Nice video mate. Tent looks cracking. Quite similar looking to my Abisko Lite 2, but obviously fancier!

Thanks for watching matey. Yeh there very similar tents man just with a few different features here and there. One of my favourite tents the Nallo.

Great video as always Chris. Those Kuiu Storm Stars are Air Raid shelters mate. I was in my Nammatj last winter in fairly strong winds and although the Nammatj handled it well i got the usual flappery that you get with Hilly kerlon Sil nylon but my mate was in the Kuiu Storm Star and it didnt budge an inch., i mean barely a ripple in the fabric. They perform like expedition standard base camp tents that weigh a lot more. As impressive as they are i dont think i will get one simply because i find Hillys are heavy enough for my liking as far as what i am prepared to lug around especially for a one or 2 nighter and the wind noise never bothers me because i have got ringing in my ears so the wind cancels that out. The other reason that puts me off too is because you can compress the Nallo and the Nammatj much smaller and Tunnel tents can be pitched super quickly and personally in freezing cold wet , windy weather having the ability to get a tent pitched quickly and get inside is more of a priority than carrying around something heavier and more pack bulk. If you want to avoid the flappery and sensations that come with the Hilly inners then i dont think you could find a better tent than the Kuiu at that price point and that weight . As far as longevity goes i am have no idea about the Kuiu so again if i had to choose it would be the Hillys for that reason. Also if you are doing a hike that involves scrambles in gullys etc then personally i want to be light and fast ....Its always a choice of whats the right tool for the job really so when your Mrs says stuff like "You have already got a good tent" , tell her from me that you need at least 5 to cover all bases 😜

Wow thanks for that comment Plan. I completely agree with you around the weight of tents man. There sometimes has to be a limit and also we need to protect our knees and hips aswell get older so if we can keep the pack weight down then great. But yeh I don't think I'll get one anyways coz I just don't think I'll get the use out of it and I love the Nallo to much. Thanks for watching 👍

@iamchriswhelan your welcome Chris. If i was going on a trip where i needed a base camp such as an ice climbing trip in Scotland then i would prefer a KUIU but for what i do most of i have my boxes ticked . Very impressive tent though. I will give your mate a sub 👍

Great video Chris. Cracking set up with the Nallo2. I saw you mentioned in the comments to a previous video that you were swapping over to a Fujifilm X-T3. How are you finding it after using a Sony?
@iamchriswhelan4 күн бұрын
Aye man my favourite setup that Nallo man. After getting with those side winds of over 40mph I'm impressed. Yes mate I have moved over to Fuji now. I only use it for photos. I mainly got it for the film simulations that it does. I prefer it to Sony. Better out of camera colours, lighter, cheaper lenses and probs more reasons to like it.
@belowaveragewildcamper4 күн бұрын
@ aye, full frame cameras are probably overkill aren’t they. I bet the X-T3 still knocks out some class video in low light.
@iamchriswhelan4 күн бұрын
@belowaveragewildcamper Yeh it's probs does man and I agree full frame is overkill. I film on the DJI pocket 3 and the action 5 pro. Pocket 3 is class in low light man, better than my eyes haha
