The moment the light turns red the intersection should be entirely empty. Many lights in America has very very long yellow and red lights, and people run it multiple seconds after, it's crazy. The mentality of "Knew he had time to make it" is so stupid. Jalon should have stopped like half a mile before. Like the black car in the right lane is probably just about the cutoff of where you should have stopped instead of kept going. I would 100% have blamed Jalon for that crash to be honest. I don't drive a Tesla but like watching these videos because the cameras catch all the details. I'm impressed with how sturdy they are, how they never seem to flip, and they keep the occupants safe. I've noticed that Teslas hydroplane during heavy rain and that they often times are totaled. I assume the parts are so expensive, so it doesn't take much to be considered totaled. I wonder why they hydroplane so often. Whenever it rains heavy where I live, there is this section where the interstate changes into three heavily trafficked interstates and there are always crashed right there in the rain. Last two times it rained, I witnessed a Tesla spin out and crash into another car and hit the Jersey wall at high speeds. I assumed he was driving too fast, but maybe he wasn't. The other time, I saw a Tesla that had just recently crashed right before I passed, but it hydroplaned and hit the same Jersey wall head on and no other cars were involved. These are just two random incidents out of many that happens there when it rains. I've seen cars of all types crashed there during rain. It's probably because there is a dip from one of the interstates where it goes up into an overpass. Water probably accumulates there causing these wrecks.
@ReasonX3 Жыл бұрын
I think the problem might in tires. I don't know what sort of tires are installed by default on Teslas, but hydroplaning means that wheels can't "dig out" all the water under them. Either the tire protector isn't good enough for rain conditions or people just drive too fast and aggressively.

@@checkdilevels1180 The written off part happens if the repair estimate is above some percentage of the price of a similar car (same brand, model, age). It take ages to repair every car because they have to get new body parts from the car manufacturers, Tesla may be a little slower than others, it took 3. Month waiting time for my car (none EV) to get fixed last time, it was just a fender bender. The repair costs are quite high for all cars, if it is damaged on both ends or one side they are almost always totaled. I wouldn't worry too much, it is the same for all cars.

@@laurakate84 Not going to call BS on your story because I don't know what parts you are waiting for, but my Chevy has been hit twice and repairs, with repaint took less than 2 weeks. Sorting out payment and paperwork with the insurance company took far longer than the repairs themselves. I also owned other brands, and I've never had to wait for parts for more than a few days. But I do hear Tesla owners constantly complaining about waiting months and months for even the simplest repairs. It's a constant given with Tesla and an outlier/rarity with other companies. Not to mention a repair estimate of over $20,000 for what looks like a destroyed rear bumper and some underlying bumper structure seems obscene. It's almost like they're designed to be disposable after even the smallest accident.
@laurakate842 жыл бұрын
@@ganymede3141 Have any of your repairs been within the last year and a half? Prior to mid 2020 I had the same kind of experience as you stated. Now there is a backlog of everything. Parts and vehicles. One part is the reservoir for wiper fluid and the others are cosmetic parts for the interior. Nothing vital thank God, but still. Much different from any other experience prior to 2020. A lot of cars of all makes are being totalled now for seemingly minor things. A big part of that is even salvage prices are through the roof. So insurance companies will pay less to call a car a complete loss and sell it for parts than to repair it. That is more true when you factor in potentially having to pay the inflated rental car rates for an extended amount of time. All cars are effected right now. But most people don’t really realise it unless they have the misfortune of having to deal with it first hand. All electric cars are literally built different than traditional ICE cars. So the same accident on the same part of the cars will result in different damage severities under what we can see. Insurance companies are hesitant to authorise repairing batteries for one things. So one potentially damaged cell will call for a whole new battery. That’s just one example. There are also far fewer body shops that meet the standard requirements for authorised repairs. So you have the compounded issue of few parts and fewer people who can repair them. The people who can repair them also charge more. And rightfully so because honestly it does require a whole different type of skill set than traditional body shops. Teslas weren’t on most people’s radar until the last few years. Just in time for all parts of the economy to go crazy. Including cars. So a “normal” experience hasn’t been possible for many of the people complaining.

A vehicle making a left turn must yield to all oncoming traffic. The law is CVC 21801 here. Other traffic must be stopped by lights or signals for the left turn maker to have right of way. Fun fact: because you can be greatly delayed waiting to make a left turn in a legal manner, UPS actually builds their delivery routes to avoid left turns. 10:11, he could of avoided this accident if he was paying attention but you can tell he was probably on his phone thinking he’s invincible because of his auto pilot. As soon as i see someone use their turn signal (especially from that far) i’ll slow down just in case, 2 what even was that reaction? Frantically turning the entire steering wheel is one of the causes for accidents, no need to yank it that hard, gotta stay calm in these situations

Yeah cause its always a great idea to slam the brakes or swerve going 70 in the rain

@@timothyberlinski2299 You don’t slam them, you ease into them or try switching lanes. Slamming brakes at that speed is again just a dumb reaction

@@Bruno0310 Ive done it before in a Tacoma going 65MPH (The speed limit). Some asshole driving a van decided to skip traffic and merged into the exit lane where I was WITHOUT CHECKING TRAFFIC. I slammed on my brakes and holded on to my steering wheel to avoid what happened at 10:11. Sometimes you have to slam the brakes. The key is to not let the steering wheel move at ALL. I could feel the steering wheel wanted to move but I held on to it for dear life. Was about a foot or 2 from rear ending him. Heard the tires screeching like hell.

The hondabump at 5:45 is unfair imo; maybe she could've slowed down a little but I honestly doubt there was anything she could do to completely avoid a collision safely.

6:45 Was the driver not paying attention because auto pilot was on? Normal driver sees something like that would move to the right. It seems the car just went straight on with auto pilot not detecting anything.

Agreed 100%. Clear indication from the HGV and probably room for Marcel to move into outside lane without causing an accident. Very poor anticipation from the Tesla driver

Yielding doesnt give u the right of why. The truck driver is at fault because he has to make sure that a lane switch is possible without hindering or endangering somebody, including to force someone to break because of it. As soon as someone has to brake because of a lane switch, it is an illegal lane switch, at least in germany or rather in the european union. BUT you are right with the fact that marcel could have avoided the accident with paying enough attention. But that doenst change the question on guilt.
@Scubasteve879382 жыл бұрын
@@darksoundzz you do have a good point.
@marcus55512 жыл бұрын
@@darksoundzz So with this point in mind, it’s down to a lack of due care and attention on behalf of both drivers. The HGV shouldn’t have pulled out until it was clear that there was ample space to do so, and Marcel was very late on anticipating the danger. Regardless of local laws, in the majority of situations, I’ve considered it as the person behind to be in the best position to ‘avoid’ the accident. They will generally have the best visibility, both front and behind, and either brake or manoeuvre to another lane. When I’m approaching a convoy of HGVs, I always try to move to the outside lane if the traffic permits, or reduce my speed a little if i can’t. I know it’s very easy in hindsight, but just that little extra caution and awareness could be the difference between a near miss or something far worse.
