Ive seen videos reconmended to me recently about painting and how apparently "you should stop doing washes". Watching this vid was some refreshing, painting is an organic process. Trial and error, using veruious painting techniques and reviewing your work. Its like a toolbox of sorts, great vid and its inspired some great food for thought.

Great video Lin.k Sensei. I always recommend your videos about hand-painting lacquers and this is a good example of a technique most would shy away from with lacquer paints. It’s a feature; not a bug.

Love the way you're talking about more traditional artistic techniques and even using this giant brush. Watching this and your poke through painting tips (giving the paint one or two touch, not overworking it) reminds me very much of watching James Gurney teach watercolor and gouache painting. Same concerns with gouache reactivating and he also talks about using the largest brush possible and then moving to smaller brushes and you start chasing smaller and smaller details, kind of chasing more "resolution" of the fine details.

Heya @Braille Scale, that is such high praise and a most flattering comparison. Thank you! Yes, very similar to watercolors and goauche indeed with the large brush, so happy this is coming across. ^^

I wish I would have discovered M.k. when this book first came out 😢. Ebay sellers want a arm and leg! But I'm glad I came across your channel. You are an awesome artist and a inspiration and I hope that one day I can be on your level with my modeling and painting, weathering skills. Thanks!

Perfect video! So helpful seeing how the pros work out problems on the fly and how taking risks is the path to mastery.

Absolutely on target my friend, this is how we improve but yes, not without some risks. ^^

I'm doubling back on some videos as I finish up chipping on my Raccoon and I'm already feeling giddy to practice more of these techniques here on the next kit!

Rock on @Stirgetti, I hope they help and I'm really enjoying your Raccoon. You've reached a new high with this one. ^^

Interesting weathing might need to try this normally I use a light shade of the color unpainted and dry brush it to have a color distortion or paint damage especially if there like thrusters near the kit

The texture of the blue has significantly more character than the straight airbrush finish. Great techniques.

This really inspired me to make a 'night sky' with moon and clouds paint scheme on a rapoon I've been working on. You can see a pic of it here. pasteboard.co/vMr0GYvidMoo.jpg

@@previous-seat7242 thanks, I still need to do more detailing weather it and stuff, but the base scheme came out pretty good I think.
