Myra Alexandra You have to pay more then. You can't live alone by yourself and expect to pay less than you would if you had three roommates, lol. It's a trade off. Do you want to live by yourself and pay significantly more for that privilege? Or do you want to pay less and have roommates?
@bravedave904 жыл бұрын
@@Kevin-sm8pn living with a roommate is cool if your a recent collegegrad or transplant. But, as you get older and live in the city for awhile you'd want no roommates pandemic or not.
@Kevin-sm8pn4 жыл бұрын
Marlo Yes, most people would prefer living on their own, but living by themselves would be significantly more expensive. If you're on a tight budget, the only way to do it is living with roommates or living with family. You can't live by yourself if you're poor, and that's the bottom line.

I thought this was the dream when I moved here last year. But for $1,100 you can get a full 1Br in a place like Seattle and over the last year, dropping over 1000$ a month on literally a single bedroom is impossible to justify. Either way, it looks really nice if you’ve got 2 friends moving to the city to share it with, great area, too.

I'll say it again, 1100 does NOT buy you apartments like the one Cash is showing here, I have no idea where he found this one, it's the only one of it's kind, especially in a desirable, close to Manhattan neighborhood like Cobble Hill. At that rent, I’d do only one roommate and figure out another shared purpose for the third bedroom - the one with no closet. Doesn’t it seem like it was really a 2 bedroom and the landlord threw that wall up and divided the living room to make it a 3 bedroom. It’s a good size room. I’d lay it out as a living room. Do dining by the kitchen and then figure out what to do with the rest if that connected space. Desks, workout space, etc.

For $3,300 a month a bedroom with no closet is inexcusable. So, I'd call it a 2 bedroom and instead of $1,100 per month you pay $1,650 which is still a nice #. I'd make that quasi- bedroom a second livingroom. You could add a desk office/lounge. Both roomies could entertain at the same time. A narrow bookshelf of any height with open cubbies to allow light through would separate the kitchen from the livingroom. That alcove in the living room would hold a dinette and its not that far to carry your bowl of cereal or cup of coffee and gives you something to look at while you wake up. Nail salon a BIG plus. No laundromat took some of that happy away.

Having a bar downstairs could be problematic for the front bedroom, but otherwise second floor in a generally quiet neighborhood is a plus. No supermarkets close by, but you can patronize the local shops and Uber to Trader Joe's once a month for bulky stuff. Subway access to Manhattan is good. Do Brooklynites actually drink wine? I suppose the cooler works for beer, too. The smaller rear bedroom would be best for a single bed, and the other accommodates a queen easily. This unit would work for a family, and if they had just one child the front room could be an office or studio. (An artist would appreciate all the light.) The rent is higher than I expected for Brooklyn but still lower than you could expect in Manhattan for a comparable apartment.
