Wow, what a fantastic experience! Thanks for sharing your adventures! According to Siri, a big group of sea otters is a raft.

You folks have hit on a wonderful combination , RV living in the desert for the winters, boating in BC for the summers. Excellent video series!

It's worked out really well :) Thanks!

Thank you for the video. Around 17 min, you know you’re in BC when you see a ferry, a float plane and sea otters all at once. I loved the shots from the interior of the boat while moving combined with the soundtrack, I felt like I was along for the journey.

Man, the size of those male orca fins😯😯😯 Also, your cam has great zoom - good quality at far distances. I'm taken back by how good it is after you fully zoom out, getting an idea of how far away you actually are!
@LoveYourRV3 ай бұрын
The fins are as tall as 6 feet in the big males. We were likely 300- 400 meters away. Hard to tell on the ocean. You're not allowed to get too close to them. My camcorder has a 20X optical zoom, similar to a 600MM fixed camera lens. It also has a multi-axis built-in mechanical gimbal and electronic stabilization. Very handy when recording on a rocking boat! :) Sony FDR-AX53 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJasq2Cjm9uei9k

Beautiful orca. Do you know who you are watching? I'm presuming Northern residents. And thinking how cool it would be if it was Simoom and crew

Sorry, not sure which whales they were. Seemed to have a least one young one with them that was playful.

Thanks Ray! Question: is there such a thing as an auto pilot for a boat that size. You would think having a self driving boat would be easier to design since boats travel much slower than automobiles.
@LoveYourRV3 ай бұрын
Yes, there is a Raymarine Autopilot system. Last year Anne broke the remote and its costly to buy even if you can still find the part, so I had to hack together a solution for her. Here is the video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpWsgHRmhL2Dgc0si=t0egsY_72ubu3TAT

Is it common for a black bear to have 3 cubs?
@Capt-John-T-Moore3 ай бұрын
I don’t think self diving boats could adjust quickly enough to account for set and drift since it can vary tremendously in just a few feet. Also the way a pilot can read the way water in shallow is smoother than in deeper water. I watch Anne piloting in a few videos and her placement of the boat in the narrows impressed me. I could tell she knew how to read the waters she was navigating. Great video as always!

Usually, I see them with one or two, not very often 3, especially fairly large ones. Looking it up for BC they can have 1 to 5, but I imagine many die quickly if she has a bunch of them. They were on one of the islands, so maybe being safer from predators and easy access to food has helped.

I don’t think self driving boats would be able to quickly account for set and drift as these are things that take time and experience to plan for and even then split second decisions are made because those conditions can change very quickly in just a few meters. I watch a few videos and her placement of the boat in the narrows impressed me. I could tell she knew how to read the waters she was navigating and how she setup her approach for safe passage. How to read the difference between shallow waters that appear smooth and in the deeper channels water is more active. Captain Anne and First Mate Ray! Great video as always!
