It’s not the big Guys making huge profits it’s the secondary market that makes the bottles so expensive. The little guys “liquor stores” are marking the hard to find bottles up 10X.

Greed. Corporate greed. I didn’t hear anything about the very top executives taking any kind of compensation relief. They’d rather kill a company than make a decent profit without wanting double digit gains year to year.

Tell that store owner to stop up charging over 200% on a bottle. He is complaining about sales when he is one of the thousands driving consumers away because of them over charging on bourbon.
@2011bluemanКүн бұрын
Time to improve quality and lower prices. Just look at how much that guy wanted for 1 oz pours of those bottles. My favorite bourbon was Old Forester 1920, but it's now a $62 bottle here in Virginia where liquor prices are state controlled. Both the distilleries and the retailers have been price gouging way too much and we's sick of it. Pretty much nothing in the buffalo trace lineup is worth what retailers and the secondary market are trying to charge for it.
@jmsparger433923 сағат бұрын
The market is being destroyed by liquor stores doubling and tripling the retail prices of the highly popular sought after products. The producers need to enforce retail pricing and the market will recover.

@@jasonmiller322 THis should also go towards the wine ins=dustry and restaraunt mark up of a glass of wine and bottles. A 12 dollar bottle of wine selling for $36 at the table, and a glass of the wine going for $8 to 12 dollars.

Most consider the Old Forester 1910 and 1920 bottles very good, however they are not cheap. Their cheaper bottle, the Old Forester 100, is just OK for me and many others, lots of other choices for about $23. I like the 100 proof Coopers' Craft made by Old Forester, but it is likely done now that their own barrel making is shutting down, also I have never seen it for the retail price of $30, just marked up to $35.

Like any hobby, your going to have people who get bored with it. A lot more competition as well. People are tired of paying 75 dollars for something that has a similar profile to a 40 dollar bottle. I mean a bottle of coopers craft or j bowman small batch blows some of my more expensive bottles out of the water.

Tariffs?! What are they paying tariffs on? Just what are they importing to make aged moonshine?
@2011blueman19 сағат бұрын
They're worried about retaliatory tariffs. When countries increase tariffs in their country the countries they are targeting generally retaliate with tariffs of their own and alcohol is frequently a first target. So if Trump puts tariffs on chinese imports, China is very likely going to increase tariffs on American alcohol producers since it's one of the few products America exports to China.
