The problem I have with these generic Android tablets is that if and when the battery dies they are basically e-waste because you can't get a replacement battery

You can but the bigger question would be "is it worth it?". The cost of a battery this size would be better spent on getting a new device.

@RetroCore I suppose but then you just got the e-waste issue. There's something wrong with throwing out a perfectly good computer device just because the battery went bad. And the high cost of the battery is probably just because every one of these devices uses some weird proprietary type. Ideally there should be laws requiring standardization for just that reason

I don't think it's worth the asking price. Its just a very low spec tablet in a 'rugged' case.
