I live in/grew up in Seattle Washington. In the late 70s, a local movie theater showed the Robin Williams film "Popeye" as a double-feature with Galaxy Express 999 and everyone I knew (including me) got dumped at the theater to see both films and we were all, I think, somewhat traumatized by 999...we'd never seen anything like it! I sat right up today when I saw that manhole cover (I am in my 50s now).

"I heard there is a good restaurant here. Where is it Fuku? Closed. Fuku!!'. Yep, that would be my remark as well. The grilled curry actually seems 'broiled'; an overhead broiler to cook the cheese crust onto the bowl. This is vaguely similar to French onion soup.

Also…. Sweet potato tempura is my favorite tempura. Second place goes to zucchini tempura. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen zucchini tempura offered in a food video from Japan. Do you make/eat zucchini tempura in Japan? If not, you should try it. It’s so lovely. I actually love any tempura made with squash/gourds…like yellow squash, pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash. When you coat them in batter and deep fry them it just brings out their natural sweetness.

I watch a lot of Japanese travel vloggers. Most show puny meals and eat like a bird. Makes this American feel like a pig because of the serving sizes offered here.. Lol. You actually show hearty meals and eat very well, and a lot of the time it would actually be to much for me to finish.. Before your channel, always figured if I visited Japan, I would leave a restaurant still hungry. You changed that concept. Thanks! 😉
