I do lot of traditional art, model building etc. I like to use "Nupastel" dry pastels for a variety of effects similar to this look and various scorch marks. The Grey scale pack works wonders. Also, Nupastel's seem to have a touch of oil or something that seems to make their dry pastels adhere a bit better! Hope that helps Linc! Keep these awesome vids coming! God Bless!

How do you paint those flexible hoses?

Normal paint is fine for then.... Just make sure they are washed and if you do have issues with the paint try Tamiya polycarbonate paints

4:16 niche, meanwhile 2/3 of youtubers use this exact technique on almost every kind of model.
@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright2 күн бұрын
@Jason Appreciate your perspective! While it may be a common technique, I aim to show how subtle variations and specific applications can really make it shine in different contexts. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@jasongotshadowbanned2 күн бұрын
2/3 do the exact same. With all due respect, you're not doing anything special. People have been using this exact technique for decades. The way you approach this is a bit disingenuous.
@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright2 күн бұрын
@jasongotshadowbanned Thanks for sharing your thoughts again. I agree this technique has been around for decades and is widely used-because it works so well! My goal is to present it in a way that resonates with my audience, combining proven methods with personal touches and explanations. I value honest feedback, but I’d also encourage you to look at the broader context of how I integrate this into the overall workflow.
@nigelsmith7366Күн бұрын

Who's having a bad day? I'm pointing out that this technique is used all over the world, for years and years. There's nothing niche about it.

That’s an interesting thought! While oils have some similarities, the way Tamiya Enamels dry to a powdery finish and can be re-wet even days later is pretty unique. Let me know if you experiment with oils-would love to hear how it compares!

Thank you so much, @mouca8548! I’m thrilled to hear you’re back at it and making great progress. The Vega and Altair are such cool projects, and going for contrast between them with a clean look on the Altair sounds like an awesome idea. It means a lot to hear that the content and the Discord community have helped you grow as a modeler-huge credit to you for putting in the effort and pushing yourself forward. Keep up the amazing work, and I can’t wait to see how both kits turn out! Cheers, Linc

I have a question about this before I start painting something. I want to repaint a small plastic mini figure because I’m not a fan of the colors it came with. If I use acrylic paint, will it change the way it feels to the touch?
@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright6 күн бұрын
Hey @Coastal_Indominus58, no worries, that’s a great question! Acrylic paint will definitely change the feel of your mini to some degree, especially if you’re applying multiple layers or using matte, satin, or glossy finishes. The surface might feel smoother, or even a bit textured depending on the paint and techniques you use. If the tactile feel is important, try thin, even coats and consider a light satin or matte clear coat at the end to lock in your work without making it overly thick or sticky. Good luck with your repaint-sounds like a fun project! Cheers, Linc

@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright10 күн бұрын
Hi @tokoloshgolem , Thanks so much for the kind words-glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 I’ve noticed some availability challenges with Gaianotes too, likely due to the ripple effects of the pandemic. The paints I used in this video were purchased before Covid, but I’ve since switched to using GSI Creos Mr. Color range more often. They’re easier to source, and I recommend giving them a try as a great alternative. Just swap in Mr. Color for the colors I used, and you’ll be good to go! Hope that helps-happy painting! Cheers, Linc
