Dude you did too much wrong. Too bad your setting America progress behind. Some people might do it your way. aaauggghhhh Gosh. It is like a comedy show though. lol In the end, nothing really matters anyway. Being a perfectionist isn't fun either !!

Fifty fucking jacks in the basement keeping the dump from falling in on itself isn't what I would say is "fixed". If the west was actually rich they wouldn't be doing any of this. This is just part of the asset stripping that destroyed the west.

you sir.. are a gem.. seriously. I renovated my entire basement on my own.. also installed two decks on my backyard and I must say that I found myself watching your videos quite a lot. It was a lot of work especially finishing the drywall but you made it easier your tips and tricks just made it easy to work around things... I proved my in laws wrong thanks to you.

I have no upper cupboards just a few lower cupboards in my tiny apt. I do have a shallow pantry with 6 shelves about 5 feet across. I store all my food and a few dishes. Why would you have your shelves blocking your glass cupboard? Could you have not turned your shelving unit the other way against the right wall?

One big caveat: BUYER BEWARE! I don't know if this is the exact same door as I read about but it was a $200+ door (the only one I found online) that opened like this one, that I read reviews on. There were instances of the door simply shattering! Some while installing it and others within months of installation and apparently for no other reason than cheap glass. One boy had to go to the hospital to take out pieces of glass. You get what you pay for. Pay attention to thickness. This one looks pretty thick. But the price is low.

So, you just leave the treated lumber in contact with the ground without any sort of finish to prevent water penetrating the wood and freezing? What did you use to finish / waterproof the top of the deck?

holy shit, i am SO GLAD i found this video before building my deck! i took an entire page of notes on all the things i learned here and emailed it to myself. you answered a key concern that i had, which is, "how do i make sure my deck railing is going to be sturdy if it's just mounted on top of the deck boards?" i didn't realize that the posts are supposed to be tied into the structural pieces underneath, which makes a lot of sense now. i learned so many things here that i've never heard anywhere else. thank you so much.

Hello. Can I use an old timber bedframe to build an outside deck or should the woof be treated with a waterproof substance first?

I’m 38 and still live with my parents. At this point, I may just wait until the house is inherited to me (and likely my bro) and keep living here. It’s a small 1800s New England house. Wouldn’t have to worry about rent or mortgage at that point.

Hi Jeff, i'm in the Crysler area . I would compare your talent and personality to Mario Lemieux the Great and Gretsky .. I watch this over and over and gets better and better. I am so close to closing on an Old gas station property with contamination and or an 100 year old Home with the same basement as yours, on city water and city sewers.. Give me a sign of life , and a go or no go 😅🎉

Such a great and informative video. I do have a question. Is there a reason for the railing posts to not use the three points of contact? Initially, you suggested it was good for the posts to have more support by having three points of contact but when they were installed, I see you didn’t install them all the way down to the bottom board. Is it because of the extra support board you put in the joist?

just found you today... we are in the final stages of getting our new-to-us 1890 craftsman bungalow on a few acres of wooded property. So I'll be diving into your videos for tips. I'm a pretty handy, son of a plumber, grandson of farm-folk, I was taught to do what it takes to get it done. Jack-of-all, master of... a few! But I'm always interested in seeing how things "should" be done!
