Simple...because they hate feeling cold. They are from the desert ofcourse, and being wet will cause the skin to drop in temperature fast, due to the vaporizing water on the foxe's fur and skin. 😉 The fox is moving and jumping a lot to generate heat - to rise it's body temperature.

My Sheltie Tasha (RIP) would rub herself back and forth along my couch to dry off after a bath like Djinn did along your wall. I draped towels along the couch to keep it dry and help her with the process. It brought back memories of her and establishes that lots of fur-babies share behaviors. Cute as always ☺️. Thing is it's not the fact of them getting wet that they don't like , for dogs anyways it's just baths that they hate. I use to have a few dogs growing up and they all do what Djinn just did besides the standing up part. Note to self before you give them a bath close all bedroom doors as they would go for the beds first messing up your sheets, then the couches or rugs. It's funny how they act and growl while they try to get dry! XD

I sat down to drink my coffee and watch the video....... I almost spit it all out!! Lol...🤣🤣.... Oh my gosh!!!!... This was HISTERICAL!! 😬🤣........first, his face under the light and the sound be is making complaining already, is priceless 😃😂.....then, the silly shaking dance in two paws ( shaking his front ones😬😬) made me roll in the floor!!....🤣 When he grabbed the blue ball I think I started having tears in my eyes from laughing so much.......😂🤣 HE IS THE CUTEST!!!!! 😍..... Djinn is not silly ! On the contrary, he invents - or try to - a way to dry his belly : with his front paws he wants to lift the textile from the floor. But the textile is too thick, too heavy; he can't grab it. Then he uses his front paws to ventilate his body but they are too gracile ... Such a graceful dancer !

Okay I just want to say, the editing at the beginning of this video was _spot on._ The cross-cutting (and the timing of said cross-cutting) was fantastic, the little bit at 0:15 where you lead-in Djinn's audio track just a bit was a subtle but brilliant move -- and the "subtitles" at wonky (and alternating!) angles did _so much_ to characterize Djinn right there. As fun as it has been to watch Djinn grow up, frankly it's been just as fun to watch you grow in your craft. EDIT: Oh, and did I mention that little pause at 0:09 before he jumps? It works so well here because it A) adds to the suspense (it feels like a lot more than one second), and B) allows you to pay off some of that suspense with a fantastic little comedic moment when he finally jumps at 0:10. There's this brief window where we totally know where this is going (we saw the title of the video when we clicked on it, and now there's a bottle of shampoo) but Djinn doesn't yet and you milk that dramatic irony for all it's worth. I'll be honest, if I were editing this myself I wouldn't have even thought to leave that pause in, I probably would have just rushed through the reaction shots -- but you didn't, you really took your time here, and that patient editing creates this wonderful contrast with the manic, short bursts of energy that characterize Djinn himself. It shows such a great attention to detail. I could literally just talk for pages about the first 24 seconds of this video, it's that good.

Me and my roommate are thinking of getting a fennec, we have time especially now because of covid, and we both love animals. Your description makes them seem like they’re a huge handful (which I can see for sure😂). But what are your thoughts? Should we? We have plenty of parks to walk as well

Well, will you be living there together for the upcoming 14 years? Are fennecs legally allowed where you live? Fennec foxes don't do well if you move houses or need to change owners. Do you mind if you will have fox piss in your bed, poop on your couch and chewed iPhone ear plugs? Do you have a fenced garden? Is there a spare room available that you can decorate for the fox for the times you can't supervise him? Will you stay at home once covid is over? A fennec needs a companion (= you), otherwise they'll get sad, lonely or aggressive. They are not a good pet if you both have a job away from home. I'm sorry, lots of questions 😅 If you have all these things (and more) sorted they will still be a handful, but manageable, and you'll have an amazing bond that other animals don't give you. If you don't have the time and space at the moment, you will get very unhappy with a fox in your home. I believe that every fox owner will say the same thing: the fox doesn't live with you, you live with the fox. And as an animal lover, that's perfectly fine 🥰 So, this is the general thought I can give you now, but if you have more specific questions, let me know!

@@daquanlamar4752 That's perfect! 😃😃 It's a day and night non-stop job until he has learned that he must use the litter box. I have tried to explain it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpWqiZ5jm9KgjK8 If you skip the lessons a couple of times, the fox will pee where ever it wants again 🤣 You'll need to be very consistent for quite some time and use lots of positive reinforcement. Djinn is now 2,5 years old and still using the litterbox (and if I see him doing that, I'll still praise him). Sadly, I've heard people saying that their fennec abruptly stopped using the litterbox around 6 years old 😢 Most foxes never learn, though, and poop comes flying out while playing and such, hahaha! 🤣 Foxes are lots of fun (and messy and stubborn)!

I’ve had dogs in the past and training them to wait to go outside can be a pain but it takes time, after your video I was just wondering about how different it is considering they’re completely different species! I guess my questions all come down to this: is it worth it? All the special attention and accommodations, do the “negative” times/things get overshadowed by the good? Like your fox obviously looks like an angel, before I get one I just want to be certain that although obviously not domesticated, are they still in general a good pet?

For example, if you lay on the couch some evening and you would really really like to pet your fox or have it laying on your lap, that just won't ever happen :( It could also be that you have had a bad day and just want a little bit of rest at home and then your fennec starts to dig at just everything: his litterbox, your couch and chairs or even just the floor. And you can't get mad at a fox or send it to his place like you could do with a dog. A fennec fox isn't comparable to a dog, not even to owning a wolfdog. I would say that they are more like a wild cat, because they are independent, easily scared, awake at night, and want to be petted at their own terms and conditions. It's an amazing bond that you'll build with a fox. Their love is something different. A fennec sleeps a lot, but the moments he is awake it's like having 3 toddlers who are non-stop trying to get themselves killed by eating something they shouldn't or destroying your expensive stuff or just running around screaming. I love to keep myself busy when Djinn is being a fox 😄 And it works, because he became calm, confident, social and easy-going. I think it's awesome that you are asking me questions about owning a fox. It sounds like you would be able to give one a good home too 😊
