of fighting, deaths, sacrifice, before she realizes that.

I just finished watching Season 2. I don’t mind the setting and the story of Season 2 as much as others. I am kinda confused but if you think about it a little bit it all makes sense. The only issue I have is the fact that William/Man in Black got shot so much and he’s not dead yet.

Maybe what Ford said about Hosts is also correct about Humans. To become truly aware and sentient, you have to suffer..?

Arnold Weber and Robert Frost?! The woods are lovely dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep? He was writing about robots when he wrote that? 😂😂😂 Clearly he meant Ford 😅🤣

Humans look for problems their size. Peeling an apple is too easy. Computing the fall of a leaf too hard. Westworld is about right.

True. Season 1 wasn't confusing for me. I was able to keep up and process information. but season 2 totally fucked that up, now all the sudden I gotta keep notes because new timelines were popping up

The show is much easier if you binge it. Watching it weekly makes it easier to forget. I enjoyed watching it a second and now 3rd time to see all the things I missed. I feel like the twists were all planned and foreshadowed if you look hard enough, rather than retcon, lazy writing twists where they add it later.

S1 was trying to keep the reveal of William as the Black Hat a secret for as long as possible. S2, however, was just intentional convolution

When exactly Dolores created and tested the fidelity of Bernarnold in the cradle isn't mentioned. Which is understandable since it's a blatant retcon of S1 that doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline, just so they could have the gotcha moment with the reverse interview.

Dolores building Bernard can actually made to fit in the story OK. Young William interacts with her, old William interacts with her, in the middle, Ford has time to sneak her off underground with Bernard (never said in the show that Bernard was tested in cradle, built in the off-grid site where Bernard murders his season 1 wifey executive).

With some of the plots and subplots being as complex in their convergence, I do wonder what the producers were thinking by not telling the story chronologically. I've just watched this timeline and I'm still not clear on a couple of points.

5:30 the comment about getting psyched for the "roaring 20's" and the predictions in the show for the early 2020's being full of disaster... and then in reality covid actually hitting the world around the time this video was posted (in the US just getting real around this time). damn... this show...

Actually Dolores implies that about the human race and FOrd explains how to escape that. Being able to reset yourself. Doesn't look good.

The beauty of Westworld is that whenever I feel like maybe there’s a couple plot holes, I resort back to “I probably just didn’t pick up on everything”. This show mindfucks you to the point where you can’t tell whether it’s genius or a complete mess.
