According a 2023 CNN article, Singapore tied with Zurich for the title of the most expensive city in the World. So we were surprised that we could easily get by on $100 for a family of 2. Nevertheless we had a lot of fun doing this challenging.❤ www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/11/30/travel/the-worlds-most-expensive-cities-to-live-in-for-2023/index.html

Singapore’s expensive if you’re to rent a home or purchase a house and to own a car. Singapore has super high house and car prices. Big stuff like these, but not its food or its public transport or such everyday stuff. Restaurants would be generally expensive in Singapore, so is alcohol and so is smoking, but if you just wanted to eat everyday food at the hawker centres, and to just use the public transport and grocery shop at the local markets, Singapore can be cheaper than a lot of European cities for such things. $100 a day is a lot for two people if you don’t factor in accommodation, ticket prices to tourist attractions and if you’re not thinking of eating fancy at a restaurant.

No way you can do what both of you did for 100 Singapore Dollars in Zurich.

Hey guys, if you wanna eat chilli crab, maybe you can try Jumbo Chilli Crab . the most famous chilli crab in Singapore and also black pepper crab Jumbo it's a bit way more expensive than those in hawker centre. Chilli crab in hawker centre normally won't taste so good,

Very nice video! Singapore is an awesome country. I really enjoyed seeing your food choices. I knew I sensed an accent from you both as well I’m checking in from the Caribbean 🇰🇾

you didnt try any michelin rated hawker stalls? You didnt try chicken rice? You didnt try katong laska? Roti Prata? Murtabak? Kaya toast? What you had isnt the top dishes that the country has to offer. Chilli crab from a hawker stall aint good. you have to do some googling on where to get at least a decent chilli crab that is less sweet and more spicy. Also eating out challenge should be lowered to 60 bucks a day. You can get meals for 5bucks for breakie, lunch and dinner at hawker centres. I feel that the chilli crab is not a budget friendly food which should be included in this video. Also most singaporean food is savory, salty and spicy which u neither had the chance to try. i find it frustrating when tourists eat food that is mediocre and havent done proper research on what to eat and most importantly where to eat it when you are here.

Great video Avrina and Simas! Wouldve liked you guys to splurge a bit but OK. 3 questions. 1. What is the strangest thing about Singapore? 2. What did you enjoy most about the country? 3. Why is it the most expensive place to travel? Where are we going next? Tease please, Thanks!!!

We gotta be reasonable 😅 hmm good questions... Strangest thing about Singapore was probably that we found a lot of food to be pretty sweet. As for what we liked the most about it, it was so safe, clean and calm everywhere. It's listed as the most expensive city in the world by CNN. So the prices there are New York-esque, definitely not for budget travelers. You may be able to figure out the next destination through some hints though 🙂

Wrong. Hawker stalls sells food for 5-6 bucks per dish. Espeically if you actually order the popular noodle/rice dishes that singapore is known for. A meal with a drink its gonna set you back 8 bucks. There is a challenge that you can get $3.50 meals where u travel further from the city into the suburbs. Do research and googling to find all ther michelin rated hawker stalls that will cost a mere 5-6 bucks too. Unless u are going for seafood/crab dishes, its going to be relatively cheap in hawkers. @@asan1050

I find durian is OK. The way I like it is battered and deep fried. I used to get it that way in Guangzhou.

Singapore is the most expensive city in Asia but not in the world . Hawker food $4 to $7, taxi fare about $1.10 for 1 minute journey , MRT train $1.50 to $2 for 30 minutes journey. Even at most normal restaurants and not MBS, a meal per person $15 to $20 . Go compare prices in New York, Australia , Norway, Paris , Iceland , Switzerland etc and most other western countries

If you do a quick Google search you will find that in 2022 Signapore and NYC tied for the most expensive city in the world In 2023 Singapore tied with Zurich for the same title. We actually do some reach before putting these videos together. @@ChangingLocationsDon’t just read articles and believe everything you read. The parameters used to label Singapore as most expensive are different from reality when basic necessities are considered. After trying all the food in your videos , you still consider food as expensive? Go to Switzerland and a simple meal can cost you 30 euros and not even a decent meal . Cheers
@Politologist Жыл бұрын
@@bensgoodeats1493 I've never been to Singapore but $100 is a lot to spend compared to where I live in Mexico. That's what I spend on two weeks of food for my family of three, and I'd probably still have some leftover money.

you should have watch other food vloggers on Malaysian Singapore cuisine.. you were eating the noodle wrong.. and as for your description of the Durian.. its a billion dollar industry.. you other like it or hate it.. but its not necessarily to insult local culture and taste buds of hundreds of million of people in that region.. as for that mansions in little India.. who told you its a Chinese mansion..
@ChangingLocations Жыл бұрын
How would you eat the noodle then? And we have watched other vloggers as well as read up on the food there so not sure what the problem is. As for that mansion, this is what the Singaporean government has to say: www.roots.gov.sg/places/places-landing/Places/landmarks/little-india-heritage-trail-serangoon-in-the-1900s/former-house-of-tan-teng-niah
