My 95 Civic has quite a bit of play on the steering wheel while driving. At speed beyond 85, the wheel shakes. Car has recently replaced tries so it should be balanced. The rack was replaced 5 years ago with a reman. your thoughts on what I should check to find the culprit? thank you!

Good morning ☕️ Any update? It’s possible that you have a worn out tie rod however you may have a worn out sway bar as well. Is there any unfriendly clunking noises when you turn steering wheel while at low speeds or at a stop? If so…sway bar is the culprit.
@HiFiInsider Жыл бұрын
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders It doesn't make noise when turning or u-turn. When I do oil change in a couple of weeks I'll inspect the sway bar and inner tie rods as well. Thank you for helping me.

I get a clunking noise that I think is rack related would a worn inner tie rod make this noise? I think my outer tie rod is good. Also my steering wheel makes that knocking noise when i move it very slightly back and forth. Which everyone tells me is a bad rack. But does this mean the rack itself is bad or could it be the inner or outter tie rods?

Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community. Have you removed tire and inspected outer tie rod? Is there loose play or is it firm? Ours as you see in this video was completely worn out and not good. An outer tie rod can cause cluncking however the inner tie rod or rack is the more likely culprit. Thanks for watching, your parking break might be catching. Lubricating parking break might be the next best thing to do.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders can your parking break be catching even if the bream light is not showing on ?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders Жыл бұрын
@@TrueBeingRealization It can…however if you engage parking break, followed by releasing it…does the lever spring back quickly? If not, it’s kindly asking for lubrication or cable/brake shoe replacement.

Didn't even show a bad tie rod.. a free moving tie rod isn't bad it's when you can pull it in and out it means the gusher bearing is bad

Thanks for watching, you will want to replace it sooner rather that later since it’s already showing early signs of complete failure. It shouldn’t fall at all. 😎👍
