You made these graphs EXCITING. The cause and effect of the tyre choices wereren't just laid out, they were presented step by step and animated for maximum impact. I'd love to see all the qualifiers recorded like this. F1 is very data heavy and fans don't mind but when a ton of data is layed out all at once, it gets glossed over I'd imagine. This is broken down perfectly to make almost any fan say "oh. OH. OH SHIT."

Great Vid. It would be interesting to have a video on what separates the top teams from the lower/mid-field teams in terms of car performance. It was interesting during the race to see Riccardo blasting past other Renault engined cars with relative ease. We know generally what separates them, but I think you could do a really great job at looking more in depth at the difference between say Sauber-Haas-Ferarri, Williams-Force India-Mercedes, and McLaren, Renault, Red Bull. Someone suggested this on another channel but I would love to see your technical thoughts on this. Cheers!

Great vid, I love your explanation and your editing is superb. But I have a question: Why do only the top ten get points? Doesn't that make it less competitive for the bottom 10 because whether they overtake somebody or not, they won't get any points

Also at the end of a season teams/drivers positions (and therefore price money) with equal amounts of points are determined by best race finish (if still a draw then number of those finishes and so on). So there is always an incentive to overtake even in non scoring positions.
@jeroen3657
@jeroen3657 6 жыл бұрын
This is so you can't get points with the current shit Williams if other drivers get a dnf. They figured the point were points are a valid representation of you having performed as a driver/team is position nr 10. It used to be 6, I guess they turned it in to nr 10 for the very reason you mentioned. quick edit: I feel that finishing should reward you with 1 point. Since there are teams that dnf their driver in the last laps to avoid possible penalties next races.

Great video! A nice touch could have been to include how teams choose their setups i.e. due to parc fermé, do they run a wet setup for quali, but have that setup in a dry race or dry setup in wet quali to have the advantage in the dry race? If anything it would help on the F1 games! But good job - really interesting video. 👍

I was on rFactor the other day, and I decided to do a couple of laps around the old Indian Grand Prix Circuit. What I noticed was that in a lot of places, there’s a strip of grass about a car width wide surrounding the track, with the general asphalt run off beyond that. Why didn’t that take off as a good run off strategy? It punishes drivers for mistakes but still keeps them safe in the case of an accident

Is it really true that the full wets are slower on a dry track than on a wet track? I mean im relation to the other compounds this is true, but my question is about absolute terms. Same goes for Inters. They are made for wet tracks and are relativly speaking the fastest in their operating window, but no tire should get faster on a wet track than on a dry grippy one. Exept from extreme overheating which is a thing especially with the heavy wets, but we are talking one lap laptimes here, not stints. Therefore: Is this really the case? Thanks in advance. (Edit) You seem to make a distinction between wets and inters in this case, because im the last graph and all the others before hand inters get better with drying track, the only convex curve you use is for wets, which i find rather odd. [last graph at 6:56]In my oppinion they all should be convex, with the wets having the highest starting point and lowest level on the very right of the graph of course. So that they resemble some kind of e-function, but at the very least they should all be starting lower on the left than they end on the right.
@chainbear
@chainbear 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah they can be because the rubber overheats and loses grip super quickly
@decbaa2241
@decbaa2241 6 жыл бұрын
Chain Bear F1 Even in one single lap? Does this mean they are even softer than hypersofts and does this mean the Inters are a substantially harder compound then the wets? Or is the greatly reduced contact area responsible for this behaviour?
@dylancotton2061
@dylancotton2061 6 жыл бұрын
decbaa 22 Depends on the track. There are two types of wet and inters. Soft and base. This is basically to do with the nature of the track and how easy it is to warm up the tyre. But in general the wet and inters can be be softer then the dry tyres. But in addition the tred blocks in the tyres move to create heat. This movement combined with a dry track and soft tyres causes the rubber to melt and it's make up to change. It just ruins the tyre on a dry track.
