I'm from Indonesia but work remotely, and most of my coworkers are from the Philippines. I also am a nightshifter, so I can totally relate to your points (doing errands in the morning, start working in the evening haha). I visited the Philippines last year, and it amazed me how many similarities we have. Just like the Starbucks in the beginning of this video, it looks like it's exactly the same product that I can get from a convenience store 200m from my home in Indo. It's always nice to see other people living similarly to me. Wishing you health and success!

Weird to say this, but, I actually realized that dropping out of my comsci course in college was the best decision ever. I CAN'T SEE myself doing this for years... THE HORROR of looking at monitors and coding all day, all year... Thanks for showing me the miserable life that I have avoided hehe.

hellooo also from the philippines, 2nd yr na as cs sa college, may questions lng po ako hhehe: a. i learned cpp and java up until now pero hanggang high(?) beginner level lng, also got a java cert, no personal projects so far, want ko na tlga magstart pero idk where to start. ung java and cpp is the curriculum ng uni ko up until last term, pero this term wala na sila so i can focus namn sa iba, question kpo is what tech tools(languages) po ginagamit po usually sa soft eng? puro lng kasi terminal based pinapagawa sa uni so no idea pano gumawa ng real proj gamit sila.. b. ilan po personal projects nyo after graduation? mas maganda poba may web portfolio na may laman nung personal proj or di naman tinitingnan yun? c. any tips po for getting hired post grad?? hehehe like pastandoutan ba ng personal projects, internships, or grades? d. ano po ba tlga soft eng? building apps po ba sya or included na poba ung web dev dun or same same? HAHAHAH specializing po ako ng data sci bcs i heard na highest paying job HAHAHA pero now i think mas rewarding(personally) ung software development thankyouuu ng marami

wag mo bitawan yung higher languages pili ka lang doon isa tapos aralin mo yung road map nun kasi napaka broad ng isang language, tanung mo sa sarili mo kamusta ba ang logic deductive reasoning, and Data structure algorithm, fundamentals, problems solving at aralin mo rin ang branches ng mathematics especially Algebra,Trigo,Geo and linear graphs, dahil gamit na gamit yan sa computational ng system lalo't software at makakatulong din sa cognitive skills maging maingat ka sa aaralin mong languages oras ang masasayang kung mali ka ng pag pili I suggest iwasan mo aralin ang ibang languages na wala na sa market.. kung hindi game development ang career path mo iwas sa c++ kasi hindi indemand dito sa pilipinas maliban lang kung mag ibang bansa ka dun mas excel ang c++. aralin muna ng mas malalim ang fundamentals bago ka tumalon sa pag build ng projects, bestfriend natin si gpt lahat ng syntax na di mo gets sakanya mo ipa explain rely ka sa self study.....

a. i think depende kasi sa field na gusto mong itake. like for example sa case ko, nagfocus ako sa web application development kaya mostly javascript, typescript, mysql . pag devops naman i think dun na papasok ung mga command lines, scripts etc. so parang as a software engineer, may mga specialization or may main stack ka padin depende kung frontend , backend, fullstack. b. wala kong porffolio before and when I was interviewing candidates for a position within the company, mas chinecheck ko ung explanation nung applicant sa mga projects na ginawa nya kahit wala ung porfolio. so i think mas magfocus siguro sa knowledge kung pano nabuo kaysa sa portfolio. pero its a plus but hindi talaga un ang tinitignan. c. importante ng internship at personal project sa school, un ung credentials na mabibigay mo as fresh grad. pero ihighlight mo ung parang softskills mo dun sa internship at projects na un like leadership skill, proactive, problem solver etc. kasi mas tinitignan ng employer kung gaano kabilis makakapag adjust ung applicant sa company lalo na pag fresh graduate. :) d. i think halos same lang haha. my job title is software engineer and I use javascript and nakafocus sa web application development :)
