Maverick, Brianna Williams is one of my favourite people. I love so many things about her and really hope and pray that she can find back her form. The problem with us as fans is that people like UB. Bri was in Trinidad a lot during the early part of her career. She was working at a level two or three years ahead of her age band as a 15/16 year old. She was one of the most disciplined, committed athletes I've seen - at any age. A lot of her early success was easily due to her technique. She understood starts > drive phase > transitions better than nearly every teenager in her era. Khalifa St Fort was her senior; her bestie and her mentor. And everyday she had that iron to sharpen her in training. But....as is true for nearly all athletes: age-banded success and early blooming of "talent" all levels out as a senior elite. There are no scrubs in Team Jamaica's top 10 sprinters. I would never speculate that Bri has reacher her speed limit. She is not even running at her own lofty PBs. But I would go so far as to speculate that Ato was an even bigger part of Bri's success than just his coaching. His presence in her camp was like a father figure to those girls. He led them on a mission to take over the world - and, for a fleeting second - they did exactly that. Bri's debut album was a breakaway hit! Her second album is still in the studio...I feel confident that she will get back her mojo. But she is a cautionary tale of how difficult it is to transition from top youth elite to podium contender on the world's biggest stages.

Brianna is a great athlete, and one of my favorite. She will be fine. She caved under pressure to leave her Coach Ato. The time she spent training in Jamaica was a waste of time (in my opinion) and a huge setback. Brianna is 22 years old and if the the great Marie Josee Lou, can be rising to prominence in her 30's Brianna will get there. Just stability, focus and positive vibes from "John Public". Give her time. She is still in the adjustment period of her new coach and new environment.

This does not only happen to athletes. Life is not a science, even though we try to make it so. There are many things which cannot be explained in a logical manner. One such phenomenon is a human being. The cookie cutter/ box approach does not work. One cannot create a mold and expect both A and B to fit in it as desired. Over-analysis is the order of the day. There are too many experts sitting around keyboards pontificating and positing about all and sundry. What's happening to Briana is a common occurrence in all facets of life. She will be just fine. Everybody knows that we do not necessarily find the object of our search when totally focused on same. More often than not it appears when we least expect it. She will be good, and soon.

I want to posit that she could be lacking in her diet.
