I’m a woman. My mom didn’t teach me a lot of things; how tampons need to be put in, how to wash my body, or clean privates. I’d use actual body wash to clean my private parts and didn’t understand why they burned for example. Didn’t realize what I was doing wrong until I was 16/17 due to friends. A lot of these body cleaning issues stem from parents feeling shame in the nude body, so they don’t talk about body cleaning or sex. As we all know this leads to horrible issues

As for goldfish, one christmas our family found a goldfish in the snow in our garden. it was pretty beaten up and missing some skin and bits of its fins, it was still alive though. We had no idea how it could have got there, all we could think of was that a Heron had caught it in someones pond in their back garden and then dropped it accidently while flying over our garden. Anyway we managed to nurse it back to health and it lived for about 7 years after its rescue. Pretty cool fish.

Breaks my heart to hear about the little ones who feel no pain. It'd be hard enough to navigate the world as an adult without feeling pain but as a kid...that's crazy. Many people are probably saying they "wish" they felt no pain and I'll tell you as someone who has a few spots on my body that pain is either dulled or nulled...nope...you do NOT want that. You could easily get an infection from something as simple as stepping on a piece of glass and end up needing an amputation (if you don't croak from sepsis first). It's not as "fun" or as "good" as people would think. Thankfully, I can use mirrors to look at the bottom of my feet to make sure that I don't have any wounds and I check my toes nightly. You can get a serious infection within a few hours. I hope the little ones grow into adulthood and lead happy, joyful, and fulfulling lives.

She also can't feel when it's slippery and ended up falling and broke her achilles tendon while ripping off a small piece of bone, but to her she just fell hard and her ankle swelled up. . . . . .she has to go get x-rays or MRI's and she is a fall risk due to the nerve issues and the dizziness she has from the TBI. If she could feel her feet she wouldn't be going in for surgery and she wouldn't find glass in her feet or other small objects. It sucks!!! Hey, so my wife showed me this video since you discussed about cryogenics, and funny thing you brought up the Frozen Dead Guy--I pretty much work with him. Just think you should be updated that Bredo Morstol's body was relocated to the Stanley Hotel (aka The Shining hotel) in Estes Park, CO, and is under the care and watch of the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, all with Trygve Bauge's blessing (pronounced as Trig-vuh Boh-gey by the way). And they do tours discussing Bredo's story, his cryopreservation, and the science of cryonics. I'm a guide there, so pretty much I get to show off where he's stored. On top of that, Estes Park now hosts Frozen Dead Guy Days every March during St. Patrick's Day Weekend since Nederland got too small to handle such a largely growing festival. When I was older, that weird shit turned into drugs. Just openly on my bedroom floor or desk. My mom had a conversation with me semi recently while there was a jar of drugs right next to my feet and didn't even acknowledge it. That was AFTER I overdosed and almost died in her arms. I told her it was a drug overdose and she still believes it was too much alcohol (which is also bad btw but alcohol is very accepted here). I just wanna say I don't blame my parents for my issues, obviously they are my own failings, but I feel like maybe if they just tried to get me help when I still lived with them at age 16 or 17, I might not have ruined my health. I used to work with horses as a working student/exercise rider, barn hand, and groom at multiple barns, starting in high school and then over a gap year before uni to save up some money. Part of caring for male horses is cleaning their sheath of built up shmegma every 6-12 months to avoid injury and/or infection. Once I was in uni, the people on my floor in the dorms were hanging out and playing cards against humanity during the week before classes start. Someone played the card “shmegma”, explaining they didn’t know what it meant but thought it sounded funny, and everyone else said they had no idea either. I, a woman, quietly say, “I know…” fully straight faced and proceed to say the medical explanation of what it is and how most animals from horses, to dogs, and even humans get it. Almost every young man in that room apparently had never heard of this before and were shocked that some random horse girl they had essentially just met had to tell them. I don’t think I was looked at the same from that day onwards lol.

I'm late to the party, but I work as a cellular therapy technician. I freeze stem cells for later infusion (this is done to replace bone marrow in someone, using either their own cells or someone else's). First, you need to add something to the cell/plasma (or abumin) mix, like 5% DMSO. DMSO is a bit toxic, so the percentage has to be kept as low as possible, but still be effective. A stepdown liquid nitrogen freezer needs to be employed to take regrigerator cold product to -90°C in the span of about 30-45 minutes. It has to be fairly quick, but not too quick, so as not to damage the cells. Then, the product can be placed in liquid nitrogen freezer at -150°C or lower (ours are generally -195°F) until use. Our cells are held for up to five years, but are generally only considered good for a year. If someone wants to use them more than a year out, we have cryo vials of sample we've frozen alongside them by the same process that we will thaw and then check for stem cell line growth (it takes 2 weeks to do this) to determine viability. And the capsule they store the bodies in is called a dewar, pronounced DOO-wer. We use a much smaller, wheeled version that we charge up with liquid nitrogen when transporting the cells to a patient's bedside. We can also ship out cells to other facilities in them.

Mechanical engineering perspective on the ceiling fan one: Disregarding the duck tape applied directly to the junk, the main issue was that there were too many degrees of freedom for the whole assembly to move. What would’ve fixed it was if he had fed the rope through a hole in a fixed position above him, limiting the end to a simple up and down motion. Getting more flexible rope might’ve also helped, but duck taping it to himself was the main problem

The freezer and string leash thing also works with bees. I can remember my brothers house in my early teens, his stoner/tripper friends catching bees in freezerbags, freezing them, leashing them. At one point there was about 5 with leashes, and people taking turns "walking" them.

