As you said, it is hard work, yes safer, but results will vary, especially on windows that have not been cleaned in over a year. Had to leave my job and I have resulted back to traditional method on single storey homes avoiding ladders as I work on my own. Purely because I developed problems with my health and wrist. (not good to work with your arms above your head for extended times). The owner kept taking the most impossible houses to service(there are reasons why other window cleaning companies won't take on the job) and today I sit with problems and he sits with money in his pocket. This video being 3 years old and seen how much you grow is great. You have gone from strength to strength.

110% agree with you!! I was at a job yesterday where my shoulders were burning the whole time, I had to put the pole down many times and just breathe lol Its hard getting customers to understand wfp...i think we have even lost some due to it even with me educating them..some customers believe a squeegee is the only way but then the customers who have trusted us love it and always ask for it.

I am sure your right, water fed pole, is a harder version of window cleaning, while most peoples perceptions of it, they may assume, its an easier route. Personally i agree with you, that its the harder route your picked with water fed, as its like re inventing the wheel, ie you have to learn a totally new way to deal with how to deal with doing your job. Your right to make a vid like this, stating, how alot of peoples perceptions about such a thing is wrong, and how water fed pole cleaning, is harder overall, like you said, you need to be innovative, in finding ways to do a job, that was far easier the older traditional way.

Great vid. I went to WFP about 7 years ago. I agree it's not been easy. One major benefit is saving my knees. I suffer with brittle cartilage in both knees, so going up and down ladders was so painful. Loving WFP now. I still do trad on shops and properties with powdered aluminium frames. But has helped hugely. Now with my shoulder keeps popping out I'm heading towards a power reel. Window cleaning does wear your body out faster.

I do my own windows with my own gardener wfp. Nowhere near professional standard, but acceptable. I agree, it’s hard work and a killer on the arms. Have 11 i windows, 5 doors, a conservatory which has another 2 doors and a greenhouse to do. Quotes for someone else to do it were eye watering, so thought I’d try it myself. Also have a di vessel pure water setup for the rinse, which I also use as the last stage when i details my cars. I’ve go the basic 18 foot pole so it’s a bit heavier anyway. It’s great. Conservatory has some stubborn bird marks on the glass, so might have to get the kranzle jet wash out with the brush attachment which has a circular motion and tones down the power.

One Tip Ashley is when you scrub the windows and frames do a quick rinse on them let them drip down then carry on doing the bottom row windows before the top starts drying rinse them again on the glass only this insures you will not get any spotting do you same to the bottoms Etc works a treat

I recon you’ll use a lot less water as you get used to it more and the windows don’t have soap suds. The friends that use backpacks and Jerry cans can clean windows on so little water, it’s amazing. What would you say is harder physically. Ladders and squeegees or pole? My first year of water fed I bulked up so much. Well i've just done my 2nd day with wfp and i'm wrecked. My forearms & shoulders are getting a good workout. After weeks of explaining the pros to customers and that it may take a cpl of cleans to get rid of soap residue, i had a customer who i've had for 13yrs, always pays on time, i've done extra jobs for her to. Today she said i'm not happy, so i once again explained. She said but my windows are wet upon asking her to wait until they dry she replied " no i want them done properly like you have always done them" I asked her to give the WFP the benefit of doubt and to give it another opinion next clean and if still not happy then we'll have a chat about it. Should i stick to my guns and carry on with WFP as all domestic customers are being switched over from trad to wfp, or revert back to keep the custom? It's not a massive job but she's a regular once per fortnight.

Andrew Martin I was always doubtful about wfp until I actually took the plunge and completely switched. It’s hard at first, that whole thing of explaining it to everyone. It feels like a real battle sometimes, but don’t give up! Once you are 3-4 cleans in, you will really see the benefits. I’ve lost one or two jobs here and there but some of the work I’ve picked up has totally made up for it and more!😃👍🏼

Hard work, but faster safer better. Avoid using a ‘5 or 6 section pole’ on ground level. I did that too but the hands and fingers started to hurt every day. I now carry two poles on most jobs, also a short one that is lightweight for groundlevel windows only.

After cleaning traditionally for 27yrs, i'm getting my WFP system fitted 10 Dec. I've been explaing to all customers private/commercial about the change. I'm not looking forward to first few cleans tbh but once the customer see's the difference in the glass & frames i know they'll be happy. Also said there will be an increase and 90% of my customers are happy and even asked for more services. I recently bought that phantom trad pole you reviewed. Cracking pole. What's your views on isulating water tank or using an immersion heater for the winter months? Coz up geordieland it gets fooking freezing. Keep up the good work. Cheers Andy

Andrew Martin It takes a couple of cleans, not just to get the job just perfect but also dealing with the customers doubts and quibbles. It will be worth it in the end though! It’s my first winter with the van system. At the moment I’m just using an oil filled electric heater in there overnight.😃👍🏼

Traditional has its place ive been in this 18yrs and 14yrs of that waterfed and it does reach the parts externally that trad wont.....its not rocket science but as the same for trad and wfp there are rights and wrongs, ie dont let a lazy window cleaner use wfp as it would be a mess. Both great mediums in the right place 😁

@@aemackintosh I personally think less is more with WFP also. For example my ability to get good coverage with less flow and on/off switch with precision often avoids a host of overpsray issues and need to go crazy with frames. The right brush is paramount followed by a carbon fiber pole to cut down on weight and well worth any investment if you will be doing it day in and day out I always favor the natural boars hair as I I find it's just better than the synthetic at really getting to the entire surface of the glass and into corners. Also I'll upsell a customer on pressure washing a house and offer a discount on windows if they really want an extensive clean. But I'm in U.S. so it may be hard to compare. From what I've seen the competition is pretty intense among the row homes of some European cities.

Ashley, I have the upmost respect for you and love what you’re doing with your channel but WFP is walk in the park in comparison to the old days of ladders (did 93’ to 2005 on ladders and 2005 to present day WFP) WFP method really is money for old rope mate. I’ve never had any problems finding it harder work neither has my 75 old old Father. Never ever in 15yrs bought into the 3 cleans to achieve results nonsense either...if your water is 000PPM and you’re method is good then you shouldn’t have any issues on the 1st clean amber mind the 3rd. On every 1st clean we use a degreaser (G101) which is MEGA SOAPY and results first class even with all that extra soap. Shame you’re finding it a struggle as at the end of week one WFP back in 2005 we were laughing to ourselves saying “ this is a joke” our only worry was how quick we were getting through the work 🤣🤣🤣

Steve Matthews Yeah, I don’t want to sound too negative because it’s not like that at all. I am enjoying wfp and there are lots of reasons why it is better and quicker etc. But also, it has been a graft, almost like learning my trade again in a way, and I don’t want people to watch my channel and think that looks easy when sometimes there are problems that you need to overcome.😃👍🏼
