I loved listening to WFIL back in "74 while I was building stereos and homemade speakers in my basement at the time. When I got a project going my mom would bring me my food until the project was done. The boss jocks were the greatest.

At 2:30 there's a spot for Towne Volkswagen at 48th & Chestnut Sts. in Philadelphia. I currently own a 1966 VW Beetle that was purchased at that dealership in 1966 which I purchased from the original owner in 1986. He bought it brand new for $1800 and sold it to me 20 years later for $1500. The car had one driver and 32k original miles and was garage kept. All original chrome bumpers and trim including the Towne VW logo in chrome. I'm betting that old Beetle has increased a bit in value since 1986. Oh and it's still garage kept and registered Antique now. Once in a lifetime find!

my first weekend in Philly and seeing the Flyers was Nov 3, 1973 -my uncle Vic took me to see them at the Spectrum-it was a Sat night game and coming out were the 76ers from a day game and YES I met Dr J - Julius Erving and took a photo with him and what a gentleman ! honorable man who appreciated and respected his fans ! Was also able to get the incoming flyers autographs too including Schlutz and Clark, MacLeash etc wow what a childhood experience ! and the year they won the Stanley Cup, and the huge parade that shut down the city but nothing beat the Phillies game I attended on Aug 17, 1969 -the weekend as Woodstock ! vs Houston Astros in Connie Mack Stadium ! HISTORY and memories !

I did a little detective work, and judging by the Flyers game mentioned in the news segment and the fact that a spring training Phillies game took place that day, the exact date of this aircheck is likely March 10, 1974. It was indeed a Sunday late night/early Monday morning (March 11th).

@@TralfazConstruction all due respect, I'd go back in a minute. I had great times in the Marine Corps. But there was sad times also. During April and May 1975, the Marine Corps lost over 30 Marines were killed during the Evacuation of Saigon back in April 1975, then a month later in May 1975, we lost over 25 Marines during the Mayaguez Incident Recovery Operation happened on Koh Tang Island Cambodia. Again a sad time in the Marine Corps on Okinawa, I was there. Semper Fidelis from an old Marine Sergeant
