WHAT A GEM! Seal Shore Campsite - SOLO FEMALE in a CAMPER VAN on Isle of ARRAN (Pt.5)
Following on from last week's video - • EPIC OVERNIGHT spot on...
The morning after the lovely sunset and another peaceful night, I finally dragged myself away from Machrie Bay and headed South to explore Blackwaterfoot on my way to Seal Shore Campsite in Kildonan which was to be my next base for a night.
My drive takes me past the King's Cave which I hadn't wanted to visit myself but I stopped off to show the car park where people can overnight, and show the walk and a little legend re. the cave. After that, I head to Blackwaterfoot, buy lunch (a BLT), stock up on a couple of essentials, show the village's community maintained CDP for campervanners and motorhomers, and spend a few mindful moments with a couple of swans!
On driving further along the coast I pass a church for sale for redevelopment and wish I was skilled enough to take it on! The views were amazing. The sun came out as I drove and finally arrived at Seal Bay Campsite right on a stretch of beach at Kildonan. Pitch views were impressive out towards Aisla Craig and Pladda Lighthouse. I felt very contented 🙂.
I make toasties for tea in the ridge monkey and catch up with Getaway Geese KZbin Channel - / @getawaygeese
before turning in for the night.
The wind got up overnight and I could sense a real change in the weather was on its way. I decided to book another night, this time without electric and pitched right at the shore front. Amazing location.
Next time, it'll be my second to last full day on the island - a very blustery one, but sunny. I finished and uploaded my Pt1 vlog post on this day (always YouTubing!) and later enjoyed the delights of the beach at the site, beer by the van, and just a great chill out in the sun before the rains came the following day.

Hi, I’m Sue from Lancashire, UK.
This channel is just me getting out and about in a converted VW Campervan, occasionally with friends but mostly solo. Fun, laughs, moans, groans, mistakes, and successes. It’ll all be in here!
I’ll share new places, hints, tips, any info I discover and whatever else I think you might find useful.
I began vlogging my solo travels in ‘Vanya’, to help me re-engage with life following the sudden, tragic loss of my husband nearly 3 years ago now. Working through a very complex grief has been the hardest & loneliest challenge imaginable. Some days it still knocks me completely sideways and probably always will. I really don't know. All I do know is that life can change forever and irreversibly in an instant.
By returning to the vanlife we had enjoyed so much together & embracing a new found love of video creation and vlogging, I’m continuing to build strength and balance to move forward through this completely unforeseen and unwanted next chapter of life.
Thanks for joining me. The company is nice.
Sue x

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear of the losses of your parents so suddenly. I wish you strength on your healing journey. This quote is true isn’t it. I’ve been forging a path through my own grief for 4 and a half years now and only recently reached a point of a growing peace and acceptance. I’ve learnt to live with the loss, no more fighting it. Acceptance is key & letting go, however much we don’t want to. Hope you find your strength too. Take care 🙏🏻

It's been lovely to see Arran again Sue , you present it so beautifully and even better to see Seal Shore Bay again , one of our favourite campsites and we're looking forward to the next instalment . On you map you can see Carradale , it's on the long and winding road that Paul McCartney sings about . You get across on the ferry from Lochranza there's a lovely site there looking back across to Arran and short drive to Campbelltown, we really enjoyed it. Best wishes Helen and Martin

Think it will be whipped up now your video is live! Love the music, captures your adventurous spirit perfectly! That is an incredible view upon pitching up! Love the way you cook toasties! Wonderful again Sue. Grief hits you at unexpected moments and that’s such a beautiful quote. Interesting about the site and the pop top noise. And the fact that the bed board cut it completely. Arran seems a wonderful place - loved the view of Ailsa Craig from that side - we had a more distant view from Troon a few weeks back. Read that about the ferries - luckily ours to Hunters Quay still had an engine! Great as always and looking forward to the next instalment. Dave & Sue

You had me laughing in this one a lot. I love watching your travels because you’re showing me places I’ll never see. On the subject of grief. I recall the valleys and less valleys and some flatland. Not too many peaks. No longer true. Now its all peaks and no valleys. The key? I gave it all to God and he walked me out of grief and into pure joy! I pray that for you a as well. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh that’s great to hear Sarah because sound is the most challenging part of editing videos in my experience. I’ve looked at the Jackerys and similar but with such limited space and for more wild camp freedom I’ve come to the conclusion that lithium leisure batteries are more than likely the answer for me. So upgrading the AGM leisure battery I have at the moment. I was looking at solar panels but am leaning more now to lithium leisure battery. As with everything though, they don’t come cheap.

Another great video. Totally understand about the dodgy knee as I have 2 of them so limits my walking now a bit. Of for the days of youth when climbing hills, and descending werent a real pain 😉. We only got our pop-top a couple of months ago and have the same noisy zip fasteners so looking for a solution. 💕

@@CamperVanya yes it's my favourite spot also, I spend more time here than at all the other places. The nights are so quiet with very few passing cars, just the occasional birdsong or sheep bleating. I will be staying here many more days over the next month. Have fun.
