As long as the homeowners give consent I would love to see price breakdowns of these projects. Knowing how much different aspects cost would probably help a lot of viewers gauge what they need to budget for a project like this.
@marks55934 жыл бұрын
@serendipidus1 Yeah, obviously it is going to vary wildly, but a ballpark breakdown would be useful for anyone trying to plan. Im not saying that people should use that pricing as a rule, but rather as a reference and even help them guide where they would rather splurge and where they should save.

I saw this below and started watching and, I've gotta tell you, I had already subscribed from the first video but, I had to log in to my phone to leave a comment (can't comment on Firestick) because I am SOOOO impressed with you and your Young Men!!!! This video made me a long-time subscriber!!!! The way you, patiently, work with your Sons, gently correct them, giggle at their hijinks, respect their opinions, challenge their knowledge and critical thinking on the project at hand, commend them and teach them with love, warms my heart to no end!!!! Your work is impeccable, your advice is top notch, your critique of others work and the explanations of the why and why nots is beyond helpful and your integrity as a reno guy in the way you try to save the customer money is honest, SOOOO rare these days and an AMAZING example to set for your Boys!!!! i LOVE Jeffs videos...i pick up a new idea in each one. this one showed me the woven demo bags...i'll report back on their ability to take a landing off a roof with that sort of debris. for the homeowners looking in, there are a few tools you MUST have for this sort of demo fun...a good shop vac, a WIDE sturdy dustpan and the 7 in 1 painters tool (the one he told you all you get in the video where he redid the kitchen for $4k). thanks Jeff for remarking on the incorrectness of the drywall screws as construction fasteners...drywall screws are for drywall.

Looks great but a couple of questions.... 1. It looks like you can't adjust the water temperature because that lever needs to move forward and back and it is right against the wall? 2. Why not remove the fluorescent light under the cabinet so you can: 1. Tile the back splash without it in the way and 2. Replace with a lower profile LED light that won't burn out and looks "cleaner"?

Nice looking job, just 3 minor quibbles... 1.) the hardwood in the hallway... should go lengthwise along the longest run, it looks goofy as short planks, 2.) I would swap out the old electrical switches vs. keep old nasty yellowed ones with a new plate cover, 3.) I like all my screws straight too... but horizontal, not vertical!

I really like the beadboard and the doors. I'm glad you are saving them. I would have saved the old plinth blocks for something else. Stuff is so expensive now. I hate plastic grilles. They can be dangerous. We lived in an apartment that had plastic grilles around a swimming pool. One of them broke when my brother stepped on it, he fell through and broke his toes and foot in 6 places. I helped my friend tear up old floor in his grandmother's house and we found printed wall panels with flowers on them underneath. LOL. Good thing that tile was done wrong and came up so easily. A toiletmaster lift jack would have come in handy when pulling that toilet out. I see someone caulked all the way around the toilet instead of leaving a gap to allow water out so you could tell if there were leaks. Man, that sink did NOT want to come out! I know it's already a long video but I had wanted to see the floor leveling and the installation of the herringbone tile. I still hate mdf/particle board cabinets. I found a place that sells unfinished cabinets made with plywood and solid oak trim/doors/drawer fronts. They were heavier but much more sturdy & they only took two coats of paint and some touch-ups before I did a coat of poly on top. Pausing at the indentations on the beadboard when caulking is a good idea. I'm glad you mentioned that. My house has no baseboards but I plan to install some.

Got a kick out of hearing you backing off the plate screw and setting it with the slot vertical. I worked with my Dad since 1982 in his electrical contracting business, and we always set the screw vertical. We could always tell when someone messed with the devices on call backs because they'd never put the slots vertical. All 30+ electricians we had were trained to do the same. Finishes things off nicely. I enjoy hearing your attention to details, and desire to do the job right! Pride in workmanship!!!! Great job!!

A lot of homes in Mainland Europe are built with bricks/rocks with full concrete foundations, floors, & ceilings. Look for videos on remodels done in Spain, Germany, & Italy. In Eastern Europe - Bosnia, Serbia, & Croatia. It's a very different style of construction & installation. There is definitely some HUGE differences on how things are done from the US to other places. Hanging pictures (or anything for that matter) on a concrete wall is a very interesting (& frustrating) experience when you grow up with a "stick built" (lumber & drywall) house.
