Intellectually, my wife and I knew of the trade-offs (square footage, house amenities etc) at a given price point in the various Triangle towns but this succinctly brings the point home! Thank you!

@@EllenPitts Well, we haven't yet. We had planned to move back to the Triangle area sometime over the past year but...it was the '21='22 madness! We put our search on hold this past April and only now are beginning to consider resuming our search -- now most likely in/around Greensboro/ Winston-Salem. For the Triangle proper, Clayton and Wendell remain on our maybe list.

I would prefer Apex because I like established areas (as long as the home is fairly updated). Apex is centrally located to downtown Raleigh as well as to Canes games.

i would need to move closer to greensboro nc, my mom and dad in law need support urgently , and she isnt doing well. i would also need to rent but, CARY i heard is so nice.

There are some nice little towns between the triangle and Greensboro…. You should check out Mebane, Hillsborough and Burlington!

I was curious to know your opinion of northeast Raleigh (pin 27616). The prices seem to be reasonable compared to other parts of triangle, easy access to i540 and less of a commute to RTP compared to Fuquay-Varina/ Holly Springs!

Prices in NE Raleigh are more reasonable because its less desirable (I'm sure the realtor can put it more politically correct).

I would look for an older home, more land, mature trees, single level./// Stairs chew up square footage of a home, and they get less desirable every month of livin. An 1800 sq ft single level home would feel bigger to me that a 2000 Sq ft 2 story home. Not to mention the bigger lots of older homes gives a larger feeling of space.

That’s true about stairs. Especially if you have multiple sets of them. I also like older homes with trees.

Yes exactly!! The new construction doesn’t appeal to me especially since I already have a multi level home. Would rather older ranch on some land

I've lived in Madison Wisconsin, Portland Oregon, and Kirkland Washington... And these houses seem a little pricey for what you get honestly, dated too 🤷‍♀️ Pretty areas though!!! 🥰

Yeah it is kind of pricey for what you get these days. Prices have really gone up significantly over the last 2 years though. Both here and in all those places you mentioned. Have you researched similar properties in those areas very recently? I would expect it would be a similar situation to here.

@@EllenPitts I've looked at the Portland market because we're contemplating moving there again, prices have come down and lots of pretty updated homes... Kirkland is still untouchable, and I haven't looked at Madison lately. Pretty sure we're going to move to North Carolina in the next couple months. Would you recommend Raleigh as the best place for a house hack? And the outlining areas for distressed homes to invest in?

Thank you for great video i have question i can get nice home in holly springs for 500 k $ in good location and 2300 Square feet Same as much like wake forest and clayton ?

That's a good question. In Clayton you will find a bigger and newer house for that price. Probably 0-5 years old and 2600-2700 square feet. In Holly Springs the home will be older, probably built in the early 2000's and 2300-2400 SF. Wake Forest will be somewhere in the middle of the two... newer than Holly Springs, but about the same square footage.
