What 4 Handicap Golf HONESTLY Looks Like…

Have you ever wondered what real 4.6 handicap golf looks like? Hey I am Paul Jamison and I am chasing my goal of becoming a scratch golfer. I have a long way to go. While I work on cleaning up my short game and improving my overall golf mindset, the goal nowadays is to simply "Break 80". Today I am facing a tough challenge playing the beautiful Esplanade at Azario in Lakewood Ranch from the blue tees. I'm going to take you along for every shot showing my reactions and what I am thinking as I mentally try to reach my goal of breaking 80. On that second hole should you have taken a double penalty at the water? Seen as though you didn’t take a provisional and there looked to be no lateral sticks?

I took a one stroke penalty and dropped the ball on the line where it went into the water.

Now that you’ve played one of the nicer newer courses in the area, you should play the worst! Tara preserve only 15 min from Azario, and see what a 4 handicap shoots!

I heard it is nice and am supposed to play it Saturday. If you want a “Hidden Gem” play Rosedale . Although I don’t consider any of Sarasota Bradenton courses hidden… but then again I’ve been here for 40+years.

No shot your handicap is accurate but that’s ok still a decent golfer just maybe an off day

It was an off day but I did just get fitted for new clubs and they just arrived today so that should help get the handicap lower soon.

Not sure how it all really works, but handicap rating leans too much on your home course because that's where you play all the time and are comfortable with every tee shot and most 2nd shots.. Most other harder courses should be x2-4 to your handicap, with a running tally of 10-20 rounds.

Handicaps are for gambling. And if you know how to gamble, you've won before the first ball ever get hits if you set it up right

I did not. But I did just get fitted for some new clubs so once those arrive it should make a big difference.
