That would be a great lineup Evan and would score 5 runs per game. But, the starting pitching would give up 7 runs per game. Murphy's law, can't count on reclamation projects all the time. The rotation is not regular season proven, let alone post season

Dude how many times have we had stud pitchers and fail to protect them because we score two or less runs, we were one hit by Padres, smoked in games 3, 4, and 6 bc of lack of production. But on the reverse hand look at 2000, look at 2006 when we were throwing guys like bobby Jones, and Perez, what saved us was we had offense firepower and length. Delgado, Beltran, Wright, Floyd, Lo Duca, Payton, etc. Our lineup is weak and we need to end that shit now by signing both Bregman and Pete and moving MV to DH and you ll see how our Offense will compensate for our pitchers as well. It complimentary. We can't have stud pitchers and a mediocre offense, that doesn't work either

I don’t understand why everyone thinks Pete shouldn’t get 5 or more years. He just turned 30. Walker is a few years older and secured 3 years. Alonso should get 6 years with a possible 7th year option to stay with the Mets. 25-26.5 million a year

We don't need Pete and Bregman, we need one of them and a good pitcher. I'll be fine if Walker Buehler is that pitcher. Also, looking at the profile of the guys Philly gave up for Luzardo, it appears that Caba is akin to Marco Vargas, who we got from the Fish in the David Robertson deal. Great glove, good bat-to-ball and OBP skills, no power. He may have more speed than Vargas, but Vargas is a little bigger. The OF Boyd stole 56 bases in 2023 and 27 last year, so maybe he could comp to Alex Ramirez, though the shine has come off him the last 2 years. Would I trade Vargas and Ramirez for Luzardo? Hell to the yes.

@@Aki-OB1 As a fan of the Mets, and as someone who generally agrees with Yankee fans regarding their distaste for Cashman, I believe that the Yankees' moves this offseason have been _very_ impressive. As of today, in my opinion, the Yankees are a significantly improved team as compared to last year, while the Mets are - so far - not as good as they were in 2024. But it's still relatively early. One question: Has Cashman intentionally brought in players this offseason exclusively from the National League by design, or is it mere coincidence? Curious for the opinion of a Yankee fan.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Bregman. Signing this dude on a 6 or 7 year deal would be a nightmare. His defense fits our needs. But he is nothing special at the plate. The two years were he was explosive. Were the years he cheated. No thanks Mets! Just sign Pete at that point

The numbers do not back that up. Bregman's numbers were not any different during the years that ALL OF BASEBALL was stealing signs illegally (read the Athletic article which broke the story, and made clear that everyone was doing it). Three different studies showed that the Astros were not helped, nor were other teams that have been proven to illegally steal signs. Bregman is more of a contact hitter than a power hitter. He is also clutch, and a top fielder. But he's not getting a seven year deal at age 30. Not happening.
