What? $50 Marine Battery That Lasts 10 Years!!

This video shows a 10 year old EverStart Marine Cranking Battery that is still going strong after 10 years of use. This battery is only $58 at your nearest Walmart.I have created this page to share information with the hopes of helping you become a better fisherman and catch more fish. I do this with the heart of a teacher in mind while trying to make it simple and fun for anyone!

@@TheFishingEducator personally I'd probably put solar on the boat so when you're fishing in stationary spot keeps it topped off depending on electronics on boat would determine amount of solar needed. I'm firm believer in keeping batteries above 70% charge .

Good batteries i have the Everstart 24XMS. I think I paid around $70 for mine but its the 1000ca/800cca maintenance free version and it just turned 5 years old. I use my boat alot and the battery still charges to 13.4 volts and still does great on a load test. The trick is to never let your battery/batteries get drained down real low and if they do make sure and hook em up to a charger to bring em back up asap. In the off season or if my boat is going to sit unused for any extended period of time I pull the battery out of the boat, bring it in the garage(make sure its not sitting directly on the concrete) and hook it up to a battery tender. From my experience the Everstarts are just as good if not better than a lot of the other flooded lead acid batteries out there and they are a fraction of the price.

I heard the one's made by johnson controls we're excellent batteries. I have a 24 ms ever start marine that has a early in the year 2017 date on it and after fishing hard from daylight to nearly dark sat it was struggling to fire up the big motor while still running two aerators and two graph's and dash lights we're accidentally on so that means the front navigation lights we're also on because I never remove the pole and occasionally the auto bilge because I don't put a plug in the cooler so the water will run into the belly of the boat and gets pumped out. Not to bad for a 5 year old battery and I fished nightime tournaments for the first three years of that batteries life so that includes nightime lights

I have teh same battery but mines from june 2015. I was looking for a video of someone who knows how to maintain a starter marine battery though and I have not yet found one. LOL I don't know if I am supposed to treat this battery as if it were a reg 12volt like for my truck or a deep cycle like my second battery that actually says deep cycle marine battery. do I just hook it up like my reg truck battery to the charger or do I have to trickle charge on 2 amps for days.

If you are using it as a starter battery, you should not need to do anything. I know I didn't over the 10 years I have had it. They should be maint. free.

I got one of those marine starting batterys,...same model as yours, and put it in my Chrysler Pacifica. Now 13 months it has trouble cranking up my car if I leave a door open for a half hour. JUST NOT WORTH a crap in my opinion. A marine battery is built more HD than a car battery, and this should not be.

Hello, I enjoy your videos and they are helpful. Thank you. I'm new to this and I just bought a Min Kota 30lbs thrust electric motor (Endura C2) according to Min Kota Website the best I could get is a Group 31 with 100ah. I am not a fisherman but a photographer. I need duration for traveling the river. Maybe a few hours worth at mid speed is the best I can hope for. The longer the better. I was looking at a LI31MDC Duracell Ultra BCI Group 31M 12V 650CCA Flooded Marine & RV Battery. I think it fits all the needs but I'm not sure. I called Duracell and not much help there. A lot of youtubers are recommending the Ever Start. Would you mind giving me your recommendation. I was thinking about spending 100 dollars on a batt. but I'm wondering it that was a pipe dream. I also can't find a battery box with a 50 amp fuse. That's what I need for my small min kota. I also bought the INTEX MARINER 3 which can hold up to 880 lbs. Just letting you know what I am using. Note it's not "maintenance free" unlike your other bad one that is. "Maintenance free" suggests higher calcium concentration ( especially the sealed/no vent flooded lead acid types ) which requires higher voltage charges to maintain near full capacity, If near full capacity is not maintained, sulfation starts and the battery will die young. Costco battery warranty policy is the best.

@@TheFishingEducator i just grabbed two this evening. Suck wallyworld doesnt have those massive tractor batteries. They were unstopable. Ive still got one in my 76 dodge pu. I tried one in my jet boat and it listed so i threw in another on the other side. I could run my system all day with 4 dv 15" subs with 8 amps in the system and never had a problem. I like to hear my music over the big block while im skiing. They were priced great at the time. They held up better than golf cart batteries id used for years. I think i paid 150 or 175 each for them 20 years ago.

My suggestion is delete one if the 2... i have never watched your videos before but for a first time watcher... its a contradiction and that for me just flushed your credibility down the drain...
