Hi Geoff, thanks very much for your most informative post which helped solve my slightly different problem. I share it here in case other Bailey owners have the same problem. The pump wouldn't prime and draw the water through when I recommissioned the motorhome after winter. I could hear what sounded like air being drawn through the pipes near the drain valve. Initially, I thought there was a leak in the joints near the drain which was causing air to enter the system. However, after watching your most helpful video, I removed the pump only to find that the clear plastic lid of the filter chamber was not fully tightened into position. I gave it a good clean and fully tightened it and refitted the pump and hey presto, everything is working fine. I did struggle to get the pump to fit back into the rubber bracket though. A useful tip was to take photos of the wiring and position of the pipes before dismantling. Thanks again.

A trick : watch series at Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

Aug24. Encountering the exact fault as this video. (2014 Bailey 740 Motorhome) which has been stood for two months. Taps/water worked fine over a 2 day period then quickly gave up the ghost. Preparing to strip out and try as you have. Video would have benefitted showing the strip out but fittings are a push fit so reckon it shouldn’t be too difficult. Good video 👍👍👍

Hi Geoff. Watched your blog with great interest, as I also have a Bailey 745 with the pump issue. I carried out the removal of the pump is the same way your described with the exception that I couldn't get the left hand screw out, so with a little teasing I managed to pop the feet off the cross head screws. Once I removed the pump I stripped it down and cheched the pump and micro switch were working, by getting power from the HM battery via a jump lead. Like yours, I found all be working as it should so after cleaning the filter I reconnected the water piped and MH power to the pump...... and it worked brilliantly, shutting off when it got to pressure. Now the bad news.. After statring and stopping it a few more times, the pump played up again - taps open no water!. So back to square one. Stripped the pump down again, only this time I stripped all the pump head down to its indervisual parts and checked each item. Them I found what I think is the fault. The pump bearing which has an offset centre core that connects to the 12 volt motor was US. Spining it by hand all seems ok, but keep spinning it and it jams up and catches. My guess is that somehow water had got in pass the oil seals on the pump side. If you put it to your ear you can hear it squeak and grind. Have ordered a new pump head, should be here Monday, so I'll iet you know the outcome. Jerry.

Hi Geoff, thanks for posting this, I have the same issue, pump just stopped working! Would be useful if you could just run through dismantling and removing the pump from the tank housing, i.e. the sequence. It's a bit of a tight space in there. You explained that the connecting pipes are just push fit back in, so they just pull out when removing? Thanks much appreciated, might save me a £120 for a new pump.

Fitted new head, except they sent me a 15mm joint coupling. No probs, used the old head shell as it was the bearing that was buggered. Still have an issue thought. Micro switch is sticking. if it doesn't work I rattle the pump as it works. Ordering a new one now.

Let me know how you get on, is it intermitant because of air in the system ? I was going to buy a new micro switch but after refitting it works faultless.

hi Geoff, I'm thinking of upgradeing the water pump to get better pressure in my touring caravan for the shower would you recommend this pump, just I have the standard whale submersed pump but it is really slow but use able I also changed the water heater from a 5L to a 14L tank

Hi. Did you change your pump? I'm in a similar situation with a Reich submersible. Basin and kitchen sink good, but shower a bit weak. I thought another way would be an extra small pump just on the shower line so for showering use the two pumps.

Still had the problem with the motor not always cutting in then the pressure dropped. Like you I thought it was the micro switch, but couldn't replace it as its glued in place (Sh---) I had the pump in and out and apart several times, but in the end I realised it must be the sealed motor. itself. Either the commutator or the brushes were worn? NO OOMPH when needed. Anyhow I decided not to replace it with another Whale, but instead fit a Shurflo. Although it has less bar pressure to that of the Whale, 20psi - rather than 30psi it works far far better, much smoother, and the shower water doesn't ossolate like the whale did. Had to alter the inflow pipe a tad and make a new fixing bracket for the pump which wasn't too bad. Used the wiring connection block off the old unit and now all good. One positive about the Shurflo is that its cheeper. £50 compared to the whale - £100 plus. As my Bailey is only a 2015 model you would think Whale pumps woud last longer than that, but I hear so many people say they are not as reliable as they use to be. I had a Shureflo in my 1997 Autohomes Wayfinder, and it was still going strong when I sold the HM last year. The plate I used for the pump bracket was material used for shop signs. thin 1.5 mm plastic sandwiched between 1mm ali plate.. This was then fixed to the water tank using the three fixing screws which attatched the old pumps rubber feet. Then it was a matter of fixing the new pump to that. Job done. Jerry
