you know what would be great? when you make a move if you could show what kind of next 3 moves that move is part of. Rather than all this small talk of shoulda coulda woulda. Just use the mouse and show the combo ur setting up with each move. Why does no streamer actually do this? Make a move and then quickly show the play its a part of BEFORE u move onto the why nots and what ifs and if he/she does this/that.

love these collabs with your parents, its interesting to see how differently they approach decision making in chess. Your mom tends to take her time more in considering different options, whereas you are somewhat more impulsive. technical issue: both for your mom and for your dad, the mic tends to cut out at the start of their speaking (so we miss the start of their sentences). I wonder if there is a setting where the mic is not set to suppresss background noise or whatever is causing that.

I love hearing Pia's analysis about what makes moves better or worse. It is so cool how she describes so simply how the position allows for movement in the end games and things like that. For someone who is new to chess theory, it's hard for me to even know to look for that sort of thing.
@Timalick413 жыл бұрын
Hey Anna! Love the videos where you feature your mom. A quick suggestion would be to maybe let us hear out your mom's whole thought process on some of these movies. Pia is/was one of the greatest chess players in the world so it would be EXTREMELY helpful for all of us to hear her thoughts as she considers her candidate moves. Especially in this format where time isn't of the essence, it seems like she could have found some really clever ideas. Your personality meshes VERY well with your mom. She's soft spoken and reserved, you're energetic and fun, there's something really great about the chemistry. It just seems like sometimes you kind of rush her through certain thoughts or towards certain conclusions for the audience's benefit. We're watching your content because we love chess, so we're willing to sit through those line calculations for the chance to see how a strong grandmaster thinks! :)
@wilsonreissouza2 жыл бұрын
Anna understands youtube, a lot. It seems to me that she tried to keep the pacing of the video such that it would be entertaining to a larger audience. I also would´ve liked to listen more of the reasoning behind Pia´s moves, but i suppose the video would have a worse average viewing time, which hurts ad revenue and would waste the good CTR that the subject, title and thumbnail did conquer.

So impressive how you two just pick apart the position, move by move. I couldn't beat the Halloween Hikaru zombie bot (1800) let alone this one.
@billmorrigan3863 жыл бұрын
You almost got him. Well played in terms of anti-engine strategy! Very impressive anti-engine strategy! I'm not kidding at all. Just blitzed out 22. Qh5?? too fast, although 22. Qh3 must have been properly calculated too (as some other lines on previous moves). In speed chess things happen, and it's not really surprising to see missed opportunities in a rush. Hikaru's bot is 2750 only in blitz games. In a classical control, all bots are like 500 Elo points lower. You got a bit of bad luck here cause you tempted the engine with the pawn and engines are greedy that way and expose the king without any regard to strategy or danger levels. And "Hikaru bought it hook, line, and sinker :))) So you had Hikaru by 'the horns" and let him slip away. It was a good opportunity to totally polish off 'Hikaru :) Simulating bots are also very weak in end game. You can steer the game into ending, and then grind out the engine but you know all that better then me, I figure. I mean a normal engine like these bots, not regular engines, not even old ones. Regular engines are crazy strong and don't simulate weaknesses like Hikaru's bot does. It simulates imperfect play of Hikaru (or any GM FIDE Elo 2750) at blitz controls. And we all know that at blitz control, game quality takes a nosedive, like 500 Elo points vs the quality of a regular classical game. It won't be possible to beat a 2750 bot without learning all its behavior in blitz as it's really that strong (here 2750 FIDE Elo at blitz) while in a classical game it's more like 2250 Elo (this Hikaru's bot) or even less! Since you finished the game in 20 minutes, I would guess Hikaru's bot to be around 2500 FIDE Elo at this time control. It was basically a rapid time control similar to 15'+10". PS: I play vs engines all the time, and vs bots too (at various time controls and various levels). Even in classical FIDE time controls I played more than 200 games against engines. They teach meticulous calculation. Like Botvinnik used to say, calculate all variations three times to make sure you haven't missed any line. Not possible in one minute games, of course :)))
