WFAA reacts to AT&T Stadium not getting the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final match

After years of speculation, we officially know where the 2026 World Cup Final will be held.
It won't be in North Texas. Instead, it'll be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
AT&T Stadium in Arlington will host a semi-final match, a round of 16 match, two round of 32 matches, and five group stage matches, bringing its total to nine matches -- the most of any site in the tournament.
The official announcement from FIFA came on Feb. 4, 2024, after the organization took several visits around the US, including site visits to Jerry World in August 2022, March 2023 and September 2023.

In all honesty, the only reason why the World Cup final would have been in Dallas is the stadium capacity…the transportation is not that good, the city has not that many attractions, it’s not that popular, and barely anyone uses CST…New York on the other hand, has a really good transportation with subways, commuter train lines, and airports( tho the only thing I’m scared of rn is the traffic), the city has tons of things to do and even NJ has ton of things to do, the city is famous world wide and is also iconic, and ppl actually use EST more…so I see why FIFA would choose NYC over Dallas any day….

Perfectly said. The lack of any descent mass transit system between ATT/Cowboys Stadium and Downtown Dallas is probably the only reason DFW lost out on getting the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

Guys- I think the real shock would have been it not being LA, nyc or Miami. Like imagine Kylian Mbappe partying at Texas Live post World Cup. It makes sense for it to be nyc or la. Still we got 9- which is crazy! But the final had to be NYC, La or Miami
