I reccomend oiling the blade as well before putting the cling wrap, depending on weather can take longer for the leather to dry and result in some unwanted patina

I'm wet forming a sheath right now. I watched this video yesterday. After I set it out to dry, I wondered, what would happen if you used starch like they use for pressing or ironing shirts. Maybe spraying starch inside the sheath after soaking the sheath and then form it might make it form better. Just a thought. What do you think about it?
@outofeden_bushcraft314211 ай бұрын
Not sure . I know some rub bees wax into it while it's still wet and it firm's it up

If I knew how to do this I don't think I would have ever went to kydex.
@stonedape3285 Жыл бұрын
Kydex still has some benefits. I prefer leather cause it looks good, it feels good and they last for years if taken care of

You can also pop it in the oven on a low temperature and it will make it hard as a rock

Yes, that does help. Thank you very much. I have a lot of experience making kydex holsters using a foam press. Would that help mold the shape?

Do you add anything to the water?
@outofeden_bushcraft31422 жыл бұрын
I do not brother but I know some people when it's saturated massages melted beeswax into the leather and then forms it around the blade as I have done in this video and that makes it a little bit more rigid

Does the temperature of the water matter?
@outofeden_bushcraft31426 жыл бұрын
Jai Park No sir . I use cold water as I'm afraid hit or even warm would cause the leather to fade more .
