CAMPERVAN TOO BIG FOR ARRAN FERRY?

Had to pause straight after Merlin's check-in. UNBELIEVABLE. That lady either inexperienced or was her 1st day as clearly clueless to campervan dimensions. What a FAFF. Hope she is there when we arrive as we have a storage box on a bike rack lol

We love Arran, such a wonderful wee island. We’ve been travelling on the inter island ferries for 40+ years and never had nor seen a Van measured! What a jobsworth that woman was 🙄 Love your little dogs, our 2 are so good travelling on ferries as well bless them. Enjoying the vlogs, thanks for sharing.

I've never known a campervan be measured and Graham looked quite annoyed by it, and understandably so. We found the ferry crossing there really easy, although we had to wait for the levels to be raised so we could get off from what I remember, but the staff on there were lovely. You just mentioned us Ellie lol. It may have been that ferry we got on. Definitely the same layout. We got a different one back and it wasn't anywhere near as nice. That's where we parked up and it was busy but nice. Handy with the Co-op though. Gorgeous double rainbow. We did that walk and then got tipsy at the Botanicals place lol. Look forward to the next one.

We were a bit stunned to get measured. They must get a lot of people trying it on. Yes we thought of you on that ferry. Looked similar didn’t it? We also thought of you at the gin place 🤣. There is a saying here in Scotland, "if you don't like our weather just wait 5 minutes"🤣🌈☀️🌧. Looks like you were on the big ferry, there is a smaller one too! I have never seen anyone's vehicle being measured, I bet she really wanted to charge you that extra amount! Really looking forward to the next video. 😊

Yeah I think that was what she wanted. In fact David from Leisure bit had told me he was measured as well. That is exactly why I removed my bike rack in advance. Otherwise I would have been charged extra I think. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️🙏❤️x

Haha I think I’ll avoid that park up haha 😂 Great video, perhaps the young lady was in training or something or having an appraisal 🤷‍♀️ Never took our van on the ferry, so don’t know if it’s usual procedure or just randomly selected vehicles. I guess they have to keep safety in mind. Also if the ferry was fully booked, I suppose they have to ensure everyone booked on can fit on it. I wonder if they just randomly check these days, I wouldn’t take offence as I’m sure it was nothing to do with you personally 😎 Although I understand if you felt your integrity was being questioned. 😊 The girls seemed to enjoy the ferry! It did seem strange her measuring Merlin🤣. He is definitely less than 6 Mtrs. You may be right that the lady was training. Some fellow you tubers have had vans measured, but the majority haven’t. She probably thought Graham looked shifty 😉. Take care Em 🧙‍♀️xx

Nobody got sick so that was good. Funny you should mention rainbows. We did think about a “how many rainbows?” were in the video competition but we had difficulty ourselves counting them. Sone were hard to spot and many people view vlogs on a phone do they would miss them. So we didn’t do that. Kinda still wish we had. Maybe the “ 5.99mtrs” stirred her curiosity. I was asked if ours was under 7 mtrs when we went to Orkney . Yes I said , “6.95 “ , she smiled and said “yeah right “ . When sometime later I measured with cycles on rack it was actually 7.4mtrs . Without rack it was as per book 6.95. Loved Arran so looking forward to the next chapter! Thank you.

Thanks Roger. Ellie chose the music. I had to speed up most of the video clips. Against the music they looked a bit pedestrian. Worked ok in the end I thought. The early morning light helped. We put a lot of thought into it so it’s pleasing when somebody notices. 🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️🙏

Looks like a great walk from your stop over (all be it the racket from the saw mill wasn’t great 😀) we got measured going from Skye to the mainland and they checked twice - if I had the towbar then and the towball was attached they would have charged us extra (have you seen the cost difference) - think it’s quite normal for them to check. It’s great they allow dogs with you isn’t it. Such a shame about the weather, you’re right the weather is very changeable but this adds to the magic of the island. I’m hoping to go back (probably next year) to walk up Goat Fell as on my to-do list. All the best, David & Rachel 👍

It was only thanks to your comments that I took the bike rack off. So thanks for that. Another beer I owe you. We are looking to go back towards end of February. Arrans lovely for walking esp Glen sannox area then up to Goatfell. Weve had our van measured a few times now and our tow bar literally takes over the 6.2 limit. But theyve always let us off the extra 2 inches so far.

That’s interesting Shaun. I assumed they would automatically surcharge you which is why I took my bike rack off before we went. I was surprised they carried on measuring when they could clearly see no tow bar or rack. Maybe she just wanted to touch Merlin. Maybe she went home to her family and said guess who I met today. Maybe she is secretly a Wizard in the Wild wannabe. Maybe that was her boss there. 🤣. We are going again end of Feb so we can see what happens then. 🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️🙏

Good video but I have mixed feelings about the young female employee of the ferry company. She appears perfectly professional, polite and maybe under some form of supervision by the male who is with her. It’s a shame so much emphasis and negativity has been generated by filming someone doing their job. I can only imagine the amount of nasty drivers she must meet who haven’t told the truth about their booking size. Glad the rest of the sailing went without further incident.

Yeah I see your point. But all I would say is the vehicle was booked under 6mtr. She asked me and I told her. If that’s not going to be believed then why ask? It did make me feel that she didn’t believe me. That’s not good customer service.

Had to laugh at the tape measure, I have seen them measuring motorhomes before because people say they are a certain size and forget about tow bars or bike racks that can push them into the next price bracket. Do you have a bike rack or tow bar? You did both sound very indignant. 😂 you both need sleep 💤

I do have a bike rack Cheryl but I took it off before we left home. David from Leisure bit had warned me they can measure if you have a tow bar or cycle rack. I got lucky. I normally leave it on. Thanks for taking time out to comment 🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️🙏 xx

Is there a huge price difference in 5.99 and over? With a towbar we’re already over 5.99 then…. I’d imagine they have a few chancers and you pair look like criminals with the company you keep…. We already know G cheats at games so…… I’m saying nothing 😉❤️

Excuse me! You are mixing me up with my brother. Not sure what was happening there. They did the same to David Walker. But I also heard that people who were just over with day a tow bar were not charged anymore so unsure why it is so important. Lucky I took the bike rack off after David warned me. 🐶🐶🚐🧙‍♂️🙏
