These older hymns just can’t be bettered. Such good tunes and meaningful words too. I was brought up with them and never tire of them, ever. Personally I feel that they are so much better than the contemporary type of worship used in so many places now, but also accept that there are many who will disagree with that. Thank you for making these videos available, they are greatly appreciated.

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, and I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace; when He takes me be the hand and leads me through the promised Land, what a day, glorious day that will be! The blood is being taken out of our churches, and as a result, folks by the millions are going to hell...where they will be for ALL ETERNITY! I love seeing the videos and hearing the music.. I am growing weary of church services that look more like a concert instead of worshipping The Lord..I really like the simple use of hymnals in worship.
@andrewlewis18933 жыл бұрын
Sing unto the Lord a new song, sing unto the Lord all the earth. Old songs are not wrong, but we are commanded to embrace new songs in scripture. Whether its done the way you grew up with or not, as long as the heart is worshipful and scripture is observed, we shouldn't allow ourselves to become hardened against what is new simply because it is new. Every old hymn you love was new at one point and had detractors. And any song that worships the Lord is a hymn according to scripture. Surely when we are told to sing "hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs" in scripture, it wasn't specifically referring to songs that would be written 1,700-1,900 years after. Psalm 150 makes it clear to use every instrument and voice you can find and praise the Lord with your absolute best. God is far less concerned with the musical style than we are. People all over the world can praise using the different instrumentation and musical style of their culture, and its all music to God's ears. Don't let your upbringing have to much sweigh on what you deem acceptable in worship, when God has told us plainly what is acceptable and what is not.

@@andrewlewis1893 I have to disagree with you. I came from a church that took away all of our hymn books, did away with the organ and piano. We walked in one Sunday and everything was gone. This so called young Minister of Music they brought in, who never asked our permission to change the music, told us we had to change because this new music style was what God wanted now. That is arrogance, in my opinion. Anyone who showed any signs of not liking this new style Rock and Roll Pop music was attacked verbally in the church. It was a way to shut people up in the church and make them afraid to say anything. The church body is not the preacher nor the song leader. We the church body have a right to the music we want. If they don't like it, then they are the ones who can leave. The church is not a dictatorship where a few run the show and everybody else sits there paying tithe money to support what they want. This is a big problem in a lot of churches today. Many church leaders act like our leaders in Washington DC. They want your money but don't you dare tell them your opinion on what you want or like. This is why so many churches are splitting apart and people are leaving. The new so called music doesn't feed them spiritually. What you wrote above sounds very close to the words that were used at my old church years ago. This stuff is being indoctrinated in seminary's all across this country. Wanting to worship God in the way I want to worship him is not wrong. Trying to force me to accept your new style of worship is wrong. If you want to worship in the new style fine, go start your own church. This is why we have different denominations out there. We choose to worship with those who want to worship God the same as us. There is nothing wrong with this. This style music touches my soul in a way the new hip music can't. The next time you go to a funeral play this new Hip Pop church music and see how everyone likes it. Do you know why they play old hymns like this at funerals? Because the old style hymn music brings peace and comfort to our souls. It tells us to hold on for the Lord will return and take us away from this world of sorrow and pain we live in. These so called new songs don't give us this hope and joy.

@@andrewlewis1893 My old church was broken apart due to the attitude of those who brought in the modern wow worship. I can't speak for every church that has this style of worship. I can only speak for the one I once attended for 30 years. We had a new minister who came in unelected by our church. The District Superintendent picked our minister for us. The denomination, I once belonged to, changed the rules where individual churches could no longer vote on a minister. This new minister got rid our song leader, who never was paid one dime. He volunteered 25 years leading the music and our choir, because he felt that it was what God wanted him to do. This new minister got rid of all people who volunteered at the church and replace them with outside people that were put on the payroll. It was a way for him to have control over them, now that they were being paid. The new young song Praise Leader, as they call them, got rid of everything we loved in music. The pulpit was even removed and a big electric keyboard was put there in it's place. He brought in spotlights to shine on all the new backup singers on the platform. The musical instruments and singers on the platform were so loud no one could hear themselves sing. I would have to sing into my hand so my ear could tell if I was singing on key. I saw many people who would ask the Praise Leader if we could sing an old hymn every once in awhile. They would be put down and told things like "You're trying to quench the spirit" or "That's not the music God wants today. Maybe you need to pray that God will change your life" or "Music has changed throughout the years in the church. Your style of music had its day, but it's time to move on" or "The newer young people don't want to hear that old outdated style anymore". This was a way to shut people up who did not conform to their ways. It also said, that what you like and want doesn't matter. Sometimes they would tell all of us to sit down and just listen to them sing. It wasn't long until the preaching changed too. The preaching went to self help seminar lessons with cute little video presentations. The church fell apart in less than 2 years and is now forever gone. We were a 500 member strong church, when all of this started. We fell to 200 members before the doors were closed and everybody walked away. This has left a bad taste in my mouth, when it comes to this so called new style worship. Every time I hear praise worship music, it brings back terrible memories. I hate to say this, but I have heard similar stories from others in different churches too. So, this appears to be a much larger problem than just my old church of years ago. My biggest issue is that the Praise Worship over emphasizes the musical instruments and those with microphones on the platform. Music in the church should be more about hearing the congregational voices. When we come together to sing praises to God the instruments should be in the background and are voices should be out in front. We also don't need 5 people singing into microphones overpowering the congregational voices. When you do things like this it takes the focus off of everybody there and places it on those up on the platform. This is why many see it as a pop rock concert and not coming together to lift our voices together as a church family. The old hymn style singing placed more emphasis on the voices of the congregation. This is what many people are missing in church today. If you want to preform in singing, then go start a band outside of church. But don't turn the church into your performance stage, like it's a TV Star Search Performance Talent Show or your friends Garage Band.

@@georgelineberryjr3673 When we think our own preferences (old songs, new songs, certain instrumentations, etc) are the only way to worship God, we violate scripture and have a bad attitude and that's wrong. Its not the new songs that are bad, it may be that someone has a bad attitude, but don't discount modern worship music if it praises Jesus. Refer to my first message .

I did not know what the lyrics "No more parting over there" meant until about 2 years ago. It means no more of our loved ones going and us being left behind. Late one night at 11:00 after I went to bed, the Holy Spirit helped me figure that out and I teared up, because I have loved ones in heaven I miss so dearly. But we do not grieve like others who have no hope Paul said.
