I don't know about this one. I'm hearing a lot of sounds I've heard before in other expansions. Is Native Instruments starting to recycle their sounds? Native Instruments maybe should have gave this one away for free as a Christmas gift. lol

Someone else mentioned that, and I heard a familiar sound too when making the video but couldn’t put my finger on it. Personally, all I care about when I use an expansion is “will this get me inspired”. For that I give this one a super high grade because it really got me fired up :) It’s all a subjective matter of taste though. I feel you. For me I was thinking it was kind of in the Aquarius Earth lane (one of my favorites) but all in all I liked it better. At one point in the video I think I said something like “I like it even better than Crate Cuts”. I meant to say “even more than Aquarius Earth”. I’ve always got Crate Cuts on the brain. 😂 Either way, thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! I’ve not spent a lot of time with the Basement expansion. This sounds cool. Of course it comes out right after I upgraded to 14 collectors edition. Maybe a perfect time to use that voucher. Many folks hate on NI for different reasons, spouting cheaper alternatives, complaining about the interface, or simply everything isn’t perfect. Really, which company is? I personally feel the Komplete ionosphere has something for any type of music maker, the sounds are great and there are sales, vouchers & freebies. What else could one want? That would be my critique too. It was also a lot of the same samples in a few too. For me, the only reason that wasn’t a huge knock for me was because those also happen to be my absolute favorite kind of drums. So I tried to admit my bias for that at least. Lol

Yo. I feel you. Music is subjective so one man’s lemonade is another man’s pee per. Lol. It’s definitely not claiming to be all 90s hip hop though. It’s just honoring 90s NYC Boom Bap, which I thought it represented pretty well. You’re right that it’s pretty similar though. I just love these kicks and snares so much. I use these sounds a lot in singer/songwriter productions. ❤️✌️