I am a woman with two daughters and one time my youngest threw her used menstrual items in her bedroom waste basket meant for papers instead of the bathroom one, which has a lid and is taken out weekly, and the smell when I walked into her room was. . . . . . . . .We had a talk about hygiene and there is no room spray that can cover that kind of smell and she had to dump her trash and clean out her room of any and all related matter when I caught a whiff and figured out why her room smelled. She only did this one time before I could smell it. This is not something to put off or do later. This is bodily fluids that are basically rancid and if I need nitrile gloves and triple trash bags then the job will be done. . . . .for the jar. . . . .advice is to do it outside and used multiple trash bag liners and throw entire thing away. Just throw it away and show the almost adult some other ways to find their groove that are hygienic and explain sexual hygiene. "Here is art and there are many ways to express whatever rocks your world bc it does likely rock someone else's world too. Here is what toys look like and they need to be washed after every use with the correct soap and your partner also appreciates when you are clean and hygienic. Do your thing, but do it cleanly and safely." - It could not have been there two years or the home would have smelled like DEATH, absolute DEATH!!!

Yeah is there something different about period blood than typical blood from wounds? Cause the few short times I've smelt real blood was never as stomach churning as period blood, is it cause it's expired? Also the advice is good and while I don't have kids I'm about to sound real ignorant the one thing I disagree with is I would never talk to my hypothetical kids about sex toys male or female. If they asked me I would logically explain practically what they are but imagining myself as a dad introducing his daughter to dildos just sounds straight up creepy, maybe it's better for the mother to do but definitely not dad lmfao

@@lightningmonky7674well well eventual daddy-o buckle up and take it from one who spent her puberty years with her single father. My poor dad did is absolute best but he was just as unequipped for the force of nature that is a girl heading straight into womanhood ready to take out anything (or anyone) who gets in her way as you sound right now so I’ll save you the future heartache and give you this piece of advice now, possibly years before you need it. When the time comes be educated because puberty is uncomfortable, often gross and very often far more painful for women than you can imagine. When it comes to hygiene, “toys” and essential items it’s really really easy for you, when the time is near and you’ll know because she’s moody and probably covered in pimples, purchase and keep on hand a selection of tampons and pads (typically from age 12), let her know you’re available for any questions and hopefully by then you’ll have demonstrated often enough that if you don’t know the answer you will find it out before passing it on so she knows she can trust you to give her the correct information. Toys, if she expresses curiosity then ask her and if she wants them hand over your credit card and the web address to some legit sites and give her a realistic budget because correct, outside of hygiene it’s none of your business. Oh and take her in to a shop that does fittings for her first bra. She doesn’t need to get that wrong because that brings lifelong physical injuries. Good luck! Your future daughter thanks you for making a random internet comment that attracted this unintended lecture late at night one early Australian spring.

"Expired" lol that's one way to put it! Yeah, it is beginning to decompose. If you leave regular blood out at room to body temperature, it'll start to smell like death too. Fun fact, period blood isn't just blood either, it also contains the uterine lining that is regrown and shed every month, so there's liquefied flesh in there too.

It is definitely possible to cool down a fly or other bug and put it on a leash, just in a refrigerator not a freezer. Leaving bugs in the fridge for a few hours will slow their metabolism to where they're completely stationary and limp and you would assume they're dead. Then they come around later as active as ever. I cool down insects like this so they don't jump all over my house when I feed my pet lizard, minus the leash part. But you could definitely do this. I don't think the flies would like it very much though.

The thing about cryo freezing is, your probably just better off getting a really detailed catalogue of your DNA, Brain tissues, and some sort of detailed MRI scan of your brain. Either way your going to come out of it with amnesia so might as well treat it as a rebirth type situation
@catpoke95573 ай бұрын
That won't be me though, just a clone of me. My consciousness will have permanently ended and something will be walking around thinking it was temporary. I know people often think it's no different but it really IS different, because imagine if you cloned yourself right now while you were still awake. You wouldn't consider that clone to be yourself, because it's two entirely different minds. Dying first doesn't change that it's a different mind and that you therefore will be totally unconscious even after it's created. I want to be resurrected so I can continue experiencing the world, not so that something similar to me can.
@carlpanzram70813 ай бұрын
Stupid take. We do not have the ability to record any significant detail of information stored In brain tissue. If you just freeze the brain, you have 100% of it. With DNA, you might be able to CLONE yourself at some point, but that is not the same as reanimating someone. It's not a difficult theoretic exercise. If I flash freeze you and then flash thaw you again, you are the same you.

I kinda botched the interview though and I think I'll always regret that but to be fair I had COVID and was absolutely miserable. Weird time in my life. She was interesting. And I wish I was able to speak to her more frankly, it was obvious that all her responses were coloured by her role as head of public relations. She's kinda just a figurehead in what was her own company but I don't think she minds, she's super passionate. I know nobody really cares but it was a really cool experience for me as a 16 year old who hadn't expected a response at all, let alone the opportunity to interview the co-founder.

You get more shit and piss stains on the inside of the toilet seats in guys restrooms. Men will at times miss the bowl and get piss on the floor. They do tend to use less toilet paper, and fewer paper towels however. So there's that.

The gamerleg thing looks like it could be gangrene caused by lack of circulation, from sitting down for so long. From what I have heard it is common in patients with diabetes because diabetes can cause lack of circulation in the limbs, most usually feet. But you don't have to have diabetes to have it happen, just lack of circulation which leads to necrosis. He could have not noticed injuring himself further due to the numbness. It is also common in heroin addicts that fall asleep sitting up a lot, they lose circulation in their legs and get the same symptoms. Because it's not diabetes, it can be reversed if caught early enough before necrosis/ infection gets too bad because you can fix the circulation issue with physical therapy, whereas with diabetes most times you can't. My toes have started going numb and I have yet to figure out which route I am going down.. I don't have diabetes as far as I know but my sugar intake is insanely high so I wouldn't be suprised if thats a factor..
