Hey Tharbamar! I’d like to say that you are, undoubtedly one of the very best audio reviewers in KZbin, congratulations! Your descrption about these great and gourgeous loudspeakers was precise, complete and objective; you do know how to transmit all the content and points that really count; besides that, you speak about other loudspeakers, show your system [very good!], and, LET US LISTEN great songs using two good microphones, that’s great! I wish you all the best and thank you so much for doing this excellent work! We, that really appreciate good music and know the benefits of this, will always be thankful to people like you, because your knowledge and experiences are very welcome! THANK YOU! I bought the Elysian 2 in Nov 2023. I’m very pleased with them. They replaced my B&W 803d. I find them less fatiguing on longer listening sessions . I would have returned them if they had the same narrow sweet spot as the Evo line of Wharfedale speakers. The Elysian 2 don’t have quite the low end output of the B&W 803d with there three 7” woofers but on 95% of the music they are fine. The Elysian4 would have Ben to much in my 14x16 room.Great tone and easy listening with great detail.

I just purchased the Elysian 4 and you are right. They can play anything really, really well. With my previous speakers I found myself listening to acoustic and jazz music because that is what they excelled in and not to rock music which often ended up being a gloopy mess. With the Elysian it does not matter what I play. They sound wonderful driven by my Allnic 300b tube amp and my Kinki EX M1. I am rediscovering my music collection. It's great. Wharfedale is on a roll in terms of sales and reviews but not because they still make great sounding speakers. Original UK Wharfedales are great, but now its nothing more than a brandname used by IAG to make money... cheap chinese built for the most part, IAG have the coffers to pay off reviewers to 5 star rate just about every product they are involved with.... Wharfedale, Audiolab, Quad, Luxman (at least still Japanese and decent). Let me tell you the Wharfedale Denton 85th has dreadful treble grain and id expect the same of the Linton which uses the same tweeter but it wont matter to most audiofool buyers because they arent aware the sound is bad, they just love the retro style with the low price and just give up on the sound. I recently tried a pair of Evo 4.1 and again theres just no life in the music which comes out smooth yet dull and with a midrange suckout effect and no body to the treble (a common flaw of Amt i find).

I have them positioned about 6 feet from the back wall,about 8 feet from where I sit and ever so slightly toed in to my main listening position. I’m not sure if the toe in is actually necessary because these speakers have a wide soundstage as they are but I’m single and can sit wherever I want to so toed in they are . I’ve had them for about 7 years and until I can afford something like these Elsysians they will be more than satisfying for me.

@@gryphongryph Yes, but just about every offering from Accuphase and *modern* Luxman (they had their dark times) is top shelf. Not so true with Denon. Their line is more in the class with Marantz. I am lucky enough to have heard these and the 4's. They are most definitely in the 'End Game' bracket. Sound quality is subjective and if you are looking for a speaker of similarly high levels of build quality, very similar sound quality, and having in my opinion, an even better representation of single-point source sound you should try the Tannoy XT 8F. They have now finished production but can still be bought new for under £2000 UK. I have owned the Tannoys for 18 months and have never experienced quality like that at the price point. Many Reviewers and also Kevin Deal from Upscale Audio in California have compared the Tannoys to speakers in the $10000 bracket when they cost $2700. The Tulip WaveGuide tweeter invented by Tannoy literally allows the speakers to disappear. In my opinion, it is even more effective than the Air Motion Transducer. I am not putting the Warfedales down in any way as being from the UK, I have always loved the brand, but at £5000 they only trump the Tannoys in ultimate build detail and esthetics.

@terrywho224 жыл бұрын
@@Tharbamar OK, fair enough, no tubes. The Plinius is a high current design, although I do not know how their amps compare to the output of the Denon PMA. I'm guessing given that since the Denon doubles power exactly going from 8Ω to 4Ω that its the high current champ in it's price range. Pass amps do that, and they are probably the best solid-state amps I have heard, but they cost more than the Denon. So your thinking is with low impedance speakers like the Wharfdales, you want an amp with sufficient current so that when you play loud you can accommodate any impedance dips? Makes good sense! Which amps did you compare the Denon to before you bought it?

Very robust. Really deep. They are seriously impressive in person.

I heard the pre-production model at last year's Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. They were the stars of the show in my opinion. And they had some serious low end. I want!

Don't have to. I heard the pre-production model at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. They were amazing.

I was considering trying the Linton Heritage, but I could stretch my budget to this speaker if I sell off a couple things. I want a speaker that doesn't make bad recordings unlistenable. I know it's almost silly to compare a 1500 dollar speaker to a 7500 dollar speaker but I was hoping you could shed some light on that aspect... i.e. is the Linton Heritage better for bad recordings?
