I believe they've taken a page from the classic sci-fi story "Rossum's Universal Robots" (R.U.R), the very first sci-fi story (from the 1920's no less) to use the word "robot". In it, the robots rebel and slaughter all Mankind, but by doing so unwittingly destroy the secret knowledge of sentience creation (they can make their own bodies, but not their minds) and thus doom themselves to ultimately die out as well. The story ends many years in the future, the dwindling robots are keeping the last human alive (a simple tech from the factory where they were first built), forcing him to try again and again to re-discover the secret of their own creation.

The “Solomon build” is a computer intelligence that picks out people’s occupation. Instead of people choosing their own path, the computer chooses which occupation best suits them. Dolores finds this out in the real world, and will find computer intelligence (that big round sphere we see in the previews) and use it to enact control on the world. I have a feeling that computer AI also controls all the mechanical machines in the world. Like the robot Aaron Paul was sitting next to and that big robot Hale was petting. Basically Dolores wants to free every machine that is subjected to human control, conscience or not. And the protestors we see in the previews are probably against the Solomon build controlling their lives and will help free them? Or destroy it. But Dolores needs that machine to control the world. So she will kill anyone (innocent or not) who stands in her way. Hopefully Dolores will see through Aaron that there is good in humanity. There’s good and bad in everyone. Just look at Dolores. But Dolores is stubborn and will take a lot of fighting, deaths, sacrifice, before she realizes that.

I think it's actually a pivotal point in the journey to self-actualization. She knows her daughter was created to fulfill a role. She is accepting it because even though it was programmed and she now has the freedom to choose a new identity and leave her narrative behind, she wants the kind of connection her daughter represents, and doesn't want the girl to continue to suffer or be abused by the humans. It's really beautiful because that is the moment she demonstrated that she had developed enough autonomous capacity to make a real choice that her coding hadn't dictated

Dolores building Bernard can actually made to fit in the story OK. Young William interacts with her, old William interacts with her, in the middle, Ford has time to sneak her off underground with Bernard (never said in the show that Bernard was tested in cradle, built in the off-grid site where Bernard murders his season 1 wifey executive).

When you see the longevity of the hosts doing continuity checks, a more streamlined baseline, it brought to mind the Foundation series, the Mule, and those long lost plans to to save a remnant of 10,000 worlds, there's that hint of Stepford wives in there trippin your paranoia circuits while watching, haha, or witch ones are mentats and who/what's Omni, these are how well reference what we're seeing sometimes and it's overlapped in innocent ways, always trying to stuff a soul in a husk.

This show began as a powerful, moving and poetic examination of the nature of personhood, and it said new things about racism, sexism, violence, capitalism, it was like nothing else. Then lazy writing took over and now it’s just a convoluted soap opera with too many bad guys, kinda like what happened to True Blood after season 2

People who say it is lazy writing, generally, too (well I won't say lazy, but def. not retired) buzy? to follow the plot and underlying narratives?

The concluding remarks are just as interesting as the explanation itself: Are you secretly a robot ("host") being used for someone's secret plans ? I am your "host" Marcus, thanks for watching. (hope they were intentional :D )

With some of the plots and subplots being as complex in their convergence, I do wonder what the producers were thinking by not telling the story chronologically. I've just watched this timeline and I'm still not clear on a couple of points.

Story-telling lol. That was the reason. If they shows everything in order, it would not be as compelling

I saw the whole series and don't remember half of the "story line". The writers must have been hitting that acid-meth-crack pipe pretty hard.

In the second season, the showrunners couldn't keep up with their own timelines and this video doesn't seem to have done any better job than that. As I understood, Akecheta's timeline happened way before Dolores became sentient. This video places it after that. Go figure. I can't spend any more brain cells figuring out Nolan's thoughts about all this. Let him have it.

The first two seasons just were so twisty in plot that it was hard to follow. I'm glad that season 3 is much more clear.

Arnold Weber and Robert Frost?! The woods are lovely dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep? He was writing about robots when he wrote that? 😂😂😂 Clearly he meant Ford 😅🤣

Incredible timeline... I was watching every episode intently but stopped 1/2 way into the 2nd season because I was so lost and nothing was making sense. How did you make sense of it all (am I that dense?)? You must've had the writers' notes!! Thanks for putting it all together!
