I'm sorry, but it's time some of the press developed some genuine ethics, rather than just paying lip service to them. These reporters ADMIT going (uninvited) to the houses of grieving people, who had JUST found out their loved ones (including young children) were killed - unexpectedly, and avoidably. The reporters were looking for a 'scoop' - footage of crying parents, talking about how devastated they were. They even talk like it's ultimately expected of the families to give interviews - but say the families are 'not quite ready yet', to speak. Like it's inevitable they WILL speak. I'm sorry, but that's a revolting thing to do. Doing you a 'favour', to get a 'scoop' for YOUR 'benefit' (not theirs) is one of the last things on their minds, I imagine. At most, ONE very polite, non-pressuring email should have been sent, which they could have got to in their own time. NOT turning up on their doorsteps, and interrupting their grief - hoping to get interviews then and there, to beat the 'competition'. The parents can probably barely stand or breathe at the moment. Yet these reporters thought they might come out, help the reporters get what the reporters wanted. Very offensive. I hope all the people who have lost loved ones, can eventually find as much peace as possible.

Yeah thats not how that works. There are helicopter specific flight paths along the river which is what this helicopter was flying on. The altitude restriction is 200ft or below, the helicopter was indicating 300 feet when the collision happened…if the helicopter was at the correct altitude we’d be talking about an very close near miss instead of a mid air collision.

It's air space. Airplanes/copters belong in the air. That's why they have atc, to assist with air traffic. It's not like there are stop signs and lanes up there. It's all guided and people have to communicate together. There must have been a miscommunication somewhere

I agree, because "training" means someone is inexperienced.....and No one wants to lose their life because someone needs to be trained. Also what I find interesting that no one is talking about is the Air Traffic Controllers are asking the Pilots are they clear and do they have clear sight of any other planes (im paraphrasing dont remember wor for word but this is what was said for sure). My point is we are in 2025, why is the Air Traffic Controllers working off old technology in which the Pilots have to tell them if they are clear? Shouldnt the Air Traffic Contollers tell the Pilots "Hey wait, another plane is coming on your left / right". I hate that this happened but I hope this makes D.C and other Airports start venturing into new Air Traffic Controller technology in which the tower tells the pilots where all the planes are and not the pilot telling the tower if they are clear to go. Recipe for disaster for sure....

Was it not ATC's job to make sure they had visual on BOTH nearby planes? Did you not hear the female voice saying, "Can you see THE plane?" falsely indicating only one was in visual range when the helicopter pilots obviously saw the one that had just taken off further in front of them? It would have been nice if the heli saw both planes, but if ATC only mentions one to watch and they confirmed they saw "it," then ATC is to blame for at least half the failure.

There is audio of Air Traffic Control having a female voice and only asking the helicopter "Do you see the plane?" when there were 2 planes within visual range (on video). ATC needed to clear this up correctly and failed to do so. The helicopter should have seen both planes and failed to do so.

No I didn’t realise, I used to figure skate as a child so it was a story that grabbed my attention living overseas especially bc 61 plane crash felt repeated so it’s a real dark time for figure skating but none of the news reports I have seen have mentioned this yet 😮😢 I thought part of the focus was bc there’s plenty of accessible media footage of the skaters for channels to run and skaters tend to skate through stress so everyone is available for interviews in rinks… but there would also be footage of this dear lady easily accessible to them… 😮 thank you for pointing that out 😢 may all the souls rest in peace 🕯️❤️‍🩹

The pilot was allegedly a Transwoman. So it was a man not a woman pilot. I saw pictures of him yesterday. Can't verify if it's true but if it is, as much as I hate all the morons screaming "DEI" this and that, one cannot deny that this person was likely hired based more on their identity than qualifications because that has been the standard procedure in fulfilling DEI initiatives for decades which is not the way it was intended to work. It was supposed to give QUALIFIED people from marginalized communities the opportunity to be hired. Most DEI hires are people with lower qualifications who are given "a chance" to move on up by inserting them in important jobs. The backlash against DEI has little to do with race. The DEI hires are not called incompetent due to their identity. They are called that due to employers using their identity to give them an edge over other applicants to fulfill quotas or to make their company appear to be in compliance. Not all DEI hires are unqualified and many are absolutely qualified. In those cases, if it's between a White man or a Black man, they will go for the Black man in order to boost his chances of success. That's discrimination against the White applicant. DEI is a mess that rightfully needs to be abolished.

For the helicopter to be flying in air space they did not belong in,was either purposeful or ignorance! He was probably made aware of the FAA's recent track record of wokeness and not hiring the most qualified people (who happened to be white males). Then, he heard the audio of a female voice from ATC only telling the helicopter about one plane in visual range when video shows 2 were in visual range. WE'RE pretty sick of your "real adults" who keep getting people killed. We're also sick of all the idiots pretending to be so smart when they say Trump is wrong when he is proven right, yet again.

Nobody who would have helped in this case. In fact, it may have been one of the people involved in rejecting the most qualified Air Traffic Controllers for positions because they were white. Did you guys ever find that nonexistent "pp tape?" Do you still believe the laptop was planted by the Russians? Do you ever get tired of spouting false narratives and making the wrong conclusions when there is evidence out there showing it?

I wonder how much DEI was involved in this. Air Traffic Control didn't make sure the helicopter was aware of both planes near it. The Army helicopter should have seen both planes.

Shame on Trump on blaming everyone else but himself... In fact this tragedy is a disaster waiting to happen as just 24 hours earlier, a similar situation occured when a passenger narrowly avoided crashing into another helicopter. Why didn't Trump then not act on that event? Was he and his team too busy repatriating illegal immigrants and building the wall?
