These shows are very important for the agricultural industry, showing how great British farming is and the welfare of livestock. Even though it’s a busy time of the year for farmers they still go out of their way to show everyone their greatness and we should all remember this and support British agriculture and buy local produce. I can 100% guarantee that buying local beef for example is better for the environment than purchasing the likes of avocados from South America.

Its a credit to these farmers showing their well mannered animals to the public, it shows the man on the street how they care for their animals. We all know that they will eventually be served on peoples tables, well done to one and all.

Pigs can easily be kept outdoors Tom. Up here in NE Scotland about 90% of the pigherds are outdoors, as long as they have a hut for shelter they'll be grand.

My Dad was a breeder of Pedigree Guernseys and sold many champions to the USA and UK. He had a saying about the perfect cow. Once you breed the perfect cow just have it stuffed and find a new challenge to pursue.

Got some Valais for sale if you want some Tom. We first started breeding them just after our good friends who are also Alpaca famers like ourselves. Stuart Billinghurst and Emma Collison from the Valais Blacknose sheep UK were the first people to import these charming sheep to the UK, in 2014. This unique and increasingly rare breed has taken the world by storm and are considered the ‘world’s cutest sheep. (Trust me , just because they are cute does not mean they never miss an opportunity to try and knock you over) 🐑🐑🐑

Great show Your not wrong about the limousine cattle we had a bunch of x bred steers we turned out one spring and as the lorry driver let them out he said you do realise these have a habit of breaking out sure enough they raced down the other end of the field straight through the barbed wire fence and kept going We got the last one back 3 days later from a farm miles away

Hogs will tear the ground up very badly. Dig holes and dig under fences. Best to keep the indoors in a pen if you don’t want the ground all torn up. They like to eat roots. They will root up every inch of grass.

I got to lead a limousine steer weigh in at 720kg named larry at the Royal Adelaide show he was an amazing animal led like a stubborn puppy chill but you knew when he wanted a quick break 😅 best experience Ive ever had. Also had a couple spastics like the black Angus we had Hunter. A Murray grey we had lep in the air once practically did half a back flip almost booted the chick leading him in the face and another one (limo) went for run and swung someone into the gate. Fun times 😂

I remember from years ago in Gloucestershire that any cow with old Gloucester forebears would have the white line down the back like the Lady showing the linebacker said. The white line was called 'finching' and other old breeds shared it, for example Longhorn, Irish moiled, and several others. It is a very dominant gene a bit like the Hereford's white face and can persist or re-appear even after several generations of out crossing. Watching the shearing prompts me to ask ; do they have Dorper Sheep in UK and if they do, do they shed their wool in the cooler climate?
