It shouldn't be hitting the paint, my best guess is that the lid warped in transit or storage which shouldn't be the case. That should only happen if it's subjected to extreme heat (sitting in a box truck in a hot environment for extended periods of time maybe?). That said, contact us and we'll happily send you a replacement if it is effecting your paints. Thanks for the review!

After watching the video a second time, when you placed the Brush Insert, you did so by applying force to the center of the plate. That may be why you had so much paint on the bottom of it. In the future, I recommend just sealing by applying pressure from the outer edges. ;)
@jasonwalker75674 жыл бұрын
Thank you for getting back to me! I think you are right about it being warped from shipping. It seems to have flattened out because I am currently using it on a project and I have not had that issue again. I will update the video in the description.

I think I see what happened with the Army Painter Palette. If you watch from about 24:35, you'll see that you've pushed down on the middle of the divider, flexing it quite considerably. That's probably when the paint transferred to the back of it. Probably best to make sure to keep pressure to the edges of that one when sealing it to stop that from happening.

I had the same issue with the redgrass one on the larger wet palette. I emailed them they did get back to me. Until I showed them photos of the poor seal they them ignored all my emails afterwards. Shame really and I have now gone back to my sandwich box and will never deal with Redgrass again. Good to see that Army Painter got back to you. That's nice to see.

Give the Army Painter one a try. It seems that it may have just been warped and self corrected itself over time. I have not had the issue again. It is also reassuring to hear I was not the only one who did not hear back from RG.

I like the Redgrass palette too - was also in the Kickstarter and I have the same issue with the seal. I find myself having to add a little more water before each use. I haven't tried the Army Painter one yet. Pondering if the Redgrass sponge in the Army Painter case might be the best of all worlds.
@jasonwalker75674 жыл бұрын
I think Redgrass upgraded their sponges since the kickstarter, you may be right. I like the Army Painter one, but now after using it a lot, it has stained quite a bit. I have been able to find the refill packs pretty easy however.

Dude its nice to see an older painter on here. Ive been painting on and off for longer than most of the kids are old haha. I just moved to Austin and hoping to find some older painters or modelers to hang with. I dont mind the younger painters some are amazing painters but the music they listen to is sometimes annoying and they can be a bit hyper for my liking haha great video. the problem I have is that my paint gets runny after just one night. I wish there was a way to keep the paint consistency I use a lot of tube paints like golden, liquitex and scale 75 artists and they all get runny like Vallejo air paints. I keep the lid off at night or drill holes in the top but it keeps getting runny. Any help with that? I subed and gave a thumb's up bro Michael P.S. what was the blue thing you used to smooth out the paper?

I found that with the Redgrass pallete you can put the top on and it will let some air out, but if you push down on it , it wil be absolutely sealed. i think it's by design, a bit like Tupperware .

I think I am going to buy a new one and re-try it.

Wont a better test be to leave the lids open? Closing them will just wet the paints from water evaporation/condensation, hence your redgrass getting swamped. My army painter/masterson works while open for hours. Redgrass no.
@jasonwalker75674 жыл бұрын
I was worried that my Redgrass wasn't sealing properly so I wanted to test it closed against the others.
@CasuallyFunnyGuy2 жыл бұрын
I’m not overly concerned about it when I close it - as my biggest gripe with the army painter one is that it dries up quite fast, and I constantly add more water. Bearing in mind that I will usually paint for hours on end, so some water will evaporate.. I just ordered the Redgrass Studio V2 to compare, and hope it will leave the paints wetter with it open.. part of the issue may be a dry environment in my apt.

The masterson paper is not meant for miniature paints at all. I think its meant for tube paints so its too thick and fibers get into the paint..

Squeeze some of the water out of the sponge, and spritz it with water every now and again to keep it moist.

@@jasonwalker7567 I haven't had that problem fortunately, maybe they just had a bad batch of paper? I've also been told even when the Masterson paper is behaving properly it's not ideal for our acrylic miniature paints, but I personally never had that much of a problem with it. As Zach said, the instructions with the Masterston Sta-Wet palette say to soak it in hot water for 15 minutes. I have used the larger Masterson Sta-Wet Palette (the Premier) for over 15 years and love it. I have never had any issues with the paper..... zero paper fibers coming loose. So I don't know why that would happen.... Also, when you wet the sponge, do not wring it, but you should "squeeze" it gently so that it is not so wet. Just a gentle squeeze....

You had the middle lid on the Army painter palette on correct the first time. You got paint all over it because you pressed it when you were closing it up. I have had this palette for a year and that has never happened to me. Also, it seals even better when closed correctly.
