crazy discussion. manaea changed his whole delivery. sevy has pitched more innings than ever before, maybe he’s finally healthy. peterson is healthy after having surgery. megill has had 3 games of success since getting called back up and they’re saying he’s attacking batters different. quintana is playing to the back of his baseball card. all explainable, crazy to accuse “something else” going on here…

But it's mostly Stearns because why? He's DFAing pitchers left and right until it works. Hefner isn't DFAing players. What Stearns is doing is far more magnified than Hefner. Hefner was here last season and didn't have the success he is having this season. Sure you have pitchers this season who is listening as well, not Hall of Famers who knew what they were doing.

⁠​⁠@@cryptowesley5148 I don’t disagree but I believe it can be a multi facet of reasons. Maybe a conjunction of all three Sterns, Cohen and Hef. The pitchers have all praised Hef this year and I think he does a great job with the pitching staff. I don’t disagree like I said Sterns is cool I think he has a chunk of why they are succeeding and as a fan I’m just grateful for this team taking a turn for the good.

A few years ago Manaea all but admitted to being a bit lazy. Megill was flat out told that he should get serious about his career and to ask questions instead of just going out there and throwing the ball.

David Sterns and odds is the answer. Milwaukee was notorious for betting on the right guy each off-season. There were a ton of pitchers available and whatever algorithm Sterns and his team used quickly identified Sevi and Manea as good bets. Each always has #2 stuff and figured out their health/ arm action. David Peterson has only had a good half season, and it's probably because he's healthy and the league hasn't adjusted. Magill had a short run like this a couple of years ago when deGrom went down. It actually makes sense. Two short sample sizes and two good bets.

I don't hate the questioning. I think are reasonable explanation for some. Severino having a bounce back makes sense. He's always had the stuff, just needed to remain healthy. 2023 was a fluke year for Peterson, so this is more of a follow-up to the 2022 season for him than last season was. I can't speak to Manaea as I haven't followed his career much. Megill has the potential to be electric and has had flashes, but he can be up and down, so I don't know if I'd include him in this conversation given the sample size. Quintana has been known to show up in September and October and be solid as a rock. Plus... you have a dang good young catcher out there who may or may not be a generational talent behind the plate. I think the pieces are currently in place and clicking. Let's just hope they don't get out of sync any time soon.

Jeremy Heffner doing his job extraordinarily by getting all of his guys to excel. He's survived multiple regimes because he is the real deal and has had success over and over with little credit or recognition

Is not a difficult answer for that question,Jeremy hafner, how he make a difference,just tell me,in three different managerial,Jeremy still with the mets organization,why ? Because he is a pitching master mind,the difference this year,pitchers is attacking hitters,no more fooling around,he create confidence,new pitch thats can strike out batter,they are more aggressive ,sample ,Dejuan Walker, a master under Hafner,a mediocre pitcher now,mets rotation ,was a bunch of ex mediocre pitchers,now they carrying the mets to the play off,and them you can't left out David Stearn,who has a eagle vision,those two make the difference,for having a quality pitchers,like we have! Sorry. But that guy on the far right is a total a-hole. To assume "cheating" in the season where the umps have cracked down on sticky stuff more than ever, is asinine. Severino and Manaea have been aces before. Peterson is a 1st round draft pick with a new hip. Q has been a multiple all-star, too. They have all had a track record of success in prior seasons. Give the new POBO credit. New catchers, analytics, new arm angles and the pitching lab have helped, too. And no one can argue the theory of pitching your ass off in a contract year (Manaea, Sevvy and Q will all be free agents). It won't be the first time or the last time a player has over performed prior to hitting free agency.

This is why I can’t listen to this station anymore, this nonsense just to rile people up for views and listeners is so ridiculous. The reason Severino has pitched better is Hefner better pitching coach than Matt Blake and the Mets pitching program and pitching lab is far and above better than what the Yankees have.

Speaking not just as a lifelong Mets fan, but as a lifelong, rabid, knowledgeable fan of baseball as a whole, the commentary of the fat, bald guy in the black shirt is one of the worst takes/arguments I've ever heard from a sports broadcaster. Not only is his take an extremely cynical one, but it's also inane and lazy. Is it not his job to be an "analysts," provide deep insights, etc. Has he actually been following the Mets this season? Has he not been privy to all of the great storylines surrounding the club this year? The spark provided by the addition of Iglesias, Lindor's leadership, the emergence of Vientos, Peterson's consistency, OMG, Grimace, etc. And now, if you are actually a Mets fan, you can sense it, the entire team, not just the pitching staff, is starting to coalesce and get hot at the right time. In a season where this team was supposed to be "punting," and getting ready for 2025, the Mets are having a magical year. This is the most fun I've had watching a Mets team since the 2000 season, and no idiotic take from a guy who probably breaks a sweat whenever he closes the lid of his laptop will take that from me. This is why I don't watch WFAN. LGM!!
