The people who came back to the boat after swimming with the Whale shark said it was amazing, fantastic, it was the best experience of their life etc. Certainly it's a once in a lifetime experience when you get close to a giant animal, it is something extraordinary.

I met one of these monsters in the Red Sea. I was around 16-17m down and a shadow was above me... I didn't understand, since clouds in the sky don't occur at that time of year!!! I looked up and shrieked like a little girl when I saw a fish the size of a 14 wheeler!!! My dive buddy teased me in front of all the ladies, for the entire season!!! The other team we were with used me as 'status' since we had been so close to such an event. It was one of a dozen magnificent diving experiences, I will never forget!!!

Getting to go to Oslob in Cebu Philippines and swim with the Whale Sharks was an incredible experience. They just appear out of nowhere and sometimes slide right by you without you knowing it until it rubs you ever so slightly. They are beautiful and breathtaking. It is a chance of a lifetime to see them.

I love whale sharks. I hate people who kill sharks for their fins. Just look at that beautiful animal. It’s part of life, a quiet part of life. They don’t bother anyone. All they want to do is swim around with an I open mouth. Remoras and Pilot fish. The former are the little hitchhikers you're asking about. They eat the shark's leftovers and keep the water cleaner by doing so, get protection, and keep parasites off the shark. If you ever see little stripedy guys, those are the Pilots. They swim with but not ON the shark and do the same stuff.

They may be enormous but they're quite a beautiful animal, to see one of these behemoths in person is a dream, to see them at Georgia Aquarium while some may think it is controversial to see a gentle giant in a 6.3 million gallon tank I think they are a vital link to their wild relatives, there they can be studied in relative safety while we don't have to worry about things like ocean currents, true animal ambassadors and there we can help their species thrive throughout the world!

no fish tank will ever be big enough for a whale shark. they make sure to point out just how big the tank actually is but the whale sharks in it make it look no bigger than a regular swimming pool. you will never learn about an animal's natural behavior by studying them in captivity.

I know that tank is big… but I still wish it was DOUBLE the length and depth.. I just HATE seeing animals in captivity. They swim entire oceans and they are in this tank :/ I know they were saved from meat markets but why couldn’t they have just released it back. Ugh, idk.. I’m glad they saved it none the less.

sadly they can't release them. the georgia aquarium has animal rehabilitation programs that return animals to the wild, but the whale sharks there have permanent health complications. The tank is as big as they could make it, and is designed with the whale sharks in mind.
