Haven't put too much time on my Tao Tao, 2018/9, but it does get up and go. Had a similar issue with handle bars, we'll see if it continues. Good video & one of the few out there on this bike. I paid $900, delivered, easy set up and working to license it in CA. Thanks for the video.

@@JesseLColon It's been quite awhile since I registered it. But, I recall that I had to get some additional paperwork from TX, which they oddly didn't send with it originally. They were helpful and sent it along. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the information was. Seems it was something that defined the bike as an off road vehicle. It could only be ridden from Oct 1 to May. It enabled it to get a red sticker. I've checked my papers but handed everything over to the buyer last year. However, it was then easy to register in CA. Two years is enough time for the laws to change so do you homework. If no change you shouldn't have a problem with the paperwork. Don't know if this helps. Good luck.

I paid 550 for a second hand one the exact same size, 140 just like that but has a Logan motor, must be so old, runs so perfect only had to change some simple servicing stuff but still starts first or second time even when cold.

Would you recommend this for a starter bike? I'm kind of a starter but, not really I can ride but, it's only ever been a friends bike I haven't rode a lot since my dad died in 2013 when I was 8 and i'm 15 now. Back then I had plentiful of dirt bikes and fourwheelers but, when he passed they were stolen and my mom couldn't afford to buy me one till now.

for anyone wondering why i said 140cc, it had a 140cc engine swapped into the DB17 chassis. the bike hit over 60mph on a top speed run, the 125cc i tested before did about 48. also, for more info the guy i purchased it from at a swap meet sold me both a crashed DBX1 parts bike (where the engine in this bike came from) and this bike (swapped motor). they are the same size bikes, just different stock motors the 125cc in this bike a blew up in less than 2 hours lol.

I would have bought a Pitster Pro, Piranha, YCF, FORZA, or other higher quality brand of pit bike, but they are not sold in my country. I was thinking of buying the db27. It is bigger. So, I thought better suspension. But, I noticed too cheap to put a cross member on the handlebars. And doesn't seem as fast as the db17. I have seen a db17 move faster then the ssr.

BranT143 I recommend if your starting out to get the TaoTao db17, once you break it in you can get 55-60mph (I hope that’s enough power) and on Amazon you can get it now for $747 free shipping. That is my recommendation if your starting out.

Yes that's actually a really good height the top of the seat from the ground is 33 and a half inches off the ground

Was thinking the same thing. The DBX1 is the 140cc version and they actually have a 125cc version of the DBX1 called the DB27. The DB 17 is supposed to be a good solid value, and was the top of the line bike in a few years ago before they introduced the DBX1 and DB27.

@@maybeso1547 glad to hear. Someone on Chinariders just put a 17 on layaway. It seems to be their best value bike even when compared with the DBX1/DB27. I just wish Taotao would put out a streetable pitbike like Orion recently released. I know I could get one plated in AZ. I might just give in and order Orion's little dual-sport. Lights would be good no matter if you could plate a dirtbike or not for safety if you get caught out in the wilderness when it gets dark.

@@culcune There's the TaoTao TBR7, which is practically the same brother as the Hawk 250. I just bought the DB17, and I'm very impressed with the quality of it for $715 shipped on Amazon. It goes pretty fast too, but my main issue is that the carburetor needs to be adjusted, but thanks to the EPA, they locked the carburetor up, psh.

i would have to argue with you IMO the best pit bikes have the Honda name on them starting with their Monkey line and going to their Super Cubs ! they cost more but are time proven Quality designs i have a 1964 Honda 90 that was my Dads and it’s still going on the original motor and transmission it’s no speed Demon but it will get 100 MPG just cruising around

I highly doubt it can beat a crf150r those bikes are designed to be raced. You can’t get past 50 on those Chinese bikes unless you change the sprockets. Sure it may be faster then a Japanese bike but the reliability is not where near close. I’ve had my ttr 125 forever never had to change anything but the spark plug. The Chinese bikes are fun and all but you can’t compare them to Japanese bikes.

I wish I still had the bike, or took video of the 140cc motor that was in it. Stickers say DB17, but the motor was 100% a 140cc. I had all models of this brand with pitbikes, the 140 by far performed the best. The 125 did about 48mph, this bike did about 60, which I'll post the video of.

They are so shit. Yes the price is nice and you might enjoy it for a bit but 1st there power is un matched compared to the big four (honda so on). They break down easily and have very little people who have replacement parts. The re sell is soooooooo shit. You could buy one for 1 grand and it would be worth 200 bucks in a month. Please spend the extra money and get a good bike it will save you money in the long run.
